Visiting Perú is a transformative experience. It's like visiting an entire universe of history, culture, ethnography, and culinary discovery all within one nation's borders. I liken it to visiting similarly chaotic ancient hubs, such as Cairo or Istanbul, which ultimately make travel so worthwhile and culturally enriching. The city is that incredibly multilayered in historical terms. Of course, Cusco is on another level, due to the breathtaking location and uniformly well-preserved concentration of ancient architecture from pre-Spanish conquest days right on through the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Cusco is a museum city, but Lima's old core is equally worthy as an open-air museum destination. The convents and monasteries alone are like historical time travel venues. These historic cities are among the best in Latin America to enjoy ancient sites without having to travel to Europe or the Near East.

Hi!!! We loved Lima. And we’re so glad you enjoyed our little video. Semana santa in Lima was a blast. Lots of energy. Lots of people. Can’t wait to come back 🥰🙏🇵🇪
As a Peruvian, I don't know why it is so entertaining watching gringos (in the endeares way possible) vlog Lima. It's so funny watching them be terrified of the high rates of crimes, informal services, and dangerous public transport but delighted by the infrastructure (of the tourist sites, at least), the people's kindness, and our country's gastronomy.
Haha glad we were entertaining for you!!! Loved your capital city, friend. And by noe means were we terrified of high crime rates. We were met only with love in Lima. Can't wait to come back.
I’m peruvian and I LOVE my city of Lima. Lima has so many things and yes touristic wise people mainly go to Miraflores. Not sure what district you guys stayed but it seemed some areas aren’t 100% safe, so I’m glad you guys didn’t have issues with anyone. In Downtown Lima in Plaza san Martin. There’s the beautiful The Hotel Bolivar was built in 1924. Very fancy hotel the first modern Hotel in Peru. The hotel, now is known for its haunted stories and guests seeing weird things happening. Also, where you walked through Jiron de la Union. For many decades it was the most important boulevards of the city, often described as the most aristocratic, where many of the most affluent citizens of the city and most powerful men around the world would meet. Subsequently, with the deterioration of the center of Lima, the Jirón de la Unión lost its aristocratic character and became completely commercialized. In the 1970s, the third through ninth blocks of the street were restricted solely for pedestrian use. In the 1980s, the Historic Centre of Limasuffered through a period of decadence in which the economic recession and the increase of crime drove away visitors. At this time, the Jirón was converted into a commercial emporium with a great quantity of abandoned store property and a large number of street sellers. It was not until the next decade until the reorganization of the historic center took place at the orders of the mayor Alberto Andrade Carmona which allowed the Jirón to reactivate its economy. Currently, the Jirón de la Unión has returned to being a commercial center; however, it has long lost its aristocratic character. The last change that has been made is the demolition of the concrete benches placed in the 1970s that were built with the intent to pedestrianize the road. These have been replaced with new benches inscribed with the coat of arms of each of the different departments of Peru.
We love Lima! An absolutely wonderful city that we can't wait to visit again in the future 🥰 And yes, we had absolutely zero problems in Lima safety wise. Everyone we met was super kind!
@@WyattandReyka yeees! Im surprised you guys didnt check out the Convent of Santo Domingo. Its one of the oldest buildings in Lima. Home of the oldest and still functioning university of all the americas and two peruvian saints are buried. The museum is a hidden gem and its $3 per person.
The reason you sometimes see the flag of Peru with the coat of arms and other times without it is because there are two official versions: National Flag (without coat of arms): Used by the general public in civil events, festivities, and as a national symbol in non-official contexts. State Flag (with coat of arms): Employed by the government, state institutions, embassies, and diplomatic missions. It is used on public buildings and during official state ceremonies. This distinction differentiates the civil use of the flag from its official or governmental use.
Thanks so much!! Yup, we explored a few other cities. Unfortunately at the end of our Peru trip we got VERY sick (either from altitude in Cuzco or some bad food we still don't know) and had to leave... Next time we hope to explore more and try more food. We are editing a Machu Picchu video next 🙏🇵🇪
The statue you saw near the Plaza de Armas is the statue of a "tapada" (covered), it was a custom among women in Lima at the beginning of the republican era, they used to only leave home with a shroud covering her whole head, leaving one eye out. Also, some flags have the coat of arms and some don't, using the flag with the coat of arms is mostly required for government buildings, regular buildings or houses can use the flag without the coat of arms, and in the month of July (the month when the peruvian Independence day is celebrated, which is the 28th) most houses in the whole country put a flag outside their building as a tradition. Glad you guys enjoyed the capital city and got to feel how vibrant its people make it feel. Come back soon!
Hope you enjoyed your time in Lima!! For what I see in the video, your visit was during Easter. Most of Peruvians are Catholic (aprox 75%), that's why you saw so many people on the streets and in the Main Square.

Thank you so much for this message!! 🥰 We loved Lima, and can't wait to come back again. Such an amazing place. We will definitely try to be careful with our belongings while exploring the city. There has always been American chains throughout my life lol It’s there so tourists can enjoy a taste of their home. Also, Peruvians like American everything 😊
Mucha gente amable. Hasta pronto, lima 🥰🙏🇵🇪
Just in case your question about the coat of arms hasn't been answered yet. By law, the coat of arms can only be present on flags located in state buildings or used for official purposes. Flags on regular houses, can't have the coat of arms, just the red and white part. We have 2 coat of arms. The one used by the goverment, wich is surrounded by palm and bay leaves, and the one used by the armed forces is surrounded by red and white kind of like drapes things.
The thing in the middle you are referring to is the flag shield, that type of flag is commonly on top of government buildings like the one you are pointing at called The Government Palace where the president resides and the seat of the executive branch of the Peruvian government rules. Something like your White House.

Welcome to Perú my friends it is a landscape country so mucho amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊. ❤ Perú top mundial
So beautiful!!!!
Only oficial buldings can use this flag , the others cant use it. the other only can use a flag with the colors of the oficial flag.
Thank you for answering that question I was so confused haha!! Cheers and take care! 🥰
Correct.
Only official government buildings.
The other building is a religious building.

8:50 The one without the National Coat of arms is our flag, the one with the national coat of arms is our Pabellon Nacional
Thank you 🥰
Such a cute couple! Hope you guys are enjoying your time in Lima.
We love it!! And thanks so much lol you are so sweet. Can't wait to come back to Lima! We are editing a Machu Picchu video next 🙏🇵🇪 🥰
Thanks so much for sharing!! We learn so much in these messages. We loved Lima and can’t wait to come back 🥰🙏🇵🇪
Gotta love Lima. I was born there and recently visited some of those areas. Enjoy guys.. 🎉🎉.
Ayo that’s awesome! Lima is an amazing city. Thank you so much for the nice message!! 🥰🙏🇵🇪
A good perspective of Lima.
Thank you so much! ❤️🙏🇵🇪
Downtown Lima has the same vibe as in Madrid in Spain
We agree! Very similar vibe
You would've liked El Olivar Park in the San Isidro neighborhood. Huge park that features hundreds of olive trees that are a few centuries old.
That sounds amazing!! Thank you for the recommendation ❤️🙏🇵🇪
I'm glad you're having such a great time.
It was so fun!!! Can't wait to come back.
Hope you enjoyed your time in Lima!! For what I see in the video, your visit was during Easter. Most of Peruvians are Catholic (aprox 75%), that's why you saw so many people on the streets and in the Main Square.
Yes this was recorded during Easter! And we love Peru! It's such an amazing place. Can't wait to share more of adventures in the wonderful country! ❤️🇵🇪
This is the first video I've seen of you and I find you are very cheerful people, I've already subscribed.
I am Peruvian, from Lima. ¡Bienvenidos! 😊🇵🇪
When you pointed out the stickers that said "Masajes", I burst out laughing. 😂😂😂
I hope you have a great time in our country, always be careful with your belongings.
I'm curious, what were your expectations about Lima?
I'm still learning English, sorry for any mistake.
Thanks for appreciating our architecture, I'm in love with those old buildings. Too many tourists get surprised by that European style.
Of course, I love our ancient constructions too (Inkas).
Thank you so much for this message!! 🥰 We loved Lima, and can't wait to come back again. Such an amazing place. We will definitely try to be careful with our belongings while exploring the city.
We honestly thought Lima would be smaller than it was! But it was huge! And it was so modern!
Also, your english is great by the way. Great work studying, it's super good! Gracias por el mensaje! Saludos! ❤️🇵🇪🙏
New subscriber here! You guys are so adorable! I really enjoyed this video. When I was in my twenties, I had the opportunity to work in Miraflores. This video just brought back so many memories. The Good Lord bless you both with good health and His favor.🤗🙏

Greetings!! We love Portugal!! 🥰
I'm a Peruvian working abroad, so I'm usually at home only around 3 months a year... And despite having already visited many wonderful cities around the world I always miss my Lima despite all the flaws and problems it may have as any other big city. As they say, no hay lugar como el hogar 🥰 your video made me smile, thank you for that guys, I'm so happy you had a good time in my city! Greetings from a new subscriber ;)
you are so sweet!!! And yeah we miss Lima a lot. No hay lugar como el hogar es la verdad. Y tu hogar puede cambiarse a la capital de Peru si no tienes cuiudado! 😂 Cheers friend. Thank you so much for subscribing! 🙏🇵🇪
There has always been American chains throughout my life lol
It’s there so tourists can enjoy a taste of their home. Also, Peruvians like American everything 😊
That Subway in Peru was great lol. Us tourists loved it 😂
And Peruvians eat that American fast food a lot?
great vibes guys, im from Lima and i love this video.
Thank you so much!! You are so kind! We loved Peru and are so glad we get to share our experience with the world! ❤️🇵🇪

@ 🙌🏼💛🪐
Mucha gente amable. Hasta pronto, lima 🥰🙏🇵🇪
This is the best video I have seen about Peru. All natural. I subscribed and gave it the thumbs up 👍.
You are so sweet!! Thank you so much!!! We love Peru! 🙏🇵🇪🥰

I tried some flavored churros at the stand you past around 16:03 and they were just soooo good
That's epic!!! Wish we could go back in time and try some of those hahaha
Super helpful! Thank you
Plaza de armas isn't always that crowded, maybe it was sunday or a holiday, also depends on the weather
It was semana santa! this was recorded a long time ago haha. We are quite procrastinators when it comes to editing lol
Congratulations ... WELCOME PERÚ gold country and left people
Thank you! 🙏❤️ we love Peru!
Hermosa pareja, cuidense y pasenla de maravillas en Perú
Muchas gracias! 🙏🇵🇪🥰
The thing in the middle you are referring to is the flag shield, that type of flag is commonly on top of government buildings like the one you are pointing at called The Government Palace where the president resides and the seat of the executive branch of the Peruvian government rules. Something like your White House.
Thank you so much for helping us out with that question! We were so curious about that! Take care and we can’t wait to come back to Peru again! 🥰🙏🇵🇪
Bienvenidos a Perú 🇵🇪👏🏻

Love the video guys ... but the subway ?? ... c'mon 🤣 🤣 🤣... liked the huancaina sauce detail tough 😊
Perfect sunset lighting 🌅 for the last take !!
Take care guys and thank you for sharing !!
Thanks so much Ernesto!! ❤️🙏🇵🇪 And yeah, we just looooove Subway haha. At least we tried it with some huancaina sauce like you noticed 😂
Take care as well and thanks for being here. Really glad you enjoyed!! 🤗
Hope you had an amazing stay in my homecountry!
