Very nice. I have a big GS and was quoted about 400 to buy and have a new rear tire installed by the dealer. I know their time is worth the money. But at that rate it looks like I can get teh tire I wanted and all the equipment to install it myself and then have it be cheaper in the future since I have the equipment. Doesn't look too hard! Thanks for making this video, very informative!
@@supercharged3975 Very topical reply to this. Had not too much trouble mounting Anakee3's with Tusk Beadpro levers. But it was a bit of a pain. It's time for another set of tires and this time I splurged on the Rabaconda Street.... Going to make it super easy to change tires I'm hoping.
Well done video. Not my bike but cool learning how a Big GS rear wheel works. I was watching how to lace the spokes on the rear wheel of a GS 😮 Glad mine are cast 21 F 750 GS.
Well done video... I would also suggest tire shop lube. No worries about it getting on the tread, it will rinse off with water. Soapy water works, but not nearly as well. It would halve your already impressive install time.

I wonder if the tires on my 97 BMW 1100RT can be manually changed. I run Metzler Z8 tires. I had a guy mount a new set. It was a struggle even though he had a machine to help him. 50 years ago I always changed my own tires. I guess my main question is; are modern tires stiffer and harder to manually mount?? Cheers!!
It is correct that different tires have different side wall flex resulting in different difficulties with manual installation. My Continental TKC70 Rocks and the Scorpion Trail 2 tires were easy. The recent Dunlop Missions I just installed were much tougher.
Thanks for putting this video together. Very detailed and to the point.
Excellent clear video, thank you for this
Glad you found it helpful. Thank you for watching.

You can likely also replace it yourself in the same amount of time you would waste driving to the dealer. Thank you for watching!
Always a good idea to have the tyres warm . They go on easier. I've been changing my own tyres for about 20 years now

One word............ LUBE

Well, if I am having to lace the spokes on my front or rear wheel, I obviously had bigger problems. 😀 thanks for watching!
Very nicely done!

You are correct that the tire lube works much better. Thank you for watching.
Great Video! Looking to do this for my GS, can I ask what wheel balancer you have along with the adaptor?

@@Fentventures Thanks!
In your spare time do you run around in a suit fighting crime? In your next video can you just say "I'm batman"
What tires were these?
The old tires were Karoo 3 by Metzler and the new ones were continental TKC 70 Rocks. Thank you for watching.
