    Great build. I think LDO has changed the Voron market. 3 Years ago I wanted to build a Voron, but at that time no one had really good kits, so most self sourced. I chose a Rat Rig kit, since they had 95%+ of the parts needed. I experienced the same excitement when it first came alive. It is like being in the delivery room for a birth of a child. My two Rat Rigs are a great compliment to my Bambu printers. The Bambu are fast the Rat Rigs are BIG.

    • @sagichnicht6748
      @sagichnicht6748 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I built my V0.1 pre-LDO :) Paid more and had the "joy" of doing all the crimping and cutting and cable management myself. Ok, actually I am a little bit proud of that but if I every by another Voron, it will be an LDO kit.

    • @REDxFROG
      @REDxFROG ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sagichnicht6748 I choose not to get a kit because many parts wont be my choice.
      Ive wanted a 8mm bed with included neodym magnets, Phaetus Rapido and a VezHextrudort, frame in the color of choice, idlers from powge, higher quality rails. Self sourcing is part from the experience. Printing all those parts takes so much time anyway.

    • @sagichnicht6748
      @sagichnicht6748 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@REDxFROG Yeah, I tasted blood again and started digging regarding a V2.4. I am on the fance if and what way I should go. Sourcing everything has gotten a lot harder and more expensive from Austria as due to national legislation almost all if not all shops at Aliexpress stopped shipping to Austria, so a lot of direct sources have dried up.
      Absurdly enough the easiest and most cost effective solution to that is getting a Formbot kit and then buy all those things I want to have something better or different on top of it. I somehow hate the idea of throwing away half the kit though, feels like such a waste. Sourcing eveything myself will cost a lot more than that but maybe is not that much more expensive than an LDO kit.

    Bruh... That was one of those moments I just had to type that. Seeing the gantry correct itself after measuring was so frickin cool! I dont have a quad axis printer(I guess this works for two axis as well) but man, every step in the automation process is a big thumbs up for me. I like tinkering with my Ender, but my Elegoo does so much more for me to keep the downtime, well down. I'm not growing a print farm or anything but if I decide to get a third and possibly a larger print bed at that, this system looks really cool and helpful.

    As was said in Robots, "Making the baby is the fun part". All the fiddly work that goes into fine tuning after that first trial is the semi-maddening part, especially when you're treading fresh snow in some cases; when you're the first one to do something and you're constantly going back and forth from tweaking hardware to testing code 50 or 60 times a day. A month or so down the line, you've got everything absolutely perfect and dialed in so it can do its thing relatively unmonitored, you get some trust between you and the hardware, and let baby out into the world for its first overnight print.
    Next morning, a pile of spaghetti is on the floor, 85% of a model is on the build platform, and there's a geyser of molten plastic coming out of the hot end that took its sweet time cooling, and reality sets in that it's all got to come apart again. Ugh, I don't miss those days...

    Hi very cool build-video. Are you able to print large CF-PA parts without having them warp. I'm sure if you fill up the entire bet it probably will, but how large can you go without warping being an issue. On my BBL X1C I have a part that streches from corner to corner, but if I print it in CF-PA the build plate lifts off the magnets in the corner. I'd be curious to know if you could make it work with the larger plate. If you have some CF-PA, I'd be happy to sent you the stl to try.

    My LDO Voron 2.4 has been on hold for a while now... I got pretty far, but started wondering about little things and then life got in the way...
    But your video has renewed my confidence. Seeing your gantry sit cock-eyed like that while it's off has made me less nervous about mine doing the same. (Mine doesn't even tilt as much as yours.) I don't have the klicky probe (I guess they added that recently to the LDO kits?), but I may end up upgrading to that in the future... Though the probe that actually uses the nozzle as the probe (with a little rail behind the print head) is pretty tempting, too.

    @12:40 you can see something is loose on the front right hand Z linear rail. The connection between the rail and the gantry probably didn't get tightened back up.

    I always wanted to try a direct drive printer.. Is it possible to adapt the whole hot end/extruder setup to work on an Ender3 type frame? Or is there a better option? I saw some direct drive extruders with super small motors and orbital/planetary gears, maybe those would be better considering the weight saving.
    Also that Klicky sensor looks awesome, I'm definitely looking into that too

    I got the plans for building a Voron i just haven't taken the plunge yet.
    recently fixed some issues with my 6 year old printer. i just need to take the time to print the parts out and order stuff.
    i had $1,200 a month ago i could have used on it but i paid my moms power bill off before she passed away from cancer. Didn't want debt collectors trying to take the house.

    the PIF system has great quality parts, And is especially useful if you cant print ABS or ASA which tends to require an enclosure and depending on ventilation a means to keep the fumes down.
    Maybe the biggest Co.. Road Block to building a Voron atm is the lack of Pi availability. And for a first timer I would suggest an actual Pi just because most directions operate on using one. Though if someone already knows Linux they can just use anything running Linux and this neat script that will put Klipper on anything running Linux.

    Teamwork makes the dream work! Loved this collaboration, and I had just discovered @MandicReally yesterday. (Mandic might have finally sold me on an E3D Revo CR with his awesome review, by the way.)
    The shout-outs to everyone who helped you was awesome, and I wish it was spelled out in videos more often.

    Super cool! I have honestly never seen a core XY printer where the z-axis is not just the bed moving up and down.
    Kind of want to build one of these but the build process itself seems really daunting. I need a buddy who knows what they're doing to help me through it like you!

      It felt daunting at first, but having Alan there to help was FANTASTIC. It really helped with my confidence and I know I can do the next one on my own. Hopefully :)

      Agree. Discord is the way to go. Especially the regional rooms where you will get most of the first aid during the build. And I know a lot of people in a similar situation as you that are making great builds.

    I've been wanting one of these for a while, but I'm broke lol. A 3d printer has been on my list for quite a while now, I might have to build one of these this year. I can get all the hardware for cheap at work, but the brackets/extrusion/motors/boards I'll need to get online.

    I used a Voron printer for a couple of months and have to say: not a fan
    I feels much more like a project and less like a tool.
    I remember after a firmware update the head ran into the bed because of lost calibration. Also the head overheated and destroyed itself.
    Never had such problems with an Ultimaker. Also, why are no prebuilts available O_o

    what would you suggest now you have built a voron. voron vs X1 Carbon. maybe you could do some comparisons on speed/features. I currently have an i3 style clone.
