    Hi Jun for your survey, I use a fish finder rig when the current is significant and I walk to follow the sinker. I use hi-low or Carolina otherwise because the leader(15 lb mono) can spin up in flight and tangle around the weight with the waves going in and out.

  • @nomadhomad3685
    @nomadhomad3685 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    High low is great for verticealand short distance fishing while fish finder is perfect for the wave (less snags when configured with the right main and leader line size)
    Nice to see you back

      @@MoreThanFishing when it comes to the choice between the high-low or fish finder, I think it is using the one you have the most faith in..... there is no right way. Remember it is not just fishing, it is more than fishing 😉

    I use the Hi-lo rig in the rivers and ocean, with bait. I use the fish finder in lakes with striper fishing, with cut baits, like San Luis reservoir. I have good luck with both. I have used the hi-lo off charter boats for bottom fish with natural and artificial baits with good outcomes. I really don't think it matters that much. I loose fewer rigs in rocky locations with the hi-lo rig. I fished for sanddabs on sandy bottoms with the hi-lo but left the line loose to allow the other hook(s) to reach the sands for more hookups for multiple fish. Just go fishing, that's the key, get a line in the water.

    My problem with the Fish Finder is that crab 🦀 snagging all my bait. This happened on piers and surf for me. I switched to hi-low to try and keep the bait off the floor. Thanks for the great video.

  • @anastasi2012

    It's simple for me. For surf I use Carolina and off of Piers, boats, bridges, and other structures I use Hi/Lo or single dropper if it's shallow.
    In creeks I sometimes use a jig with a red wiggler on it but about 6-8 inches above I loop a small hook onto the line with another red wiggler. It's great for panfish especially crappy and yellow perch.

  • @Nik-gh6gz

    I wonder if you could do a combo 🤔 a dropper then weight then Carolina rig

    A fun video but I have never surf fished yet, always from a boat. I use the high low rig.
    Question: I thought we were only allowed two hooks?

  • @nicoibzschalin-hr4bj

    I use both and i notice a difference in the spieces that bite each rig.

  • @chrischambless
    @chrischambless ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve been thinking of putting a little “rig float” on the hook ends of both these rigs, just to keep it off the bottom.

  • @walden6272
    @walden6272 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The high low beats every rig except one. The only rig that can beat the high low is a self-made full size sabiki rig with 6 or more hooks. 1 hook rig will lose to 2 hooks rig but 2 hooks will always lose to 6 or more hooks rig. ;)

    There’s a very distinctive print on the sand that the sand worm makes on the surface that gives them away so you don’t go digging blind, it helps on your back and being efficient 👍🏽

    Ive had this debate with my cousin many times while we fish for perch, i think hi-low is better, its all about reading the beach and placing your bait in the right spot. Either one is fine but nothing beats getting a double hook up

    That is what I am gonna say before the video was done... It's hi lo if ya gonna target smaller species, while fish finder is for bigger on the other hand...
    One thing I noted about the hi lo that it has a very low ratio of missing and is successful most of the times....

  • @racerex340
    @racerex340 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Fish Finder is always going to lose against hi-lo, the weight being ahead of the hook on the fish finder means that the fish can strip your bait without you feeling the bite as they have to overcome the weight of the sinker in order for it to register on the rod tip, not the case for hi-lo as the hooks are after the weight.

    • @jinsuozhang9432
      @jinsuozhang9432 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, fishing finder rig doesn't need fish overcome the weight because the line can move freely

    • @mamnhi7501
      @mamnhi7501 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      a sliding egg weight allows for the line to pass and for one to feel the fish bite

    • @not_hacking1252
      @not_hacking1252 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s the point of it being on a slider

    • @racerex340
      @racerex340 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@not_hacking1252 you'll feel a strike and run with a large sliding egg, but you won't always feel a bite, or like a fish that gulps the bait and stays put.

    • @kennethvaughn5967
      @kennethvaughn5967 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have it backwards. In a high low rig, the weight comes after the hooks at the bottom of the rig. In a fish finder rig, the weight is above the hooks.
