I've gotten more time of late to start fishing again and your video series has just boosted my enthusiasm for learning how to become better at beach fishing from bait to reading the layout and rigs. Thanks for your very informative videos and I can't wait to wet a line out there, keep them coming. :)
I Roger, I am new to fishing and your videos are absolutely top notch. Sat down today with the wife and son and viewed all of them. Great job, keep it up.
Another great video. Well presented, excellent content and good clear instruction. I have enjoyed all your videos and I am looking forward to your knot video. Keep up the good work. Cheers Andrew
Roger you're a very good teacher, I have learnt a hell of a lot from your vids, and I often come back to your vids for reference, many thanks for your great info, cheers
Central Oz viewer here. Every summer or two I need a refresher on rigs and other bits and pieces. This summer I'm going to the west coast and a couple of weeks later off to Adelaide. Hopefully, I can bring in something for dinner but it will be nice to catch the sea air.
Caught my first salmon just a few hours ago using your bream/flathead rig, these rigs along with your hook/bait guides are absolutely phenomenal. First youtube channel I've come across to provide solid information with results to match. top work mate.
@@RogerOsborneFishing I'm local to the area not too far off Fisherman Bay SA, Usually i kayak the sand banks for flathead/whiting or head just off Shag Island for bigger drop offs.
@@RogerOsborneFishing also a fun little fact, the "stinger" or keeper hook is what actually hooked most of my bigger fish, exactly like you had mentioned in the video. Once again I can't thank you enough for producing quality easy to digest information!
Thanks for the great content Roger, I've not done any beach fishing, nor caught beach worms, but after watching a few of your videos I'm chomping at the bit to get down to the beach. Thanks again Roger Cheers Shane
Great guide mate, I tried the double paternoster you suggested but used #2 gamakatsu circle hooks instead (love my circles!). Smashed the bream and whiting this morning and got 2 double hookups as well! Biggest bream 43cm
@@RogerOsborneFishing I caught some bream and Aussie salmon That stinger hook was deadly like you said. My 8 year old son actually caught his first few fish of the beach too using it and was so happy.
I've tried many nots for that last whiting rig for no tangles but nothing really worked. Those 3 way swivels are so much better because of that 360 rotation and helped me land some of my biggest fish. I've had huge success with many species, not just whiting. Anything in the water will bite it with the right bait. Thanks!
awesome video. my personal favourite to use off the beach is the good old ledger rig although i do use the running rig if the conditons are calm and quiet
Thank you Sir, for your Mastery of these skills and passing it onto all those willing to learn. You present youself as a good bloke too! Thanks mate, you're a legend!! 🙏
Hi Roger. Just letting you know that my boys and I went hunting for beach worms for the first time last weekend. Followed your instructions, just a little trial and error, and then whallah... I remember watching a snapper fishing video from New Zealand and the host showed how to use a stinger or keeper hook and he also said 95% of the fish he catches are on the little hook - I tried it and sure enough he was right ! I run a similar rig with the ganged hooks but i fit a swivel to the top of the gangs and have the sinker running between the hooks and another swivel about 1-1/2 m up the line , i think i got it out of the old Alvey handbook many years ago and the extra swivel seems to help with line twist . Thanks for another excellent video Roger !
Hi Ian, thanks for saying G'day. I think I may have watched that Snapper video years ago as well. Thanks for your info regarding your rig set up. Regards Roger
@@RogerOsborneFishing Yes those videos to me were an eye opener and i used those techniques on bream in the estuary for many years . I noticed you were using Schneider line and i would like to hear or see in a video your thoughts on line choice for surf fishing especially for Alvey reels , i personally like a line that is a little stiffer or less supple as i feel it doesn't get affected by line twist as much but does hurt casting distance a little and what are your thoughts on fluorocarbon lines(for traces ) in the surf - worth the trouble - pros and cons etc . How is the south coast going after the fires ?
wolfie498 Yes the keeper hook is pinned ( only lightly ) to the bait to keep it at the business end of the rig and it also helps with bait presentation .
@@ianbertenshaw4350 Yeah, same thing different name lol. Interesting stuff. I find it great for worm baits. Stops it all bunching up at the bottom of the hook. Also had double hook ups like that 😀🎣😀

We call the whitting rig a fish finder rig in the states and we usually use beads in each end of the knots to prevent wear and tear on the knot
