I'm 67 years old and have been surf fishing for 50 plus years in NC.. you my friend have taught this old guy quite a few more things about surf fishing. You have a lot of knowledge and a very humble way that you deliver that knowledge Thank for sharing what you have learned. Keep up the good work!
I was using braid and a 3 oz sinker this past weekend at cape lookout and caught slot drum on a much simpler rig using live mullet from the surf! 30lb braid to a swivel with a clinch knot and the premade bottom rigs with circle hooks. It was my first time ever surf fishing and we got 5 drum and 2 blues ☺ the 3 oz weight seemed to work well in the mild surf, but a 6-8oz would definitely be better in heavier surf. I watched a lot of your videos in preparation for my trip and they seriously helped! I love your enthusiasm!
I'm out at ocracoke literally right now surf fishing for the first time and failing miserably but learning why with the help of videos like yours. Thank you for the content
Ahhh yes, the Oregon Inlet... this spot is 10000% 🔥. Speaking from experience, DO NOT WAIT TILL HIGH TIDE AT NIGHT TO LEAVE.... almost had to wait a tide change out one night there. Keep up the amazing vids!
Dude you have no idea how lucky you're to have such a cool partner in crime "fishing buddy". You're a lucky dude- Love the content, y'all stay safe out there and tight lines :)
When we went to Tampa , near the shoreline in the surf, using tiny hooks I was able to catch lots of bait size fish , maybe next time just have Erin do that while you keep an eye on the big rods . (She get some easy fishing time ) Light or ultra light gears and small hooks size 10 or 12 , line 4-6 pound , reel size 500-1000, rod 5’-5’6”
@@HeySkipper hey just wanted to say I love your videos really inspire me have a great time watching them and really just takes you along for the adventure and being a fishermen and you giving advice on how to tie rigs and just every thing really makes you a good youtuber if you could get back to me by replying that would be fantastic what's some advice you would give me on on catching sea trout or maybe some salt cats?
You can't always power in a fish straight toward you and it could tangle into your neighbors. I don't worry about playing the game because I don't fish elbow to elbow with other people. It looks like you have 1500 feet or more to yourself. It looks really nice there.
have you ever heard about surfcasting, very regular fishing kind in europe, stiff rods that can trow easy 150g lead for 140m long, with thin lines and a shockleader!
I love watching my British beach fishing videos where its all sit back for 2 hours and hope for a bite, then watching you lucky guys in america with non stop action haha
Wow, thanks for the fishing tips, glad to see you back out on the surf, we still on lockdown in Trinidad can't wait for my time back out.I love watching your video.
Hey Brandon, there’s some big reds and snook in sebastian area right now. there is also a good spot for surf fishing there that is not crowded with people. that T knot dropper will be a perfect rig ther!!
Just a suggestion on your casting method. Plant your left foot. Point it in the direction you want to cast and aim a bit higher. Let me know if you get more distance.
Hey Brandon, I know you like to surf fish because you like to cast into the unknown, and get a mystery fish. I do too, that's why I love surf fishing and pier fishing. However, what really holds my heart is fishing topwater for striped bass. There's something about watching the sunrise and luring when a bass just smack a whopper plopper or a striped bass hitting that swimbait with ultra light rod and reels. Have you ever topwater lure a whopper plopper before? Maybe you can do a video on it. Thanks Matt from California Tight lines!
Wow real nice I’m learning again to fish just starting trying again after over 20 years before my father pass on now I’m feeling it again purchased a new rig but watching I just got try your way thanks for the tips really enjoy you
Thanks for your knowledge about fishing. I live on Long Island and am gearing up this winter for some spring and summer surf casting. I have never done it before. I look forward to your videos to edify me. Thanks. Andy

That was awesome! Enjoyed watching you guys fish my spot. Live two miles from there. Cant wait to try those clams. Purchased a rig package from you guys couple years ago!.
I’ll send you the pics of the bluefish unfortunately I was so happy I caught the striper and so much was going on inside my head I totally forgot to take the picture.
Hey guys! DON’T SKIP PAST VIRGINIA!!! Big redfish and Speckled trout. I love fishing in the Lynnhaven river for big redfish! Love the videos guys ❤️ keep up the amazing work! 🔥💪
Your fishfinder rig is backwards the hook supposed to go on your swivel and your weight supposed to be on the fishfinder you got it backwards because if the fish feels any kind of weight they will not bite it that’s from my experience you so you have it backwards reverse the positions of the hook and wait then that’s how the fishfinder rig works
@12:15 Yes mate - it's undersized tailor. In Russia it's called "Луфарь". In Australia we catch it on pilchard on 3/0 or 4/0 ganged hooks. Best time for fishing tailor is sunset.
I wish i had a Fishing Materials like yours Idol.. thanks for all the video.. i learned more techniques . Fishing is also my hobby here in the Philippines.. God bless and Best regards
awesome video. this is exactly what i do wen i am surfcasting(beach fishing): use different rigs for different rods whether it is table fish or big fish like sharks depending on the water conditions. you guys should try and testing out those s.african low mount surfcasting rods haha that would b a great challenge for you guys to try. i'm actually getting myself one so should b really fun haha
Don't forget to take the scale off from the end of your hook point, when you use a fish cut bait! They can be stuck on it good and can ruin your hookup.
I caught a mistake you did while baiting the mullet. all ways check the tip of your hook for scales after hooking the bait. You would be suprised how often this go's unchecked could keep you from setting the hook properly in the fish.
Nice day and nice specs. You are right about fouling other surf fishers down there on the point, it gets tight!! I got shamed out of my spot before. LOL
not sure humble is the correct word...she is a doll to balance his gotta boss everyone around... and I don't mean that in a bad way. He is just such the fishing nerd and so high energy that he plans everything out in his head and just tells everyone, even his dad & mom what their 'job' is...however he doesn't seem controlling just born with permanent 'puppy uppers' implanted! It's that enthusiasm which makes it fun and know just how to mange it and I sense has him wrapped around her little finger just like she is supposed but never letting him know... winkwink... I have so enjoyed watching the infomercial about salted baits with some fishing breaks in between. It's fun watching...
Thick rock salt is even better! Another good hint to avoid bait getting rotten in the bait box from the extracted meat juices, is to put a layer or 2 of newspaper or kitchen roll at the bottom of the box to absorb them. This juice extraction is caused by the salt and it is what makes the flesh harder.
Dude! C'mon down to Surf City Ocean Pier, in Surf City, Topsail Island, NC. Let me show you the proper way to rig the 8-n-bait fish finder rig! I could give you some pointers on heaving it, too!
New subscriber and am Glad I found you. Gonna watch and use your advice when I go traveling this summer. Also am glad to know what equipment to really buy and not something A salesman wants me to buy for A bigger commission!! Keep up the good work. D......
U ought to try a blade bait like a cicada in the surf. I catch a lot of fish freshwater with it. It's a simple fish shape cut out of a piece of flat steel. Lead weight on the under side of the nose. 2 trebles. Massive vibration silver silhouette.
Legit question: isnt that fish finder at around 5:00 backwards? The weight should be on the slider right? Not saying its WRONG if youre pulling in fish, but isnt the weight supposed to carry the bait to the very end of your cast? Another problem with bait on the slider is that if the surf pulls your bait up the line and you get a bite, you have to reel the weight all the way up to the bait before you can actually get tension on the hook, allowing the fish more time to get free.
new subscriber here.....good call out on the Taylor which is what we call Bluefish in Australia. Wish you coudl have got yourself a big one. We call them Chopper Taylor easily 20+ inches....fantastic on light gear !!
The combo baseball pitch with casting the line is particularly funny. The important thing to note is that your line strength matches or can handle the weight you're throwing or it will just snap off. Also, dude, you're at the beach, wear beach attire and get wet, get in the water and get a further cast, you look like you want to be at the mall and fishing at the same time. Another thing, if you use anchors on your sinkers, you don't need to use such heavy weights and you can get much further and controlled casts. If you keep doing that casting technique, you'll eventually snap your line. It's still funny tho.
I'm 67 years old and have been surf fishing for 50 plus years in NC.. you my friend have taught this old guy quite a few more things about surf fishing. You have a lot of knowledge and a very humble way that you deliver that knowledge Thank for sharing what you have learned. Keep up the good work!

Had my daughter yesterday and you uploaded yesterday couldn’t get any better than that and I’m going fishing tomorrow 🐟♥️
Tip: Clear your hook of any scales that get on the hook tip, when your placing the hook through cut bait. 👍
The scales can prevent a hook set.
