- DiY Carbon fiber trim set for BMW e90 328i Lci
I wanted carbon fiber trim for my bmw e90 for a long time... I've got in touch with a few shops to have this done but getting a price lower then 1000$ is difficult so i decided to have a go at it my self .

Ya you are right because no guy would ever not be afraid of his wife or girlfriend and will always need her advice to do what he wants to do. No guy runs his house and tells the woman how shit is going down.
After second thought you are probably a millennial and you boys aren't men so I understand you are beta and afraid of their girls.
This is where you reply back that you respect them so you ask permission to do anything out of respect and not fear. Why those millennial girls never ask you beta boys for permission on anything. Because they have you snowballed into thinking that you if demand they do ask you in return you are wanting a female to be subservient to you.
I will sand a damn day in my house and my wife won't say shit and she can sand all day too . Because we clean our own messes.

I assume after that smooth grit sanding you polished them for the glossy finish?
you can polish it or you can also spray a clear coat as a last step
hello how can i find that driver side dash trim lcd panel ? my e90 has a big turbo and i have turbo pressure gauge but not like this i want like this how can i find can you help me please ?

After the sanding I just go with urethane avoid sanding with heavy sandpaper I just sand with 2,000 and 3,000 looks like a mirror

That’s called fiber carbon skinning and is completely different from making parts.
It is. But skinning is also so much cheaper than buying real carbon molds and is a hell of a lot easier than making your own mold. Also is real carbon not the shitty wrap you see everywhere. Tell me, is it really worth it? How much weight could you possibly save on trim peices?
@@DeanieBN54 if I recall I didn’t state that either was cheaper, easier, better or worth it more than the other. I was simply stating that the title of this video is “how to make real carbon fiber trim” which he does not do.

Why people get hung up on the wording. It’s not misinformation is YOUR misinterpretation. This is 100% carbon fiber, that’s an indisputable fact. Is it a full cf piece? No. Did he say it was, no. He made his trim real cf, that’s exactly what he did. He could’ve worded it CF skinning which is also a legit technique. No posing or fake, unlike vinyl which is 100% fake no cf whatsoever. He didn’t. So what. Making all the trim for an e90 from full CF is fine if you want to spend $500-$1000 pre made, or don’t want to mess with cf. or even if you plan to sell sets, that’s great too. The amount of work to make the molds for all the trim, a purely cosmetic piece, it’s absolutely pointless.
Did you mix 1 part hardener to 1 part epoxy ?
it is not always the same ratio. You have to follow instructions from the can of epoxy. The time for hardening is different as well
You make few mistakes.
Applying epoxy straight to plastic isn't the best idea.After some times and heat and cooling interior for example during winter it can fall down.
You should also put clear coat which will protect parts from UV.
Would you suggest adding some kind of adhesive to the sides of the carbon and the plastic to stick the carbon on the plastic

@jasonhenry2212 Get off your wannabe elitist high horse. It may not be the highest quality CF he used but it’s definitely 100% real. Skinning is just another technique, not for you to decide if it’s fake or not. Unless you don’t understand the definition of fake. You don’t have to like it. Obviously it’s for cosmetic only. Full carbon fiber is for weight savings on race cars but a lot of the racer bois have a single side hood or trunk and don’t even know the difference anyway. By your logic those are fake too bcuz they’re not 100% CF. Ya it’s more work than vinyl wrap but so what, it’s what he wanted to do. Making molds of all the trim would’ve been a massive amount of work, time, and significantly more $. You’d know that if you knew anything about cf production. Some people opinion is wrap cf is a poser wannabe move. VINYL WRAP, skinning, even full cf are ALL cosmetic unless it’s specifically for racing and weight savings.

It’s real carbon fiber. But not real parts. He just essentially glued on a carbon fiber cover for the interior pieces.

That isn't real carbon fiber. That's skinning things in carbon. Why not just take a small amount of extra time and do it right. This was a waste of time. If you going to do fake trim. Just get a vinyl wrap. It's easier and cheaper. By the way if your going to do this. You need to ad a clear coat at the end or your parts will turn yellow over time.

This is exactly the process used to make all car interiors. Going full is much harder depending on the elements and the attachments! It's a lot prettier than vinyl, no kidding.
