- This is a review of the Bestek 500w pure sine wave inverter and I open it up to peek inside. There's a tip on how to avoid sparks when connecting any inverter to a battery that uses a simple pencil.

Thanks for unboxing this Bestek inverter.... I think Bestek inverters are far better than other inverters (Chinese inverters) available on the market...
Nice little inverter that but i do wish they wouldn't bother with the cig adapter, they are only rated to 10A 🤔

Can it start a small fridge? If it does it’s impressive.
I believe it can only handle a surge of about 580w as it primary design had smaller portable digital devices eg laptops, phones in mind for everyday usage and fridge compressors pull a lot of wattage to start so no I can't envisage the 500w for a fridge unless it's in a doll house 😀
You need 1200-2000 watts to start up a compressor
Nice one DC I've just bought a 300w version of the bestek, I already have a 150w but it's not pure sine wave and they are definitely well built. I ordered my eb3A power station today and it will go alongside a 200w solar panel or I can swap it out and charge it from my many batteries. Including dewalt battery's I charge at work 😁

Would be interesting to see an output waveform. I recently bought an 800W lvyuan "pure sine wave" inverter, the waveform was a joke, even with no load it no way resembled a sine wave , works ok, but I don't trust it on delicate items. The internals look really good on that one of yours
I've had no issues whatsoever with the inverter, runs fridge freezer, TV etc and have to assume it is truly psw. I've had modified sine wave and you really see the difference when running things.
Great video it would be interesting to see how much RF this spews out on medium wave and the HF/shortwave bands. Only my Victron Phoenix 12 250 hardly puts out any EMI 1M from the casing . For lightweight HF inverters the Mastervolt AC 12/500 is fairly RF quiet but a lot of the Chinese junk out there spews out insane amounts of 50Hz EMI. I'm looking into a compact Green Cell 150W PSW inverter for ultra portable usage with my 16Ah LFP battery. Thanks for the excellent content.

I want to buy an inverter, and Bestek are extremely tempting for the money, and better than most other Chinese-y brands, but still their quality control seems shaky. Reviews from a lot of happy customers, but also complaints of smoke and damaged equipment. I bought a Bestek inverter a few months ago and the output was (no joke) 450 volts AC and the fan had something grinding around in it. So that rather scared me away. You might get a good inverter like you did, or you might get a complete lemon. Fortunately Amazon refunded. I'm currently very interested in the Renogy 1000W pure sine, because the quality control seems better, I'm just waiting for a discount opportunity because its price has gone up more than I can justify right now.

Best have dismal warranty support. The warranty claim page has the form with the Submit button that does nothing. I was lucky that amazon honoured their warranty.

I went with Giwndel PSW 1kW instead and like it more. It does not turn on the fan if power is below 250-300 W.

It would get annoying under load for some, especially if powering an Apnea machine 😒

Yikes, no fuses blown? Mosfets are found easy on Ebay or alien
Dial shows standby of 0.7 amps which is what you say. Your text says 0.07 from which you calculate as hardly any watts at all!
For a 500w HF 12v inverter that's not a lot 0.07 amps for half speed of fan. The fan stops after self checking and when no load is detected. It will then restart when load of 140w+ is detected. Speed of fan increases as load does. At an efficiency rating of >83% its on par within its range, a Victron 500w offers a 7% improvement but at almost 3 times the cost. I could have and should have mentioned this, I live and learn.
