Love that song. My son immediately grabbed his guitar to try and practice. Gotta love 5yr olds. His guitar needs practice, but he can play piano. He taught himself several classical songs. Mozart and Bach, I believe. He is a dang prodigy! No lie. He blows my mind.

Justabout every Paul Simon song I've attempted to learn has been such that after a few hours bashing the frets and getting totally bemused by the sheer talent of the fella, Ive given up. Battered, downbeat and totally ashamed, I've hi-tailed it for some three-chord wonder to ease my shame.

thank you marty for this wonderful lesson! It is still the one i like the most. I had one question. There seems to be hammeron/pulloff in the intro section after the first F chord (during the 3 C chords) and then repeated again after the next F. Is it possible to shed some light on that? I am referring to the electric guitar version of this song.

Would you recommend this as a beginner player ?
This would likely be considered intermediate level, due to the finger-picking involved, and chord changes at irregular time intervals (not one chord per measure/phrase). You could make it easier on yourself by substituting strumming for the finger-picking, which would remove a good amount of the difficulty. Good luck!
