    20 years ago, I worked with a guy that once drove gasoline tankers. He said that he'd get in line at the refinery, add his "brand's" additive package to the tanks, then fill up with the same gasoline that every other tanker was getting, name brand or not.

    I find it very hard to believe that a great run state like Illinois has a problem in overseeing fuel quality.

    When I had a 2007 Jeep CRD, I stopped for fuel in Quincy, CA. The station had an antique pump for diesel. I had to go inside to activate it. The owner pointed out that that pump dispensed diesel fuel. I mentioned that the Jeep ran better on it. He couldn't believe that a Jeep ran on diesel. I said that well, you won't see much here as Cali won't approve these diesel Jeeps. Long story short, after filling my tank he was all agog to hear the engine. He was quite delighted! Amazed at how quiet it was.

      Have a tuner on it for a bit more pep and even better mpgs. I gets 700 miles on a tank

    Great info. as always. I have followed you for years when I had a 2010 Expedition with the 5.4. Now I recently bought a 2020 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. Love it! Just one concern about the Hot Shot Secrets Every Day Diesel. How does 1 ounce of additive effect 25 gallons of fuel? It's hard to believe that it would even make it down the fill tube, let alone mix with the fuel.

    Notice how at beginning of the video. He told a story about the piping company having problems with their trucks. This is a classic example of creating a problem that doesn’t exist so he can sell you something you don’t need. I’m driving a 2016 diesel truck now with 276k miles. It has the original common rail injectors and I’ve never put any addictive in the tank.

    Hi I'm from Canada and I work on European cars and I get a lot of Diesels and the fuel quality is great I'm from New Brunswick and I never see common rail pump failures we replace fuel filter as per manufacturers recommendations at 30 000 km's and I personally use fuel conditioners one thing to look for is to make sure the stuff that you put in the tank is clean Diesel safe meaning sulphur less than 15 particles per million.

    i have an 02 f350 7.3 9 inch lift on 37 in tires with banks stinger+ kit. the banks stuff really woke the engine up and made it fun to drive. over time i did notice the truck not dropping a gear when i mashed the pedal. i did the arch oil treatment thanks to powerstrokehelp and it helped out quite a bit. over time the truck still had great cold start but it never dropped a gear when i mashed the pedal
    some how fordtech dude and hotshots came across my feed. so i checked out the cost on amazon and found it quite a bit cheaper than arch oil . sooooooo i ended up with the diesel extreme and the edt. at this point i have 1/2 a bottle of the diesel extreme/boost in the tank . ran about 5 miles down the road and i'll be damned. mash the pedal the truck drops a gear turbo whines up and off we go. instant gratification. totally happy with these additives.

    What's the best way to treat or keep the oil clean for your diesel. Had a couple of oil changes and the oil stills look black thought it would have that fresh oil look for a few miles and would putting an amsoil bypass filter system on a 2015 F350 powerstroke hurt the system or void any warranty. Guess that's the soot from a diesel engine but trying to ease the wear. Thanks Enjoy your videos

    Hello, thanks for the great video! I have a 2018 ED with just under 20K miles and live in the West Suburban area of Chicago. I was very interested in your comment about the crappy fuel in Illinois so sort of obvious you have first hand local knowledge. I have asked the dealer several times if there was any benefit to adding anti-gel or other additives and there stock response has been "FCA does not recommend the use of any additives". I believe they are simply trying to avoid any kind of liability or avoid going against "the corporate line". But I think your video has me convinced otherwise. I do have one question, are you aware of where better quality fuel can be obtained in Illinois, that is, would you recommend a Thornton's over a Speedway or is there a particular fuel source you use? Thanks very much.

    I would like you to explain why biodiesel / B20 is bad for a diesel engine. Biodiesel made from soybeans is good for your engine and it provides lubricity. Biodiesel does clean fuel system and when your first switch to Biodiesel you will need to change fuel filters more often. As biodiesel cleans the fuel system the fuel filters will get dirty quicker. I have experience operating semi-tractors and new and old farm tractors that run on biodiesel without any problems.

    In the country where I live diesel with 500 PPM is the common stuff. The premium diesel is 50PPM. There are also no requirements for DEF and what not on diesel vehicles.
    What would happen if you had to put 50 or 500ppm in a modern US diesel truck?

    Is there anything that you mentioned that meets GM standards ? I just bought a brand new 3.0 duramax and don’t want to put some additive that if the engine fails for different causes would rather give them a chance of blaming the additive..also i leave in AB, Canada and we reach quite the temperature in winter so if there’s also something to add in winter with same criteria ?? Thanks for the video

    Couple questions:
    1) do you also use Hot Shot's Secret HSS32Z Stiction Eliminator when you do oil changes? If so does it work well the
    Pennzoil 550042833-6PK Platinum Euro L Full Synthetic Silver 5W-30 Motor Oil Lubricant
    2) do you also use Power Service 01016-09 +Cetane Boost Diesel Fuel Supplement in the winter time along with
    Hot Shot's Secret HSSEDT16ZS Everyday Diesel Treatment .
    Thanks

    • @RamEcoDieselSource
      @RamEcoDieselSource  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) No need for the stiction eliminator on this engine it has common rail fuel.2) I use the power service product you have listed in winter months exclusively as it contains cetane boost too. Only when temps will consistently be below 30 degrees though.

    As someone who works for a pipeline company I will tell you that it is true that the gas BP or any other oil company has at the station is more than likely not what they shipped from the refinery. It's what they add at their terminals that makes it theirs.

    • @eldoradony
      @eldoradony 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Brandon Arch Very true. Gasoline is a commodity and is also a fungible good. At he terminal, tankers fill up and sometimes add an additive to their load to make that load "Chevron with Techron" or "Mobil detergent gasoline". This is then delivered to your local gas station usually in an unbranded tanker with a changeable placard displaying the brand.

      Biocide (from what I understand) is for vehicles that sit a lot, or for fuel storage, or if you have a water/microbial problem in your diesel. Though using a little bit here and there for preventative maintenance can't hurt.
