    On a high school budget I’d say a ford ranger. Definitely not the coolest truck but there’s def some really clean ones and a huge following.

      I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado bought it with 244k on it with minimal rust for 2.6k the thing is a beast and so far has yet to give me trouble.

    Got my first truck almost 2 years ago when I was 19, 2001 ram with the 5.9 magnum, only payed $1500 for it and still going strong even when I lost a fight with a metal pole, those magnums are bulletproof and you can find them a lot cheaper than the 3rd gens with the hemis something that'll be more in the price range

      Same mines a 01 with the 5.2 and it has 210,000 miles with original transmission, engine and rear end. The transmission however needs to be serviced on time for it to last.

    My first truck was a cateye V8. It was definitely a nice truck and had around 250K miles and still ran amazingly but the rust got to it so I had to get rid of it as it was costly to fix the rusted parts. Get one without rust and you’re golden!

    Good list. My first truck was the Toyota t100. Tundras were still to expensive back then. Still have the truck 10 years later and she’s still running strong even tho she doesn’t get ran as much anymore

    My favorite out of the list is probably the first gen Tundra because it looks so damn good in my opinion plus Toyotas are made right here in America

    I’d recommend the 1st gen tundra I had bought one for my first truck but had sold it to my dad and it’s still running amazing with over 200k miles

    First truck was a 96 Chevy 1500. 5.7 liter V8 without any exhaust at all. Wasn't super special, but I loved punching it on the highway and hearing it roar.

    I had different cars through high-school, I got a job in a regular fast food place and bought my first trail blazer, it was really cool, leveled, all terrain tires, then got a job in construction and got a 2004 f150, really nice too, and in senior year and to prom night I showed up in a 2008 Silverado lifted, 33s on 20x12, bed cover, color match front end, tow mirrors. I had a great memories from high school!

    Man, when I started driving those trucks were either brand new or hadn’t come out yet. I wouldn’t trade my 77 dodge truck for anything for a first truck. 440 4 barrel edelbrock carb. 4 on the floor. They just don’t make them simple any more.

    If you can I recommend a 2000-05 Toyota Tacoma. They cost a bit more to buy, but parts are on the cheaper side and do pretty good on gas mileage

    I was blessed to have my parents help me out when I was 16 and I was able to get a new 2015 Tacoma and I could never thank them enough for that and I want to do the same for my kids. I’ve that the truck for over 5 years now and put 100k miles on it with no problems at all. Now I’m 21 and I’m looking to buy a 2020 ram 2500 Cummins all by myself

    im 18 with a 08 ram that has 78k miles. I have a custom paintjob that i did myself and i lifted it 6 inches with a nice set of wheels and tires. I can say this truck is very reliable and i have the 5.7 hemi so its quite fast as well.

      @@The_Ed_Hodgers Well I tore the whole thing apart and painted literally every part through and through. However it only took me 3 weeks and I had a full time job as well. The weekends is where most of the work got done. I was 17 at the time but I was a natural at painting so it was not so hard. Overall difficulty rating was like a 5 to 6 out of 10.

    Loving your videos. Just bought my first truck (2019 ram 1500) ever, as a 31 year old. I’ve probably binge watched 60 plus videos of yours lately getting ideas for what I want and learning the basics (thank god for your videos explaining basics). Have you guys ever thought of making an app, if for nothing else but to be able to view the gallery while you’re supposed to be working. The webpage is great but better controls inside an app would be really cool.

    I am almost 17. I bought a 1997 ford f250 hd when i was 15. I put dana 60s front and rear. 35x12.50x16s on it with a lift. Build a cab gaurd and resurected a lund lighted visor. It is a crewcab shortbox. It is super clean. It has a 460 and a 5 speed transmission. Perfect first pickup.

      I agree but damn,they $5,000 with no engine or blown engine whether it's a 4x4 or not..a good decent rust free one is $10 to $15 grand...same for 80s n 90s Broncos...and dont even get me started on Tacoma 4x4 prices...or like an 85 yota,last year of the straight axles..i sold mine due to hard times for $2,800.00 by far dumbest shit I ever did... Y'all hava good one!! 'MERICA

    01 f150 lariat is my first truck, perfect first truck, seats are nice leather, but other than that, its a no frills, pretty simple to learn truck, that i would recommend to anyone.

    I’ve literally been looking at cat eyes for the past few days. Rn I have a lifted 02 WJ and it’s time to make that just a trail rig. I was bouncing between the cat eye and the 2008 1500 Silverado. But this just answered my question. Time to look for a nice cat eye in the Tri state area. Thanks guys.

    I’m 18, and bought my first truck, a 1977 Chevy C20, for $700. Pulled a seized engine out of a north river river jet boat for free, rebuilt it and cammed for a solid 370 horses. She scoots. Newer trucks are cool, but damn the old stuff is fun

    Perfect. I love the cats eye. I've owned 3 of them. 06 2500hd 6.0, 04 1500 5.3, 05 2500hd lbz. The lbz was by far the fastest, funnest.

    Ahhhh my first truck. 07 lbz. Got it a week after turning 16 drive it 1k miles blew a head gasket wasted 4 injectors n it cost me about 4K for me to do it. Shop wanted around 6-8k pushing 490hp n prop 800ish ft lbs of torque

    i’m 15 and been working my ass off, bought me a 3rd gen 2006 5.7L cummins, 2005 7.3L powerstroke, a 2006 chevy s10 and now working on buying a 2008 or so chevy silverado 1500. Lol, i guess i’ll only be a truck guy and not a car guy for a while haha.

    When I turned 14 I bought my Cateye with a 6.0 and best of all it came with with a head gasket leak. And a dead radiator and it didn’t even have a thermostat 😀👍

    For some more info the 3rd gen rams, from 2003 onwards it offered the Hemi with 345 horsies, and also 2006 onwards it offered MDS (Which you should stay away from, if you have to get one with MDS, tune it out immediately to save your lifters, and also recommend changing the cam and lifters if the engine has some high mileage on MDS.). I'd stay away from the 4.7 V8 as it had some..issues.

    I have a 2001 silverado single cab with a 6in lift on 33s and 20 with the 5.3 , it is very reliable plus it nearly has 300,000 miles on it and I haven’t had any problems what so ever other than just simple wear and tear from running biggers tires ... i would recommend the round body silverados to anyone who likes them and is looking for their first truck , also the price for my entire setup (lift , wheels , tires) was barley over 2 grand . Very reliable and inexpensive for nice modifications

    Not saying it is within everybody’s budget however I think a obs 7.3 (NOT the 4door long bed) is a good first vehicle. A bigger truck makes you think about your clearances, isn’t super jumpy on the gas or brake, and it’s size can be a reassuring feeling because you know your not just going to be squashed easily by a reckless driver. I got my truck for none of those reasons lol I got it because it’s been my dream truck since the 3rd grade haha

    The 2002 dodge rams were still 2nd gen rams. 3rd gen rams started in ‘03 and ended in 2009/2010 depending on which model you got

    Im a ford guy that dailys a 2013 z71 silverado. My first truck was a 1998 v6 rwd dodge dakota. My dad bought it for me cheap. Didnt have a/c or heat. Humble little work truck. And i loved it. Gotta start somewhere. Taught me a lot of humility and how to fix things. Always gonna love that little bucket

    i bought a 2012 f150 3.5l turbo as my first car. i still have it, and i’m looking to upgrade , but it is great. reliable, decent gas mileage, and enough power to have fun. also, gets a lot of attention from girls ;)

      Yeah man, I salute you. I’m 15 I own a 2015 F-150 Lariat 5.0. My grandpa bought it brand new, ever since he got that truck I knew that that was the truck that I wanted. This truck is the vehicle that made me a ford guy. I’ve also been saving forever. When it’s done it will have a 2in lift, 33” Nitto ridge grapplers, 20” black rhino wheels, custom magnaflow exhaust, and more than likely supercharged. I don’t plan on ever selling the truck. I run a very little landscape company, so it will help out with that. Next truck will be a one ton 6.7 PowerStroke though.

    I never really leave a comment but I gotta say the 88-98 gm trucks are a solid first truck to buy. It’s my current starter and even though I’m pretty young they are really easy to work on and great if you’re on a budget cuz if you need a part there’s a 9/10 chance there’s a dude on fb marketplace parting one out. Love the videos and hope you guys show some light on these iconic American trucks. Might not have the luxuries of today’s trucks but they got the job done

    in my family we have had a 1999 silverado 1500 long bed reg cab with the 5.3 after 21 years and 135,000 miles of being in my family it is still going. it is a very reliable truck besides the trans slipping it is very great that happened 2 years ago

    I have a 4th gen ram and absolutely love the truck! I don’t have the Hemi engine but the 287 ci magnum V8 does just fine, already did some mods to it and I’m gonna lift it pretty soon.

    First truck was a 1969 Ford F-250. Still have her and would make the same choice to have it as my first vehicle again. It taught me to maintain it, how to rebuild a carburetor, bleeding brakes, flushing fluids and built upon my work ethic because I had to get a job just to put gas in it.

    I’m gonna get some shit for this but, the first gen Titan’s while some mods are few and thin overall they are great running trucks, with little to no mechanical issues, and are pretty easy to work on, on your own. This is from personal experience.

    My dad's 2000 Silverado has ran over 300,000 miles. It has NOTHING in the engine but he put a 3 inch lift kit, a leveling kit, racing differential, a C7 Z06 5-speed automatic transmission, and a 38 in tires on it. She's a beauty

    My Dad traded a 15 WRX for a stick shift 18 Tacoma TRD Off Road. My dad and I are planning not to do much to it since it's a TRD off road spec which is factory modified. Personally I'll also be driving a V6 08 Accord which was over made by Honda.

    My first truck was an 04 silverado 2500hd crew cab with the 6.0 v8. 1 owner no rust whatsoever.100k miles. Came with an ARE canopy and a leveling kit on 32s. Love it. Still have it. Drove it across the country from washington to tennessee with a trailer filled with everything I owned in it. Best road trip I've ever made lol. Averaged 200 miles per tank though lol. But it's still an awesome truck. The 6.0 sounds amazing with the flowmaster and the 3 inch exhaust. Saving up for a 6 inch lift. And some bigger wheels. Can't wait.

    I’m gonna be able to get my license in 2 years and I think I would probably get a Chevy Colorado, or maybe the new Ram Dakota that’s coming out soon because trucks are cooler than cars but I don’t need a full size truck

      If you can't even save up atleast 5k you shouldnt even be looking to get a vehicle yet. 5k is already cheap.

      @@brodykoopman problem is what about insurance, gas, maintenance, ect. 5k isn't expensive, thats alone should be the minimum at which ine should have to get a car. 5k isnt being rich. If you cant afford 5k, your definitely not going to be able to reliably keep up with regular maintenance and cost of ownership.

      They seem to be hit or miss. My dad has one with 216k with zero issues. Other then a manifold leak. No other issues. But I think he just got really lucky.

      they really are hit or miss. i have a post heritage 5.4 with 160k not a single problem. my dad has one aswell with 97k and has a manifold leak and a missing cylinder

    Saved up for a long time leading up to my 16th birthday. Finally got enough money to snatch a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500. I have loved the truck. 3 inch spacer level lift with room for 37s, but I have 35s because gas gets expensive once you start getting anywhere past 33s. I couldn’t be happier!!

    I bought an ex mining truck, 2008 Silverado 1500 reg cab long box 4.8 worktruck for $1800 put a whole new front end in it, put rancho quick lift leveling struts in it with 20x12 vision widows -51 with a 33”x12.5 deepdiggers 5% tint all around and brow, put an sct tuner in it with a spectre cold air intake and straight piped it out in front of back tire, wanna do a mild cam and put a stall 2800 with long tubes next😅 I watch you guys constantly and motivate myself to keep building love the content keep up the good work🤘🏻

    I sold my 2005 gmc sierra a few years ago with 435 k miles on the original engine. The guy drove it to Texas from North Dakota with no problems. Good trucks.
