Dustin rates a 7.3 powerstroke as an E because they make ok power for their time but nobody swaps them into anything else even though they have gone 300k plus without issues. The 12v makes less power until modified. Now the 6.0 is high on his list because you can buy them for cheap and then have to yank them out of the truck and spend the difference on them to make them even remotely reliable. But the turbos whistle good…. Going on power numbers, the 6.7 Powerstroke should be an S btw.

Tuning and building is something that I am not considering here because both engines can be built to make good power, that is just the nature of tuning/building engines.

7.3L is the most reliable before all the emission requirements, and 2014 or newer 6.7L Powerstroke is the most reliable all around truck, engine and transmission after the emission requirements came into effect with one caveat. You have to keep up on maintenance. I can’t emphasize that enough. I’ve had all the diesels just mentioned in the video, except the first gen Cummins and the only ones still in my possession are my 1997 OBS 7.3 Powerstroke and my 2014 6.7 scorpion Powerstroke. The 7.3 has 194k with no engine or tranny work needed other than regular maintenance with full synthetic oils and lubricants. I did however put a CTS3 with Hydra Chip in the OBS for better towing and daily driving power at 180k. The 6.7 has 245k with no engine or tranny work needed other than regular maintenance with full synthetic oils and lubricants. The 6.7 engine and tranny are completely stock. The reason I’d avoid the 2011-2013 6.7 Powerstrokes is because they had fuel rail issues that could grenade your engine and the upgraded fuel system wasn’t introduced until 2014.
