I have a 03 Silverado with 378,000 miles and the trans finally went out. We built the 60 with a shift kit, hardened sun shell, and all the good piston upgrades, and it’s good to go for a long time more. Original motor, I just opened the oil pan for the first time in its life.

Re the 6.7 Dodge/Rams. The 6.7 was first available in 2007.5, without DEF and the rest of the emissions package. They were the Third Generation body style through 2009. I’m running a 2008 3500, Mega Cab, with the Laramie package. I’ve got a little over 250,000-miles on it, and expect it to out live me.

My Chevy '01 K1500 5.3 has 236k miles on it as of today. Needed a new transmission at 220k and a new fuel pump at 210k. Other than that, it has been a workhorse for me. I drive a 2021 2500HD silverado now, but still love the old 1500 and can't bring myself to sell it. Its like a member of the family. Been so many places in Utah's back country with it and got me through some pretty gnarly stuff over the years. Keep them full of fluids and they will take you most anywhere you want to go.

Of the LS based engines the ol’ 6.0 vortec takes the nod for me. I have had many with service body’s for work that I had to beat the snot out of and over loaded but they all went 300k miles and got traded in. The highest miles on a 6.0 vortec I’ve seen was a Chevy express 3500 box van and the thing had 564,000 miles.

Neighbour borrowed it to haul cattle with my big gooseneck and blew the motor. Never even let me know he just parked it.
For some people nothing is reliable as you need half a brain and some level of maintenance or you can roast anything.

You’d make a fine professor…in a mechanical college where the course is called badass pickup trucks history 101: ride or die edition (why not to buy a 21st century pickup) 😎

My dads work truck 98 Tacoma has got 362k miles. Been abused to hell and back, and the only real issue was the clutch going out at 212k and 307k
