  • DISCUS can be used independently as a single source for communication via the cellular network and can also take advantage of legal peer-to-peer encrypted voice communications using smart phone applications such as Signal or other applications. DISCUS will allow for the headset to be used simply as "ear buds" with your cellphone for making calls, listening to music, podcasts, and movies. When serving in an audio pass through role the headset does not need to be powered on.

    This is a nice clean setup for cell phone integration or tunes! Very nice quality sound too! Works well with the AMP headset!

      You have it? Does it really work quite well? I Just got the headset. And am looking at this discus to be able to play music mainly or accept phone calls when training.

    Definitely make sure the downlead is plugged in all the way. I may or may not have drunkenly fumbled with it last night, plugging and unplugging stuff for a good 20 minutes last night before I finally said f it and thought I was going to break it. It takes some force to get it seated all the way.

      R u serious because I'm having the same issue but I'm using the cable I got from opscore and I didn't want to risk breaking anything or if I needed a different cable because it is coming through just faint af.

      Totally agree I thought suppressors or kind of lame the first time I tried them, I thought night vision was like a superpower. And thermal was just comical. This is somewhere between suppressors and night vision for me.

    This is remarkable tech. My only complaint is the amount of space this thing takes up on the chest rig or plate carrier. Incorporating a PTT would be a major step forward.
    Um, no I don't care how hard that would be...
    Go ahead and nuke my bank account some more. It's ok, really. It is. It's ok.

    How does the communication work when you're on a radio and a phone call. Like if I'm on a phone call via bluetooth do I press the PT to talk via bluetooth? But then does it also go through the radio the talk?

    I'm assuming since you state, "* NOT COMPATIBLE WITH AIRCRAFT ICS *"
    That means my aircraft DC H10-74XL would not work. I'm assuming the wiring is not compatible.

    Is there a way to push to talk on phone calls?
    If not, does that mean that my mic is hot the entire time on a call?
    If I use the PTT on my radio, does the microphone simultaneously feed mic input to the phone and the radio?

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mic is hot while on a call and your audio will be transmitted through both the phone & radio.

      Can you use PTT on a regular phone call with no radio?

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duomaxwell7862 No. The PTT and DISCUS work independently of each other. The PTT function only works with a radio.

    • @W34RD07
      @W34RD07 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION So if I talk to someone in the phone he will hear me talking constantly and when I use PTT on the radio and the receiving end of the radio will only get anything from me if I press the PTT?
      And if somone speaks through the radio the one on the phone call doesn't hear the radio chatter but only me even if I press the PTT?

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@W34RD07 The receiving caller will only hear your voice when you use the PTT when using professional grade PTTs, which DISCUS was tested with, including DISCO32 PTTs.
      To summarize, if you are on a phone call while connected to PTT, your voice will be heard to the caller when using the PTT unless you mute your audio on your phone. The other person on the call will not hear the audio coming from your radio.

    That plug terminal sticking out just screams "I WILL BREAK" 😂
    But hey, it's a cheap fix for those that don't want to go all netwarrior with a hub using glenair and AMC connections. People complain about $$$ spent on comms but they should remember that others have a set $3000 peltor H²O , $850 Atlantic signal PTT, $450 Juggernaut EUD, $300 Aux power bank, $700 Star-Pan integrated soldier multiport data/power hub, $400 worth of cables ect.... And we haven't even added a radio yet. 😂 Add a multi net with a couple $10,000 units and things get interesting.. FHSS with integrated drone control for C⁴ISR is where it's at.
