Countless…. I’ve watched COUNTLESS tutorials in the last week on how to make these bags and I haven’t sat down to give it a go because I’m so intimidated by the zipper (haven’t sewn one yet) and also wanted to find a boxy bag with no raw edges on the inside but also not have to use twill tape or something similar… you hit every single nail on the head. THANK YOU SOOO SO SO VERY MUCH for this. 💕
Girl zippers are easy, when covid hit my first sew was mask then zipper pouch and zipper are so easy, not as scary as you think. I was like you oh my I was scared but jump in an was do amazed and made 3 zipper pouch an was hook
I got hundreds (literally) of zippers at a thrift store for pennies (50 for 1.99!) They were all brown, lol- but…. I actually found a bunch of fabric (same thrift store) that coordinated and found the simplest zippered pouch tutorial (no boxed corners, just a flat pouch) and sewed about 2 dozen or more, one after another. I don’t claim to be an expert or anything but I’m no longer afraid of them. I do use tips and tricks to help make them look their best, like Scor Tape…. It’s a very thin double sided tape that holds the zipper into place so you dont have to worry about it sliding about….. I’m even ordering all kinds of pretty zippers now for the pouches I make that I want to give as gifts! Try it!
This is by far the ABSOLUTE BEST boxy pouch pattern & tutorial. I plan of making more with my scraps of cork & wax canvas. I did the medium to try it out. Will now make the large. After making the medium, don't think I will be making the small. Thanks again.
You really are incredible! Your attention to detail in your explanation is far beyond what one would expect from a TH-cam video. I’ve learned so much from you!!!!
well I must say, even though I'm already quite good at making boxy bags, I really wanna thank you for taking the time to make such a detailed video, there's always something one can learn, isn't it 😂 thanks an hugs from Germany 🥂♥️👍
Jessica - seriously you are an incredible teacher. Not only is the best boxy pouch tutorial I have seen, this is the most explanatory tutorial I have ever seen. Keep them coming. Thank you!!!
Finally someone who understands that we are capable of critical thinking and shortcuts are only for those that are terrified of nonperfection! I’ve been sewing and tailoring for 50+ years( plus being ADHD so impulsive and impatient) but never bothered with bags til now,so I’m soooooo bored listening to videos that have to go through the basics Every time!!! I get you girl, you’re amazing!
Best TH-cam Teacher ever! You don't drag it out. I enjoy watching you and your projects. You present perfectly and I don't feel I must be perfect. Thank You!!!
Jess--- It is super generous of you to make this video showing even more options! Nice work! I encourage everyone to pull that zipper pull off like she showed so the end of the zipper is closed. It is SOOOOOO much better to have a closed zip end & it just gives you more practice of getting the pull on correctly. You can do it!!! 🎉

I’ve tried a few box shaped zipper storage bags. At last I’ve found one that works beautifully! Thank you you for the fantastic, detailed instructions. You’re a star 🌟 x
Thank you so much, I had been binding the edges rather than doing the double you know the eight corner method and I really appreciate your detailed explanation.
Thank you for doing this again. Using your old video I made 12 monogrammed bags from cork for the bridesmaids and groomsmen for my daughters wedding in 2021. They all loved them.
31:20 corner size and end result correlations are flipped. Larger cut corners will result in taller boxes with the other two dimensions smaller, because the size of the corner is actually 1/2 of the finished height.
Thank you for this video!! I have watched so many other boxy bag videos and I just couldn't follow what they showing. Your video is so clear and easy to follow!
After watching countless videos of how to make a box bag I’ve come to my final destination. Your tutorial answered so many questions that I had. Now with a clear understanding about size adjustments, ratios and methods I feel confident in proceeding with my first bag. Thank you and yes I subscribed. 😍
Thank you for this video. I really appreciate all the detail and how you added the dimensions in a bright color so I can find it easily. Very well thought out!!
I continuously watch sewing you tube videos and this is the first comment I’ve made as I want to thank you for an amazing pattern and tutorial. I’ve made boxy pouches before but wanted to give this one a try, just finished my first one and it’s turned out brilliantly, so thank you again for this wonderful pattern and such an informative and comprehensive tutorial
Your videos are so clear and concise-thanks also for all the little extra tips you share-I think I went through 3 or 4 in one sitting to see what other tutorials you provide
Just made one of these and Thankyou it is brilliant, just off to look at more of your patterns. Only downs is I am in the UK and buying the fabrics is not easy here.
Love your cork! You make it look so easy to work with too! I must try it! The Halloween one was adorable!! I cut everything to make all 3 sizes. I’m going to order some of the 809 you suggested but in the meantime I used Fusible Fleece (on cotton exteriors) and SF101 on the linings. It worked well!! ..the pouches are holding their shape quite good. I even used some SF101 on an upholstery fabric that probably didn’t NEED it…. I have to say I struggle with this method though. I cut enough for 2 small from fat quarters and gave up on the 2nd one and left the raw edges. It still made a cute pouch. The medium was a LITTLE better, but still barely have room sew the boxed corners. I was concerned I missed something and then realized I cant compare since you didnt film the sewing part. I’m going to sew the large since i have the fabrics cut, but want to figure out why its so hard to get the boxed corner under my presser foot, when I manages, I can barely get the 1/4 inch. Would love some feedback/Tips if you know what might be wrong. Thanks for the video, I liked and Subscribed!
Shut the front door love this video you explained it so well thanks so much. I have an aldi cold redusable bag its a good size and they dont sell them no more and i cant figure out how to sew one my self wish i had a pic of one to show u to see if it possible to sew one. They have canvas on outside. I want to make more 1 they hold lots and 2 so so sturdier then the plastic ones amd it even has a zipper to close it up too which i love
Just discovered your channel, a bit late, but just in time for Christmas this year 😊. I have been on your tutorial page looking for the pattern and I have seen the boxy (cork) bags but then Zi did find a download for revised lined boxy bags and it is just one page if the description for the pieces. I'm assuming that is all I need? Thank you for the great tutorial. Maree, Sydney Australia
I used 809 decor bond on all pieces. Followed the directions on applying the 809, it adhered nicely. But when I boxed the corners, it started pealing apart. I didn’t pre wash the fabric, was there a finish on the fabric that would repel the adhesive. Also, i had a heck of a hard time boxing corners. There is not enough room when sewing to keep them straight. Now i know why you do that off camera. 😮 would it be easier if the cut (boxing) is 1 inch instead of 1 1/2”. Thanks you for your video, I enjoyed your teaching style.
@@TrishaLediard The instructions that are included with fusible interfacing, in my opinion, are not the best. Fusible interfacing needs consistent heat and pressure to properly adhere. I never pre wash my fabric. I have an interfacing video if you would like to watch that as well. As for boxing the corners and sewing off camera, the reason I do it is for editing purposes. I’m not hiding anything. It’s just much easier to edit one camera view instead of two. Plus the video would be twice as long. You can cut your corners whatever size you would like, but it will change the height and width of the bag itself.
@@SewManyCreations thank you, I will try a hotter setting when fusing. The instructions say Wool but it wasn’t hot enough. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to insult you with my comment about boxing corners, i just had such a hard time sewing them. Your sewing style is perfection which I subscribe too also, so i really enjoyed the video.
