Wow how times have changed! Jess was using cotton thread, universal needles and METAL zipper tape?!?! I like seeing how people started off vs how they have grown. We tend to think that TH-cam creators are perfect and they know what's best. But this goes to show that we all learn and grow from our experiences. ❤️

I was asked to make zipper pouches. Somehow I got into BoxyPouchLand and of course, confused myself by watching too many videos. I took a break for a few hours to work on a quilt and then checked your playlist for a boxy pouch tutorial I knew I’d understand. 17 hours after starting down this detour, I finally understand. Closing the hole on the inside made my night/day/night. Thanks, Jess!

I love your thorough instructions, and that you mention the seam allowances and stitch lengths...things that some other tutorials leave out! I'm going to try this as very soon, but since I've made a few other kinds of zipper bags I feel confident that it will turn out great!

I know it’s been five years since this video was made, but I just finished making my first box today. A couple of personal notes: my zipper was extra wide so I should’ve gone a little closer, and I should have used thinner or none in the pull tabs to make it easier for those with arthritis or big fingers…other than that it turned out perfect. Thank you so much for this.

Your tutorials are so good! I love that when you're showing the pieces to cut, you trace along the piece as you say the dimension. Sometimes it's hard to tell which side is which when the measurements are close, or if the whole piece isn't shown.
I've used mesh adn elastic for bag pockets before, adn what I found works great is to cut the elastic a little bit shorter, then stretch it as I sew it on (with a zig zag). This helps snug the top of the pocket in just a bit to keep items more secure, but allows it to open fully still.
I can't wait to make this enhanced bag!

for the past 4 weeks I made 5 of these!! I started sewing about 2 months ago and this is my favorite pattern so far!! Thanks so much Jess!!!-the 2 smaller pockets are perfect for holding cards, and in the larger sole pocket I put my passwords and receipts and stamps and whatnot. I use it as a wallet. This is like the LeSportsac Rectangular but bigger. I also made a version with a skinny strap as a small crossbody-I used ribbon for the strap. I'm a beginner lol not that polished yet. Am having so much fun.

Hi, thank you for this latest tutorial.
Just wanted to pass on a tip for you (ok 2 tips). First is to press a bag that has meltable components, use your hair dryer. Filling the cavity with the super hot air gives fantastic results (works for gathered sleeve heads too). The second tip is to have a small pair of hair straighteners next to the machine to press small cotton areas (even works for quilt seams). Hope this helps.

@@OklaRoots well I got my sew jo back well maybe a little I managed 2 boxy bags and 2 flat bags, as I went wrong on them, I add a leather hand made label with rivets but put them to near the corners and the I couldn't box the corners 🤭 we learn by our our mistakes, I will try again and thanks again for a great video 😊

I made it! Yay. I have never made a bag like this. Thanks. My lining is too big, I guess I didn't measure correctly, I did make one pocket and that seems large as well. I didn't have fuseable fleece so next one I will try it as I do like the stiffer kind. I made mine with tree camoflag top and red canvas bottom. Thank you for your detailed and fun tutorial!

Thank you for the fantastic tutorial! Just made on for my mother to carry playing cards and nickels. I added D-rings on the zip tabs and a short strap.

Another great tutorial. Thank you. I have two helpful hints for you. Get a silicone spatula to push against fabric edges for pressing. Saves fingers. Also, I put my Taylor’s ham inside the bags, all sizes, to iron against. I have also put on a silicone oven mitt for the hand going inside the bag to iron against. ❤

At the 43:07 mark, to match up the two tone fabric part, if you have one seam allowance going in one direction and the other SA going in the opposite direction, they will 'lock in' better and not have as much tendency to shift :)
    Great tutorial, thank you!

Great tutorial! You make things so easy to understand. I wish we had tutorials ummmm... 40 years ago when I sewed like crazy almost every day. I love your presentation you are confident and it makes it look easy. Hope you are enjoying the blessings of this day.

I love watching your tutorials. I am at the beginning stages of sewing. During this Covid19 quarantine you have taught me how to sew a top stitch, add a zipper, use interfacing, and box a corner. With your help I have made a reusable zip pouch, the tote bag, face masks and a boxy bag! You have kept me sane and challenged during this unique time in history. Thank you most sincerely for your tutorials, your time, and your talent. You have been a blessing! Much much appreciation,
    Peggy
I would love to send a gift card to Florida if you could provide your address that would be great!

Thanks so much for sharing all the great patterns! I made one of the itty bitty boxy bags on Fridays and then one of these yesterday. It came out so cute! I cut the outer fabric as one big piece (13.5" x 16.5") and stitched diagonal lines 1" apart to give it a quilted look. I think I'm hooked on bag making now, because I want to make ALL the patterns! lol

Love your tutorial ❤️ 😂🎉. My hands are now, very arthritic and don't obey my orders!! But Id like to try a larger one if possible. Do you have some measurements for larger sizes, by chance? Thx for your excellent video. Ive already made some awesome totes, so the plan is, to make a bag to go inside 😀 that matches.
