Wyatt - great job - and Fred, love all your shows / comments! And really appreciate you reaching out to the bourbon community to understand what we would like to see.

Old Forester 1920 is a banger. IMO it beats out the majority of allocated whisky. My dad and I make a bottle of 1915 every Thanksgiving and enjoy it Christmas dinner.

While i only own and or have bought one of these (the McKenna) the weller is definitely much more tasty and smooth in my opinion. Unfortunately the weller is just far too expensive for me and/or difficult to find.

@Fred Minnick So should we all start sending you coffee instead of whiskey (thus keeping the whiskey(s) for ourselves)? 😁

    Hi Fred
LOVE your channel and expertise. I have an opportunity to purchase a Henry McKenna 10year BIB from 2009. I know it is overpriced at $100. My question is whether that year is one of the better bottles or are they all fairly comparable? Thank you. My condolences for father-in-law. 🙏

thank you, joe. bottled before 2018 seems to be the sweet spot

@@FredMinnick Thank you “sensei of spirits”. After watching about 20 reviews on you tube, the consensus (tongue-in-cheek) is that Fred Minnick is the culprit for the massive buy-up, hoarding and mark ups on Henry McKenna. It’s got to be tough being the truthful master.

Fred, understand your distain for synthetic cork. Is that just in terms is aesthetics? From a spirit standpoint the breath ability of cork is a negative in terms of preserving (although it could be argued with a plastic stopper on top what difference does it make). Certain spirits (rum/gin/bourbon) change dramatically in taste after they have been opened. Some have argued that the tight synthetic cork is better for preserving. Are you not in that camp?

As someone who buys old dusty scotch at auction, I've really come to despise natural cork. Unless you're going to drink a bottle within 2-3 years of it being bottled, a screwtop or synthetic cork is simply superior to wood. I've lost track of the number of broken/shriveled/crumbly/porous corks I've had to deal with over the years. I know everyone likes a cork pop and the nice squeak and the reassurance that you're drinking something classy and all that, but - speaking as a designer here - sometimes function > form.
