Nice review! Picked it up at Costco for 55.00 bucks in June 2024! My first bottle was terrible until it was half gone then it was just okay. Tried a second bottle and it’s been very nice! Cheers!
You missed a lot of what bottled in bond actually means. Other important parts it must be exactly 100 Proof. It also has to be made in an official federally bonded facility.
I love everything about this family the mckennas I mean the history behind them is amazing I actually live in their original house and right down the street is the original distillery the history is so rich an amazing
Another great review. I already had two bottles in my hoards and I went to the liquor store today and found it on sale for $24.99 a bottle and snatched up two more. Great bourbon for the price.
7:20 first sip. I love these guys but he's right it takes them a little while to get to it. I'm in the liquor store and I need notes before I buy. Just wish there was timestamp tags for tasting notes
Went way back in the episodes for this one. I bought this yesterday and tried it tonight, one of my new favorite bourbons. This is also my first BIB. There will be more on face book, but I noticed ya'll had a screw cap and mine is a cork.
Bought and tried some HK10 yesterday. The one thing that really struck me is the finish. If you've been in an old rick house, I'm sure you know what the smell is like in there (not saying it's a bad thing either) and this is what I got on the finish. Could literally taste the storage condition if that makes any sense. Also got strong aroma of oak initially.
Elixir Spirits in Spring Hill, TN pairs allocated whiskey's with half gallons or other brands that dont sell as well but you get the allocated at retail.....this and a half gallon of regular Mckenna or a 1/5 of elijah craig was less than 75 and its 2022!!
The shirt Rex has on is kind of epic with that 'Where is Waldo?' vibe. Hope the Henry McKenna 10 is as good as it sounds, because the price just keeps going up. Cheers to great reviews and humor!
We actually bought them off a kickass brewery in town (Jester King) who had originally bought them from a kickass vineyard in town (Becker Vineyards). Then I spent two days adding 4 separate layers of linseed oil to bring back the color, hard screwed the hoops on to keep them in place, and purchased a 10 dollar glass top from a local home store.
Watching this in January 2020...hilarious! I thought you two were bourbon guys (primary) and scotch (secondary)...now I know, it was Scotch as your first love.
i've tried scotch a couple of times and i'm not there yet either. that peaty flavor stands out too much, making every scotch taste the same to me...aka not very good. bourbon is far more appealing and i can taste the differences between each one.
I’m not a Scotch guy either. I don’t hate Scotch. I enjoy a Macallan or a Glenfiddich (I do not enjoy the smoky Scotch’s at all). I just like the sweetness of bourbon far more than the floral, fruity flavors of Scotch. Bourbon also has more oak influence than Scotch, which I greatly enjoy.
The day I bought my first bottle of Henry's, There were exactly 12 bottles available in the state of Oregon (state ran liquor stores). I had to either wait 2 weeks or make a long road trip. I decided to do the wait. The price was right...$34.95, plus a tip for the gal who "ordered" it for me (Bless her). My first taste let me know that 100 proof meant 100 proof! A small ice cube after the initial taste cooled it down enough to enjoy the flavors. I do recommend Henry's, as a good bourbon at a FAIR price....IF...you can find it! CHEERS!
Henry McKenna Bottle in Bond has different tastes with different barrels. Just so you are all aware. The notes are very different. On some I get a banana cream and on some more of an apple pie taste gets in the bottle. So the interesting thing is that there are different tastes from the different barrels. It is good, just different and not consistent.
I had my first taste of Henry McKenna at a Liquor Barn liquor store in Louisville. For a buck or two, you can taste just about any bourbon they sell, plus white whales like Elmer T Lee and Pappy. I agree McKenna is damn good for the price. I have it in my stash, but an equally good bargain is Evan Williams Single Barrel.
Even though I have lot's of Scottish ancestry, i prefer Bourbon over Scotch.. Henry McKenna 10yr ,single barrel, bottle in bond is one of my favorites but i wish that it hadn't doubled in price. From $37 to now $82
Watching in 2021 and it's amazing how this bourbon has shot up from "around $30". Just picked some up for $70 since I haven't had a bottle in a couple years. Damn.
“Bottled in bond” also refers more so to the government restrictions placed on bourbon after prohibition where bootleggers were cutting whiskey with things like formaldehyde to have a larger stock. “Bottles in bond” alludes to the fact that THIS whiskey is pure and does not have falsities in it
So good! But I prefer less sweet. I had some Glenlivet 12 hanging around, and mixed the two one for one. I'd love to know what you think! I'd also really love to see more of you blending since that's what you said you'd love to do in one of your videos. I think it was one of the advent ones, as there was no Rex.
RIP Henry McKenna....your prices and availability will now officially transcend into Weller 12 territory after this video. :-( (great video as always tho guys)
Favorite bourbon is probably Knob Creek. Tastes tend to share a lot of similarities across bourbons (you'll see a lot of "caramel" and "brown sugar" and "cherry" and "maple"), but you'll have outliers like Clyde Mays, with its cobbler-esque palate and pecan pie finish, or New Holland's Beer Barrel Bourbon which has that distinct hoppy flavor with undertones of nougat and toffee, or Yellowstone with its limey citrus and smokey spice. Scotch can be nice, though one of the things that probably drove me away from it and more towards the Irish and Bourbon whiskey's, is that I'm not a fan of peat, and the Irish do un-peated whiskey so much better to me, and Bourbon's are just so much better in regards to sweet whiskeys.
Henry McKenna was the whiskey of choice of the late great Skeeter Skelton. He’s probably spinning in his grave at the $50 price tag the hipsters hyped it up to.
You did it backwards.Taste H. McKenna first, get your taste buds used to that, then try Balcones. They compliment each other, but this way, Balcones explodes. Fantastic.
I believe (OK I know) that you're confusing straight bourbon and BIB. BIB has to be 4 years old period. Straight can be under 4 but must say so if it is.
Yes that's totally right. We shoot these on the fly, and when I mix up terms in my head, I leave them in mistakes and all ;-) Bottled in Bond has the most restrictive requirements of all American Whiskey. minimum 4yrs, one distillery, one master distiller, and one season. Straight, minimum 2yrs, state the age under 4yrs. Bourbon, as long as it touches wood, it's good to go ;-) thanks, Triplecap!
I completely agree. Yes, all corrections are encouraged. We decided when we started shooting these to never go back and edit mistakes. Sometimes it can get embarrassing when you realize you said something totally stupid because you weren't paying attention. ;-)
Yes we have to thank Scottish and Irish immigrants for Whiskey and a German who came to Kentucky and started a obscure tiny distillery called Jim Beam too.
Hi, Can you let me know what year was your bottle barreled ? I have a bottle from 2007 and does not have screw cap, but cork. Secon thought - I prefer Evan Williams Single Barrel over McKenna 10 BIB.
Jason Voorheese - I guess you’re in the minority then. My main point was for the oldest form of whisky (scotch) they tend to rely on other countries for the most important part of the maturation process; the barrel. From bourbon, sherry, rum and everything else, scotch kind of phones it in with relying on others to provide for them. It’s kind of lazy IMO. Kentucky Bourbon is completely self sufficient; from the grain, the water, the barrel is all sourced from Kentucky (a single state). Pompous scotch drinkers like “the mooch” just don’t get that
You mean you are legelly kept from needing scotch or using scotch or experimenting with scotch. I am not in scotch camp or bourbon camp, because its stupid to be, i am in whiskey camp. Go whiskey!
Obviously this is a older video. Do you still believe bourbon doesn't have as much complexity as scotch? I totally disagree. Especially with everything distilleries are doing today. Experimenting with different barrel finishes, different grains , etc. I think bourbon is every bit complex. it's just that it took people over 200 years to finally realise some of the best whiskey in the world is made right here in the U.S.A.
Nice review! Picked it up at Costco for 55.00 bucks in June 2024! My first bottle was terrible until it was half gone then it was just okay. Tried a second bottle and it’s been very nice! Cheers!
Wow... 5 years later it's $85 a bottle and hard to find.
I just scored one today for 49.95 and I managed to get the last one! Great stuff.
$95 when I can find it in louisville.
Found mine online for 69 bucks
60 in ohio sad how the price varies.
Just paid $86 yesterday for the last bottle in the shelf. I had no idea it was once a $38 bottle.
Fast forward to 2021 and Henry McKenna bib single barrel 10 year is $55 in my area. Oh how that times and prices have changed.
$86 and flies off the shelf here in 2023.
You missed a lot of what bottled in bond actually means. Other important parts it must be exactly 100 Proof. It also has to be made in an official federally bonded facility.
@Léon Joseph Marie Ignace Degrelle exactly, a lot was missed on this video. It feels like they just hit record without doing proper research.
@Searat there was a comment here and looks like they deleted it.
I love everything about this family the mckennas I mean the history behind them is amazing I actually live in their original house and right down the street is the original distillery the history is so rich an amazing
Video starts at 6:12
Thanks I'm tired of their dumb rambling
Saved me 4 minutes. I was 2 min in.
Funny I paused at 7:12 and started reading comments
God bless u
Another great review. I already had two bottles in my hoards and I went to the liquor store today and found it on sale for $24.99 a bottle and snatched up two more. Great bourbon for the price.
5 years later in Connecticut I just paid 65 for it.
Why did the coffee file a police report? It got mugged.
7:20 first sip. I love these guys but he's right it takes them a little while to get to it. I'm in the liquor store and I need notes before I buy. Just wish there was timestamp tags for tasting notes

I love Henry McKenna BiB. But my favorite bourbon, hands-down, is Old Grand-Dad 114. But this is without a doubt a great bourbon!
Better than OGD BiB?
Went way back in the episodes for this one. I bought this yesterday and tried it tonight, one of my new favorite bourbons. This is also my first BIB. There will be more on face book, but I noticed ya'll had a screw cap and mine is a cork.

If you can't have fun drinking, then you shouldn't be drinking... Happy to see you guys having fun!
Elixir Spirits in Spring Hill, TN pairs allocated whiskey's with half gallons or other brands that dont sell as well but you get the allocated at retail.....this and a half gallon of regular Mckenna or a 1/5 of elijah craig was less than 75 and its 2022!!
Thanks so much, I'm always on the look out for a new bourbon other than what was my favorite, Markers.
I bought some shoes from a drug dealer. I don't know what he laced them with, but I was tripping all day!
THAT is truly awesome....really tied one on that day!
Flash back not silver back.take a step find an African black barrel and trip on that..........silverback South African black bbl whisky.
This is one of my favorites right now. Just picked up two more bottles yesterday.
I having some right now for the first time and it's pretty darn good .... thanks for putting me on to it bro's
@4:12 tries to rinse a new glass then confirms alright I am drunk!! Ah gotta love Rex hilarious keep up the great videos Daniel and Rex.
My favorite so far is makers mark 46 trying this on next
The shirt Rex has on is kind of epic with that 'Where is Waldo?' vibe. Hope the Henry McKenna 10 is as good as it sounds, because the price just keeps going up. Cheers to great reviews and humor!
I've been unable to find it until now and its $99
Just paid $86 for it here in 2023, and that’s the first time I’ve seen it under $100
Where did you guys get those barrel tables? Custom made?
We actually bought them off a kickass brewery in town (Jester King) who had originally bought them from a kickass vineyard in town (Becker Vineyards). Then I spent two days adding 4 separate layers of linseed oil to bring back the color, hard screwed the hoops on to keep them in place, and purchased a 10 dollar glass top from a local home store.
You know its an early episode because Rex is actually pretending to listen to Daniel instead of just enjoying the whisky.
Watching this in January 2020...hilarious! I thought you two were bourbon guys (primary) and scotch (secondary)...now I know, it was Scotch as your first love.
The is my absolute favorite bourbon, ever.
What about barrel char? That changes flavors
What years did this win.
I prefer Bourbon myself. Just can't get into Scotch right now. I'm trying .
Ryan The Wine Guy Glenlivit....go from there
i've tried scotch a couple of times and i'm not there yet either. that peaty flavor stands out too much, making every scotch taste the same to me...aka not very good. bourbon is far more appealing and i can taste the differences between each one.
I agree with every comment on this chain
I’m not a Scotch guy either. I don’t hate Scotch. I enjoy a Macallan or a Glenfiddich (I do not enjoy the smoky Scotch’s at all). I just like the sweetness of bourbon far more than the floral, fruity flavors of Scotch. Bourbon also has more oak influence than Scotch, which I greatly enjoy.

hm, 100 proof should not be that rude 🤔
I didn’t know what YLO meant. Love you guys
Not sure why this episode isn't in the "Latest Episodes" list. Had to do a special search to find the Lost Episode: #7 ;-)
So are you saying George Dickel Bottled in Bond can't be labeled "Bottle in Bond" because they don't have the same master distiller?
Just popped this bottle open last night along with 86 proof OLD FORESTER. AND BLACK EAGLE. Damn this one is good.
Holy sh1t there is way more whiskey in the vault 2019!
I just paid $62 in RI it's very good and at the price of bourbon now that's a decent price
Henry McKenna Bottle in Bond has different tastes with different barrels. Just so you are all aware. The notes are very different. Rex’s 4th shirt returns
By the way, drinking whiskey/whisky in a room temperature setting. then going outside if it's cold, you can get full nose and flavors.
I had my first taste of Henry McKenna at a Liquor Barn liquor store in Louisville. For a buck or two, you can taste just about any bourbon they sell, plus white whales like Elmer T Lee and Pappy. BEER2WHISKEY sure would be nice if we could do that in Texas. Taste before you buy? Yeah!
Wow I can tell this was an older video. Glad yall are much more polished now
Currently sold out at Total Wine and More in NW Washington $39.99 plus taxes
July 1, 2020 - if Daniel was 1 inch taller and 50 pounds heavier he would be my twin brother.
Yeeeeeew goin back in time today boys. Best part about ads is, comment typing time.
One of my first whiskeys, can’t find it anywhere it Southern California anymore.
Edit: just found it at a total wine near me. Limited 1 per purchase.
Did you mention that to be Bottled in Bond it must be 100 proof?
Henry MeKenna is about the best for the money I’ve spent. Can only find it in Minnesota. Only a 3 Hr drive. 80 dollars a bottle up here.
Damn! In Connecticut it's extremely hard to find but I got one today for 65.
I have a friend who loved those Hot Tamales cinnamon candies. He would love Henry McKenna BiB.
Even though I have lot's of Scottish ancestry, i prefer Bourbon over Scotch.. Henry McKenna 10yr ,single barrel, bottle in bond is one of my favorites but i wish that it hadn't doubled in price. From $37 to now $82
LOL OMG so funny to watch an early episode
You guys have come a long way... lol.
Bottled in Bond also has to be locked in a Federally Bonded warehouse also.
Watching in 2021 and it's amazing how this bourbon has shot up from "around $30". Just picked some up for $70 since I haven't had a bottle in a couple years. Damn.
Better than Pappy $30 to $1500 or even weller $20 to $300. Everything euthanized even a little bit of a following shot up
Going back in time and seeing Waldo Rex is pretty entertaining.
Bottled in bond must be at least 4 years old. No age statement is required but 2 years doesn’t cut it.
Thank you, thank you magnificent bastards for turning me onto this spirit. The Henry McKenna 10, when you get around to talking about it.
This whole show is like your favorite bottle of whisky... you want a consume it all at once
REX, DANIEL, try this with honey roasted peanuts. super complimentary
Now look how far Rex has came
“Bottled in bond” also refers more so to the government restrictions placed on bourbon after prohibition where bootleggers were cutting whiskey with things like formaldehyde to have a larger stock. “Bottles in bond” alludes to the fact that THIS whiskey is pure and does not have falsities in it
Called it 2 years ago. Prices should spike soon.
Drinking this now. It’s nice.

Oh man, that sounds amazing. And yes, we absolutely need to blend more. duly noted.
RIP Henry McKenna....your prices and availability will now officially transcend into Weller 12 territory after this video. :-( (great video as always tho guys)
G3ekbox just got my first bottle tonight (January 2020) for $44 and that’s the best price I’m finding
I just bought a bottle for $33.99. It's easier to find than Weller 12.

There are tons of non-peated scotch whiskies fyi. Irish whisky to me is super boring because of the triple destillation.
Henry McKenna was the whiskey of choice of the late great Skeeter Skelton. He’s probably spinning in his grave at the $50 price tag the hipsters hyped it up to.
It's going for 200 hundo online now.
That’s completely ridiculous. Looks like my second bottle will be my last. It’s excellent, but $50 is really pushing it.
The regular HM is still $10 per fifth.
@@kirbyculp3449 it's all good lol 👍
You did it backwards.Taste H. McKenna first, get your taste buds used to that, then try Balcones. They compliment each other, but this way, Balcones explodes. Fantastic.
We'll try it again! Always an excuse :-)
I’ll just binge watch till they say their first here’s to fighting stealing and drinking hahaha
4/21/19, you just taught me what that yolo acronym means.
I have to try this and make my own opinion. The Reviews are mixed... Love / Hate. I guess for the $ it's worth a shot.
Another good one
This is $150 aud in Australia dam the alcohol tax.
Ohh where we have come from.
remember those days?...... when this was 30 a bottle? LOL
I thought I was the only one getting the sour note

Yes we have to thank Scottish and Irish immigrants for Whiskey and a German who came to Kentucky and started a obscure tiny distillery called Jim Beam too.
Amazing value.
woah screw top? this has a cork now.
Rex: "yeah....right....uh-huh..." 😅 Can we flippin drink it yet?
Hi, Can you let me know what year was your bottle barreled ? I have a bottle from 2007 and does not have screw cap, but cork. Secon thought - I prefer Evan Williams Single Barrel over McKenna 10 BIB.
under 30...man, now on "sale" for 35 in idaho :-(
0:55 Right there with ya!
McKenna 10 is a top 5 bourbon
"Hi, my name is Rex, I'm an ass and I could care less what goes in my mouth.... 😜"
Would you pay $60 for this?
Yea, I paid 90 in Cali.
The majority of scotch is aged in ex-bourbon casks...you're welcome Scotch drinkers. We (bourbon) don't need you (Scotch) but you certainly need us.
Jason Voorheese - I guess you’re in the minority then. June 2020 : I paid 59.99 in Michigan for this bottle.
I just paid 52 in Lansing
Why are these silly asses working so hard at being gabby, silly, & cute...30 Seconds worth of info in the amazing time of 9:47
Drinking it while watching
I get roasted nuts and honey
With a touch of cedar on the end
she's 60 bux now.
$50 a bottle now as of 1/22/2021
$39.99
Two years ago I was getting this for $29.99. Now it is $39.99 :-(
I finally found a bottle of this near me and it was 49.99.
I saw a bottle today for $69.99
Now I haven't even SEEN it in CT in 2 years...
Bottled in bond whiskey MUST be at least 4 years old. Straight whiskey can be under 4 years old, but if so, it must be labeled with an age statement.
When you live in europe and you cant possibly get youre hands on henry mckenna, sirieusly its impossible
And is not all the Scottish peat barraged daily by sheep dung?
With this video, you guys might be responsible for it winning in 2019 and then shortly after disappearing from shelves.
They start smelling the whiskey at about 6mins.
Best in Show at San Francisco World Spirits
This channel would be better if Rex didn’t interrupt Daniel every time he gives useful interesting information, this happens every video
