    Lyrics
I spoke a vow today and asked if god would come and play
I’ve dug a shallow hole for him to sleep
But I swear he just won’t answer me
I call on out is he afraid, I’ll bury him down with the ones he keeps
And if the devil’s listening, I’ll come for him as well
If I suspect he had a hand to play
And if I see his face in town, there’s room for two down underground
Nothing’s gonna stop me ‘til I’m done
    Until I’m done
    Because tonight I’m killing gods
It’s guilt and frustration, it’s everything between
The silence and the absence hitting home
Peripheral glances and the chasing of a sound
I never knew I’d miss until it’s gone
So ask me how I’m coping
And I’ll smile and tell you “I’m just fine”
While down inside I’m drowning in the fucking rain
    Because when everything is empty
And your heart is set to cave
Sometimes all you wish for is a place
Is a place to place the blame
    Burn your heaven
    Flood your hell
Drown you in your wishing wells
    Burn your heaven
    Flood your hell
    Damn you all
    Because tonight I’m killing gods
The incendiary shock wave, scorched earth policy
The devastation that only loss will leave
The chants and incantations of daily rituals
A subtle lapse in brutal honesty
So ask me how I’m coping
And I’ll smile and tell you “I’m just fine”
While down inside I’m screaming ‘tiI I fucking bleed
    Because when everyone’s expendable
And your heart can’t take the wait
The last thing that you wish for is the face
Is the face to face the pain
    Burn your heaven
    Flood your hell
Drown you in your wishing wells
    Burn your heaven
    Flood your hell
    Damn you all
    Because tonight I’m killing gods
I spoke a vow today and asked if god would come and play
Because I just want to cut that fucker down
    Face me
    None survive
The devil and god have died inside me

Some people have therapists..some people have hobbies..some people have loved ones who understand to go to when things are at a boiling point...for the rest of us..the metal shares our pain and gives it a way out.

I always have friends ask me "oh but doesnt it make you angrier literally getting screamed at" and I usually say - well no, I internally am screaming along and the music acts as a catalyst for anger to leave me

Konstantin Stepanov I agree 100%. Metal music helps release all that pent up emotion inside and allows a person some relief. Ask many people which music makes them more angry...metal music or elevator music and I’ll bet elevator music is the top answer lol.

This song is raw emotion. That is what I love. It is a truly emotional representation of the anger phase of agonizing grief (in this case I assume over the loss of loved ones).

    • @escape_velocity1

The whole album was written with the death of Tom Searle of Architects at heart.

@@escape_velocity1 For some reason, it carries an atmosphere about it that transcends merely being another screamo song. It is more like to the music in an emotional play or musical, for a scene in which the protagonist is showing raw grief and emotion over that loss. It is a truly well done song, and this is coming from a guy who loves the more non mainstream bands like Primus, Tool, Porcupine Tree, and Opeth, to name a few.

This song reached out to me and told me that it's ok for me to be angry, to hurt, to be mad at a God I was questioning the existence of, to want to just feel pain and fear and anger. I'm very certain this song not only helped me stay alive but to also pull myself out of a 2 year long drug relapse after being clean for several years.
A selfish ass drinking and driving drunk bitch stole my Captain from me a few years ago. He was my best fuckin friend. He was my ride or die partner in crime turned clean but still ride or dies friend.
I've been angry at the Gods, demons, Angels, even the Tooth fairy a few times since he's been gone. Angry and scared. This song showed me that it's ok
