5:15 I have a question... ... Could we flip this around, where the BIG door shown at this time, could be over our Travel Trailer door? I want to be able to walk in and out of my LoBoy Vintage Travel Trailer. I see you don't need a doorway, since you put the solid wall against your truck... I almost ended this video because I need a door to go in and out of my travel trailer or my truck, until you showed the BIG DOOR... that makes a difference. Thank you for the help.
G'day. After watching 3 other video reviews on the ARB extended room, I decided to buy it in readiness for our trip around Australia. I was a little disappointed in the reviews as they made it look very easy and very quick to erect. My wife and I did manage to put it up ok for a test run and realised either we were thick as two short planks or, the reviewers made it look easier to erect than what it actually was. Then I came across your review, just out of interest. It was honest and real and to see you struggling a little made us feel a little better. An excellent review and I have to say, I do love the room. I'm now subscribed so thank you so much.
Thanks so much. Yeah it can be a real pain in the bottom to put up for sure. Totally worth the effort to keep cool and be bug free though. Appreciate you watching and subscribing
Thank you SO SO much fir this video. There is NO WAY I could have installed it without it. Your video is the only one out there and it was awesome! So informative. You would think ARB would have provided an instructional video but they didn’t. You rock!!! See you on the trail!
Mate, I think that's the best awning room that I've seen. I really like the idea that it offers so much air flow AND is good for bad weather too. That's for the video and making me aware of this product.
You’re really a great instructor Chris. You make me realize how much I appreciate the overland community vibe. Thanks again. Just subscribed to your channel.
Ok, your truck camper just officially entered #beastmode. You have the ultimate truck camping set up now. When we go truck camping again, between us we will have enough awning and netted rooms to host the entire Swedish Bikini Volleyball Team. Can't wait to see the places you use the awning room on your trip out west.
Trying to. Took up trail running but man its been too hot lately to even move. Wait till next week, I have another thing coming for the truck lol (#addicted)
Nice man, and great job describing the install process! It's a bit funny watching others struggle with the second half of sliding the tent onto the first track. Hard to grip isnt it! lol Also, the large panel with the grommets that you said can be used as a shade or awning (great idea), if say you pointed that part to the wind, with some guy lines tied to the grommets you create an angle allowing the wind to flow over the room. Another helpful tip is the awning and room guy lines can remain tied and rolled up with either. Just toss the lines on the awning and roll it up, the little 2 eye metal pieces wont harm it. I look forward to seeing how it holds up in heavy rain or wind. If you get a chance to make a vid of your experience in bad weather i'd love to see it because here in Arizona it's been blue skys every time ive taken it out. I do know a pole of some kind to prevent the collection of water in the middle is necessary (or lowering a corner), so make sure to account for that.
So here's what I don't get. Why did they not make the side that goes towards the vehicle a zip on track insert as well? Seems to me that would solve the problem of having to grip that thing and slide it. Maybe they will in a future update of it but that just seemed to work very well on the outer track. I also ordered sandbags for those places where the stakes might be difficult to use. You can get them pretty cheaply on Amazon. I can't wait to use this thing on a friggin mountain by a lake lol Thanks for watching
Good point, only thing i can think of is maybe trying to zipper *all* the weight would be even more challenging. You have the clips helping you on the other side. Sandbags sound interesting, maybe next time i'll look for some smooth rocks. None of the included stakes for either will work in rocky terrain, which seems to be everywhere worth going here, during the summer at least. Looking forward to a vid of it all in action!
Totally awesome Chris. You know I have a truck and I like to camp too. When you get back from your wild west adventure we need to hook up and do some truck camping.
Yep definitely, I have a FB group that I got invited to I will send you. There are overlanding trails near Hazard KY that have campsites on overlooks. Also, hope to do a super secret backpack trip to Deam soon if you are interested. Select individuals
Mate, I must have viewed your review a dozen times to help me decide on my awning. It is easily the best review getting about and has me super interested in an ARB awning, with add-on room. Thanks for doing it. My only criticism, and it appears that all manufacturers fail to do this, is that the track where the awning attaches near the vehicle is prone to tearing the material as you insert it into the track and pull it along. Surely there must be a process where that sharp front edge can be rounded off to help protect things.
Yeah, I agree with you on that one. That particular edge is the only basic design flaw I see in it. It would be nice if both corners were rounded off to prevent that
You and Steve take camping to a whole new lvl , it's not even camping any more it's just going on vacation now lol jk. That's a super nice set up buddy and if you do take the Swedes I'm in lolol
haha I still will be backpacking and roughing it but sometimes you just want to relax and not work for the spot. We will let you know about the Swedes lol
The Swedish bikini team has not let me know yet but I did get confirmation from The Waffle House Waitress Oil Wrestling Team that they would like to go on our next trip with us.
Awesome episode!! I need a favor though; can you measure the top of your ARB Awning to the ground?? I’m trying to see if I limited my truck 3 inches, would the ARB Room be on or off the ground?? I have a Tundra SR-5, but I want to lift it.unless the ARB room is up off the ground.
They are permanently fixed on different sides. I chose the driver side for the arb because I get in and out of that side more often. Then the Roadshower in the other side
Ya go to the pawn shop and find a floor AC. Stick the big exhaust tube out the tent and camp at the sites with 120v. Orrrrrrr take a predator genset with
Love that awning setup. Great add for people camping in cars, trucks or vans. Good space.
Thanks so much. I really enjoy having the sun and rain protection and in the summer no bugs camping
Excellent video...
Thank you for sharing ... My husband will love this.
You said you're going out West.... What state?
I was going to Colorado and Utah.

The big wall against my truck also zips down so it is possible I think

That’s awesome! I’m so glad it helped you and yeah what’s up with no one else doing a video on it? LOL. Appreciate you watching

You’re very welcome. This year has been awful with mosquitoes so it’s lovely watching their frustration at not being able to get me LOL
You’re really a great instructor Chris. You make me realize how much I appreciate the overland community vibe. Thanks again. Just subscribed to your channel.
Oh wow thanks so much. I am glad I earned your sub. Best kind to receive really
Excellent. With one of those Awnings i can jus move out of the house and live outdoors. easy and fast.
Haha there ya go
That is sweet. Perfect set up for truck camping. Can’t wait to see the video when you go out west.
Man I am counting down the days. I needs me some mountains right Meow

lol by my bad math we will have a total of 128 square feet to host the ladies. SO much room for activities lol
Cool setup!
Thanks! Used it this past weekend and was very comfortable sleeping in
Wow! That set-up is rad!! You are dialed in. Love it.
You haven't seen anything yet. It will be even more epic soon.
That is a really nice addiiton to the awning. Cool SV Delos Tee shirt by the way!
Love that channel!! Got a hat too but it is huge so I don't wear it. They are great storytellers
Wow, hella addition to the awning, set up cot really easy in there
So much room for activities.
Amazing setup👍 I’m sold on it now
Awesome! It’s a great thing to have especially to get away from the bugs
You slimming down? Looking good! And your truck camping setup is now elite.

I just filed the entry to the track a bit. Smoothed it out quite well.
So, is this fully incapsulated top, bottom, sides? Been looking at options, time to pull the trigger. Great, simple, vid. Thanks.
Yes this has all walls and floor and the walls can be zipped up to reveal the screens. Screens can also be zipped up
Excellent set up. love it.
Thank you, not done with it but it is coming along
YUP IM BUYING ONE! thanks!
You will love it! Thanks for watching

You are a life saver. Thank you
You are very welcome
thanks for the review. great t shirt also.
LOL thanks Delos rules!!!
After years of using this
What do you recommend in case of strong winds or rain storms what should I do to avoid damage to the room and the Awning
The main thing is do is make sure it’s staked down well. For rain lower one corner a little bit for rain run off the r

9 feet 4 inches
super nice 👌
Thanks! I love it.
Good review, thanks

Thank you !
that must be a pain to setup in windy condition when threading the walls into the track. that being said looks really good once all setup
I haven't tried setting it up in the wind yet Jim but I think you are correct it would be a pain
Does the inside roof have a hook or something to hang a light?
There are hooks around the top at various places. Plastic hooks
Do you keep your arb on one side and road shower on the other or do you have to choose between them?
They are permanently fixed on different sides. I chose the driver side for the arb because I get in and out of that side more often. Then the Roadshower in the other side
Great video, how tall is the arb room
It is well over six feet tall based on the fact that it zips onto the awning. I am 6'2" and it was at least a foot and a half over my head
@@thathikingguy thanks. I'm 6'3 so I'm guessing it will work for me
can you show me how to truck camp in this heat
Trying to figure that out myself. Still building this week and hope to get back out very soon
Ya go to the pawn shop and find a floor AC. Stick the big exhaust tube out the tent and camp at the sites with 120v. Orrrrrrr take a predator genset with
Coolness. Goodbye pesky bugs
Exactly and Goodbye sunburns lol. Might have to pick up a 50 SPF shirt as well
I love mine, but sweet jesus it's a pain in the ass feeding that track in all by yourself
So true. If you get in a rush you can rip it too
Can you fit a car in there ??
No it’s 8ft by 8ft.
The problem i see is the 2 sides are bot zipped up. Bugs can enter.
Possibly sure but if you are inside it, wouldn't you go ahead and zip it all up?
2-person job
Probably but with enough practice I’ve successfully done it alone many times. Just takes a little longer
