    Love my ARB awning and room. Just a FYI if you clip the room to the side poles before you do the zipper it is much easier as it takes all the weight off of the room.

    Good video on the ARB awning and Screen Room. I just bought one for myself but using a different awning, a few new holes for the awning arms and legs so it will fit. I'm hoping to get a lot of use out of it. I figure I can use it on both my Jeep and Scamp T.T.

    Great video and confirms my desire to get this setup. One question: What is the distance measurement from the "channel" on the awning case to the bottom (floor) of the awning room. I have a van with a bubble top on it and am concerned as to where on that bubble top the awning will need to be placed. Always nervous about putting holes in the rig and want to be sure when I attach the awning that the awning room will hit the ground at the right spot and not either be off the ground a few inches or crumple over with a few inches of fold at the floor.. Thanks in advance for any feed back. Stay safe.

    We just set up our awning with the room for the first time. Went up with no issues, but taking it down we ran into a snag, literally. When we try to slide the 'rods' out of the channel it gets stuck before we can get it past the plastic end cap. I tried widdling away a bit of the inside where it was catching but I really don't want to do that. Did y'all have any issues with the rod catching on the plastic end cap. It was the same on both ends and on the zipper side too.

      We've not been carried off by mosquitoes yet! 😆 Honestly we've not been bothered by sand gnats or mosquitoes once inside the room. Do a few get in? Yes, and I think it's from the kids going in/out more than than the zipper gap. But it's not been bad enough for us to need the ThermaCELL inside the screen room so I'd call that a win. • @TheWayfinder
      @TheWayfinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We actually purchased about 5 Mexican blankets that we use for various things: tablecloth, mattress covers, and we use them on the floor especially on cold nights. They cut down on the noise from the floor and help insulate the screen room a bit. They do get dirty when used as a floor cover but just throw them in the wash and they are ready to go for next time. • @TheWayfinder
      @TheWayfinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The spot where the zippers meet will have a small gap but other than that the screen room can be completely sealed off. We typically camp in swampy Florida and haven't had any problems with bugs so far! We try our best to open/close as quickly and rarely as possible to keep the bugs out. Thanks for watching!

    • @TheWayfinder
      @TheWayfinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Florida afternoon thunderstorms are no joke, they come out of no where and can bring heavy rain. With that being said, we haven't had any water get inside the room during those storms. We always make sure we have the awning itself pulled taut and slanted so the water can run off. Thanks for watching!

    • @TheWayfinder
      @TheWayfinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Phil! We do not keep it plugged into shore power when it's not in use, even during the winter. We actually have a battery disconnect switch and disconnect while home so that the battery doesn't run down with any auxiliary equipment that runs. Thanks for watching! - Lindsey

    • @TheWayfinder

      The floor is also noisy! We actually got some cheap "Mexican blankets" that we put down on the floor. It helps with the noise, adds another layer of insulation, and smooths out the floor. Not a perfect solution but we like it, we end up just shaking out the blankets and washing when needed.

    How do you keep the screen room close to the trailer body? We bought one, and love it, but it is still loose near the trailer side

    • @TheWayfinder
      @TheWayfinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, good question! We've thought about making modifications using industrial Velcro or something similar to keep the room flush with the trailer. We'd love for it to be completely sealed so we could leave the trailer door open but couldn't figure out a decent way to accomplish that. Plus #floridamosquitos 🙄 would never allow us to get by with that plan 😆. So we decided to just stake it as close as possible, deal with the gap and continue to zip/unzip every time we open the trailer door. Let us know if you think of a good solution! I have this setup and I'm very disappointed with how weak the telescoping arms are. Obviously it's a major problem as everyone has undelivered PO's and one major online dealer has HUNDREDS of backorders on the telescoping arms. ARB does not support their warranty and the horizontal arms are NOT strong enough to support the room. I had it setup on a calm, no wind, no rain day. It was just me. It was setup and installed correctly, and one of the arms still bent. They are a $13 part which speaks volumes. They need to upgrade these poles to make them much stronger. I regret my purchase and hope ARB upgrades the design and decides to stand by their warranty.

    Oh, how does this do in high wind??

    • @TheWayfinder
      @TheWayfinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The location in this video was the windiest place we've used it. It's crazy what can come whipping across those fields! As with any awning it is best to take down during high wind situations and whether wind or not it's important to stake both the awning and screen room. Because the screen room and awning have their own stakes/loops we feel confident when it is up that everything will hold into place for normal wind situations.
