Another Elite runs up, panicking, “Your majesty they’ve broke through the castle gates!” Princess Shroob spits out the tea, “Wait what?! The gate can be only broken by 5 shards!” The Elite Shroob shrank, “They didn’t use the shards, they just kinda... clipped in.”

I was like "nah, there's literally NO WAY he can enter the castle without all the shards". Regretted that sentence half second later

It is incredibly cathartic to see younger Princess Shroob, a boss which I once spent over two hours fighting against in a single sitting but still couldn't beat, get killed in two minutes by a single red shell. Thank you.
Nikx Neon i did a 3 day long run and completed the game in 11~13 hours... the game isnt difficult at all, the infinite bro attacks are OP
Nikx Neon i also got stuck in the last boss thnks to the idiot devs, the helper says "you cant go back past this point" and theres a fucking save point a little further !!! absurd...
this was in my first playthrough when i was 6-8 years old... the 3 day was done a couple of weeks ago lol

It would have been good had baby bowser had a more unique sprite. It just looks so much like Bowser Junior that people automatically assume that it is.

I noticed that too!! I think the cycle must’ve be only just a few frames slower since they eventually run out of synch again, but it lasted for so long it felt so good!
Why does literally every video game have a mythical "Palace Skip"?
(Except for Super Mario Sunshine, where they tried ridiculously hard to skip a fruit cart.)
thats not really true. Although it is kinda funny the amount of Mario RPG's with huge skips. However, other games are just in general broken (ex: Paper Mario). In these games the large time saves are caused by multiple relatively smaller skips
Sunshine has its own skip: Gelato Beach Skip.
If only Corona Mountain Skip was possible. :/
Yeah, accessing Corona Mountain early would essentially be a whole _game_ skip. It'd be cool, but it's not like Gate Skip or Barrier Skip where the idea is "we just need to get past this wall!"
Corona Mountain's loading zone just straight up _does not exist_ without certain triggers, so entering Corona Mountain early isn't a question of movement tricks, but much deeper code-and-game-breaking tricks.

Y'know, now that5 I think about it, it would've been cool to be able to explore the present versions of each location instead of Peach's Castle being your only overworld.
Maybe E.Gadd gives you a time machine and you have to make changes to the past to affect the future. Similar to the scene where you meet Past E.Gadd and it inspires future E.Gadd
oh wow I've never though about partner in time's incredible potential for a postgame, hopefully if nintendo ever makes a remake they'll add that instead of another weird sidegame
One of my biggest complaints with the game. It feels like the past part is tacked on as the whole game could have just take place in the present and it would not have been different

I actually did this as a kid. Granted, I no lifed the shit out this game for HUNDREDS of hours when it first came out, especially when it came to red shells on ground bosses. I'd Copy Flower the shield and Red Shell both princesses in one turn for 2000+ damage (of course I did the EPS battle differently as it has much different mechanics).
1:40:19 - 1:43:33 I counted 569 successful hits and then the one failed hit to end the copy flower. Not sure if this is correct, but I counted based on 4's and there was an extra successful hit.

I usually would skim through those speedruns, but all the interesting comments made this so enjoyable to follow from start to end. Partners in Time is a game that I enjoyed (and honestly was quite terrified of, Shroobs are scary) a lot as a kid, seeing it been beaten in less than 2 hours is so impressive, great TAS!

What you have achieved cannot be put into words. You can be really proud of yourself.
1:07:16 back when I used to play this game, I ultimately quit because I fought this boss thousands of times, had a bunch of items, etc, but he would never die even after two hours of attacking and surviving, leading me to a slow death. I don’t know if my game was broken or what, but it this day I don’t think I ever beat him.

That was a really cool TAS, must have taken a long time to make. To bad the commentary faded away sometimes. Also I didnt understand all the glitches but its hard to explain without visual examples. Other than that this was a really solid video, Nice job!

Really fun to watch, and great commentary too! One problem I have tough, is that game audio and your speech aren't too far apart in terms of volume. There were a few points where I'd have to rewind a couple times to understand what you were saying, but other than that, great video!

Man, I love when the authors of a TAS commentate over the top of the game. Personally, I'm not a fan of this game, but just because of the effort you've put in and the explanations you've put together for this video I'm gonna sit and watch it all and see what it's about! TAS takes just as much skill as an RTA run!
This game was so doppeee and I love it; unforunately i couldn't complete it, but it's so cool seeing it get completed in such stylish fashion!!

I never actually beat this game as a kid, so I’m just now seeing the clever nod to Superstar Saga in the Elder Princess II Fight, where the Shroob Saucers she shoots down set on fire to signal they’ll crash down on the Marios, and have an electrical shortage to signal they’ll crash down on the Luigis
When Baby Luigi is trying to get older Luigi to sack up and go explore the crashed saucer, Luigi's just remembering the trauma of riding those red shells at mach 5 for minutes at a time "No little man, trust me, you dun wanna see what comes next. Trusta me. It'sa me, Weegee."
