Well canonically didn't he somehow get in the door before you anyway? I've never understood that part of the narrative. I chalk it up to some Shadow Siren magic.
Maybe he always could get into the palace of shadow, but needed every crystal star to resurrect the demon and rule thw world.

Yeah holy shit, the overlay being handmade just adds on to how Malleo is so amazing in his passion for this TAS. In turn this big group of us get more passionate, and we're all a happy bunch all thanks to Malleo's passion.

Trivia on the Bowser SMB intermissions, did you know theres a ton of different quips if you keep failing the levels? He says different things until about the 30th time when he just says "Gotta do it!"
I remember dying on purpose when I was young just to read all his lines.
The premiere was _mind-blowing._
Goodness, the next 15-minute barrier is right in sight; nearly 15 minutes cut from the previous TAS!

My interpretation of this run is that this is an alternate universe where Professor Frankly is actually a time lord manipulating Mario and all the other NPCs into playing out the events of The Thousand Year Door as quickly as possible so he can get back to doing whatever nothing it is that he normally does lol
When you read certain junk emails in order to gain velocity on the y axis to gain a museum artifact that some thieves didn’t steal.
Your TTYD TASes inspired me to make my own TAS of Mario Party Advance a few years back. Considering how long the TAS was back then (it was like a month before Palace Skip was found), it feels weirdly awesome to see TTYD about the same length as MPA now. That connection between those games probably only matters to me, but it made watching this feel special in a way. Thanks for making these, Malleo, and thank you to all the community members who helped.

1:38:21 It’s a really small detail but I love that Flavio, Four-Eyes and the rest are still loaded into Keelhaul Key since you never actually traveled there and so they never left, and their lighting is so off. Really excellent work on this TAS, keep it up

I don’t know how much trouble it would be, but I’d love to see a controller input display for the next TAS, especially for the precise inputs for 24:42
In my uneducated opinion, it’d probably be fairly easy
Since the dolphin tas file (.dtm?) is read by dolphin to input inputs, I don’t see why it would be difficult for another program to instead read the the dtm and output animations or whatever

I remember during my first play through of TTYD as a kid I used show stopper on the last bowser fight and killed Bowser with it lol Never knew the odds were that low!
Most of the Chapter 8 bosses can be Showstopper-ed!
I like how I’ve watched the video for long enough that I’ve commented already and I’m not even a quarter of the way through.

You, and the ttyd community of course, have achieved so much progress on this tas and this game overall over the years. It's been awesome to watch it build to sub 2hrs and see the amount of work that's gone into the run. Thank you for posting your videos, I definitely enjoyed watching.
Minor error; Mario's hp was not updated in the Hooktail fight after the dialog. Otherwise, this is as perfect as it could be, well done, 10/10 for effort, speed, and explanation. It was wonderful to watch all the tricks that led to the creation of this AMAZING TAS. (and the making of the TAS itself)
The FP was also not updated for the Power Bounce

I think thats the in game timer which makes sense that it stands out as it is a non gamey, fourth wall breaking measurement

So, watching this speedrun and knowing abt people's stellar opinion of the game, I began to wonder why I didn't like it that much, despite how interesting it seems. Then I realized, my first experience with this game was a Game Grumps playthrough. Those guys can make you dislike anything, even if they like it themselves.
Except sonic boom for some reason, that makes me want to play it

No need to brag, Malleo. After three months and several brute force segments, there's no way I'd have it that low.
Amazing work! It never gets old to hear you explain tricks from as simple and repeated as speed-swapping to the more in-depth ones like Gloomtail Warp and Blimp Ticket Skip. Although, I am slightly disappointed my favourite dumb glitch at with double Jolene at 1:08:18 didn't get a comment this time. I will be looking forward to the next great time save and the next amazing TAS we will get to see you do!
Imagine breaking the very fabric of time and space by traveling into the future and then not as far into the past just to save someone faster than you would have normally.

The subtitles are an extremely helpful touch to help follow along! Sometimes I zone out when watching longer videos, and it’s really helpful to be able to read along in addition to listening

Grats on the sub-2-hours! Watching the premiere live was amazing, but just wanted to shout out the super-dope perfect damage strat for Shadow Queen's final phase and the new Palace Skip, which was amazing LOL
I've always loved Koops' lines in the Ms. Mowz cutscenes. "Oh, my! You're so... bold... Is that legal?"
This is an excellent TAS, and I can’t believe we finally made sub 2 hours. This was something we couldn’t even dream of years ago. kudos to you and everyone else in the community to cracking this game open bare, and getting the stars to align to make this happen.
I also loved how you still took the time to mess around in the game here and there, at least where it didn’t loose time. The humor of moonwalking goomther and trapping koops in the Locker isn’t lost on me.
God, I really needed this. After so many months of hellish news, this lighthearted TAS is the perfect escape. Thank you for your effort in this TAS, and for managing to make me smile despite everything :)

I love Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, but I never knew how fast people could complete this game with TAS! I joined in some of the streams, but was never able to stay fully, but I was so ready for this! Thank you Malleo, and all of the community for finding all these tricks and glitches! Let's hope in the future, we can find a way to get 1:45 time!

Remember this game was run at SGDQ once and it was 6 and a half hours long, this is insane.

There’s a Google Chrome plugin called Video Speed Controller. If you watch the video at 12x speed, you could have theoretically finished the video before it was 10 minutes old.
I mean, you wouldn’t understand anything, but it’s possible.

@@Hadaron nah, plugins are banned from the src board. you can use microsoft edge to speed it to 8x, but you'll probably get a lot of lag.
