    I have watched so many waypoint videos and I had no idea you could do all of the cool things you showed. Everyone else just covers the basics. This is awesome thanks so much.

      Agreed.
      Good to see your video as it's much better than others brief overview. Good to see YYC. Might have to upgrade from my M3P bought exactly a year ago here in Thailand which has now travelled from CNX to Georgia, Armenia and Phuket and done remarkably well. Last month I filmed in fireworks and lanterns for the Loy Krathong festival.

      That's awesome, getting to film in all those locations! And the M3P is a great drone, I really liked mine. The M4P however, is a worth while upgrade in my opinion, I like the additional features and for me there was a noticeable difference in the range between the 2.

      So one question when you set it to continue the mission after it loses signal and you have your global safety setting to return home when signal is lost does it auto return home when the mission is done if it still doesn’t have signal?

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good question, I haven't had that happen. It would makes sense to default to the global setting in that situation.

    This video was extremely well made and you explained it in such simple terms. The intro video was an awesome edit. I just got my Mini 4 and I didn’t realize you could plan waypoint flights sitting at home in the recliner. From your video now I really want to plan these flights myself. Thanks for your effort on this one. I’m subbing, I want to see what else you will do.

    Nice video. A few notes, you can manually add waypoints and POIs by taping on the map where you would like to place them. You dont have to fly to the actual waypoints to add them. In fact, you can create an entire waypoint mission without having the drone in the air. This can save a lot of time and battery. Just be extra careful that you set the correct altitude for the waypoints and there are no obstructions on your flight path. Then its easy to make any quick adjustments when you fly the mission.

    • @CreateandKaptivate

    Great video the vertigo shot was amazing but I did not understand how you put the 2 waypoints together to make one video. It would be great to see how you put them both together or could you explain a little more on that please. Thank you I have subscribed.

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      You actually only need to use 1 waypoint mission with 2 waypoints to create the shot. The 1st waypoint you are close to your subject at 1x zoom, and take note of where you subject is in the frame. In my case roughly where the top and bottom of the building are. Then zoom in to 3x and back up until the subject is framed the same as in the 1st waypoint, then set your 2nd waypoint here keep the zoom at 3x. So as the drone flies backwards it will simultaneously zoom in creating the vertigo effect. You may need to play around with you start and end points a bit to get the exact shot you're looking for. Hopefully that helps. 🙂

    Great tutorial . I will try at a bridge near my town. I have a question: the altitude of the POI. Is it the altitude the drone will take when passing the PIO or the height of the bridge (PIO).

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The altitude you set for the POI is for the camera or gimbal, that's the point it will try to keep in the center of the frame, the height of the drone will be determined by the altitude of the actual waypoints. For instance if one waypoint is at 30m and the next is at 50m the drone will start at 30m and gradually increase in altitude to reach 50m by the second waypoint.

    Hey there, great guide! Quick question - are points of interest only for fixed locations?
    I was hoping to do a waypoint route, and track a jogger for a video. Since they're moving, I assume it doesn't work? I checked my drone and it doesn't seem like active track is available during waypoints either.

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, as far as I know the POI can only be a fixed location. And like you mentioned, I don't know of a way to use active track with waypoints. That's interesting though, I wonder if there's a way to do what you're trying to do 🤔

    Firstly, very clearly explained.
    I have a question. I have the same controller but with the Mavic 3 Pro.
    I tried to create waypoints as per your description from 6:15 onwards. ie.. while disconnected from the aircraft.
    However, I followed your tutorial, tap on the waypoint icon etc etc, but despite me then tapping on a particular part of the map, there is no waypoint icon appearing.
    I then tried pressing C1 (as you’d do if the aircraft was connected) , but the resultant message was ‘Aircraft Not Connected’.
    Any ideas on a possible solution? (Note : I create waypoint missions all the time but only while the aircraft is connected and airborne, that works perfectly fine, it was the ability to create waypoints while ‘not connected’ that caught my interest.
    Thank you from Ireland.

      That's a good question, I figured it was a function of the DJI Fly app, and therefore would work on any RC2 controller. It has to be that or the firmware in the controller that has the functionality since I didn't have the drone powered on while setting up the waypoint mission. I just don't know if this is something specific to the mini 4, if you have the latest DJI Fly app and firmware I don't really know what else it could be. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One other thing, if you have the Mavic 3 Pro is that the RC or the RC2 controller? That could be the reason certain functionality isn't available...yet?

    • @cedarkey
      @cedarkey 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I believe you may be correct.
      Because I have the Mavic 3 Pro, I do indeed have the RC controller, and not the RC 2 version.
      I wasn’t aware that they now was the option of RC … RC2 and RC PRO controllers.
      So many options 😂
      That could very well be the reason.
      I’ll try again, and if any success will update here.
      Thank you again.
      Much appreciated 👍🏻

      I noticed it seems you were using more of a computer, keyboard and mouse to create these waypoints etc as opposed to the screen, I'm older and old school so I never physically saw your hand anywhere in this video camera on the remote while you was creating these waypoints, so could you kindly explain how you were getting true height, gimbal settings on the bldg etc all prior to flying the way points first? I followed you on how to set them while not being connected to my mini 4 pro all while sitting on my couch but I can't figure how you're creating all this without physically using my actual controller that came with my mini 4 pro because even in satelite view it only gives me Google earth view not actual low image of the side of a bldg like you were able to do, so is there some type of software you're using to create these waypoints and then uploading it? Sorry for all the questions but at my age technology has surpassed me. Thank you in advance!

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To answer your first question, I was using a screen recording on the actual controller (the RC2) to show the setup, but since it was just a screen recording that's why you don't see my hands. You may see a sort of white dot appear on the screen when I tap on it to select different settings. And I was not able to get the actual building height while setting it up, I had flown around that building before and knew roughly what heights I wanted to set for my waypoints and gimbal POI. Something to keep in mind, is the height you set for the waypoints and POI when not connected to the drone or flying, will be the height relative to your takeoff point when it flies the mission, not necessarily the actual height at the location. I hope that helps answer your questions.

  • @np3jd37

    Quick question: is adjusting the altitude what allows the camera to automatically tilt up and down during the waypoint mission?? I’m curious how the drone knows how far to tilt the camera up/down…is that only controlled by altitude, or can it be modified? Thanks so much for this video!

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes that's correct when using a point of interest. Where the POI is set, is the location on the horizontal plane, and the altitude sets the location on the vertical axis and it's that point that the camera will keep in the center of the frame. If you're not using a POI then the gimbal tilt, and rotation of the drone can be manually set at each waypoint.

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The new Parks and Pathway Bylaw states that you can fly a drone under 250grams without a permit in permitted areas as long as you comply will all provincial and federal legislation. Be courteous when flying a drone. The Parks and Pathway Bylaw prohibits any behaviour which “unreasonably disturbs the use or enjoyment of the park by any other user of the park”. And they list specific areas you can't fly and I don't fly there. I also use several maps to ensure there are no restrictions where I'm flying.

    Great video, but one detail no one covers is this...once you have pre programmed a flight......now you take your drone to the site.....do you put the drone on the ground and start from there?....or do you take off and hit go?....also...if, for instance, you have 10 way points and want to record the whole flight...in video...is it possible to take a picture while recording at one way point along the course?

    • @CreateandKaptivate

      When I used a pre-programmed flight, I would just take off and fly close to where the start point was and then load the waypoint mission and hit start. And regarding the photos, if you go into the settings for any individual waypoint, at the bottom there's an option Take Photo, if you select that, it will take a photo at that particular waypoint.
