I have watched so many waypoint videos and I had no idea you could do all of the cool things you showed. Everyone else just covers the basics. This is awesome thanks so much.
Agreed. Good to see your video as it's much better than others brief overview. Good to see YYC. Might have to upgrade from my M3P bought exactly a year ago here in Thailand which has now travelled from CNX to Georgia, Armenia and Phuket and done remarkably well. Last month I filmed in fireworks and lanterns for the Loy Krathong festival.
That's awesome, getting to film in all those locations! And the M3P is a great drone, I really liked mine. The M4P however, is a worth while upgrade in my opinion, I like the additional features and for me there was a noticeable difference in the range between the 2.
So one question when you set it to continue the mission after it loses signal and you have your global safety setting to return home when signal is lost does it auto return home when the mission is done if it still doesn’t have signal?
I was not just helpful but believe me this video was a very clear description of the WAYPOINT feature. I just bought Mini 4 Pro today in Pakistan and starting watching your tutorials... BEST BEST BEST video
That's great to hear! I'm glad you found the video helpful, and hopefully it helps you get started with your new Mini 4 Pro. Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it.👍
Wow! You’re a master of waypoints! This is the best video, packed with so much knowledge. Honestly, I’ll need to watch it a few more times-maybe then my brain will finally get it, especially the dolly effect! Unfortunately, there is no option to CONTINUE flight on signal lost. They have cancelled that :( Now there are 3 possibilities: RTH, hoover or landing.
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Interesting that you mention the Continue option because someone else just commented and asked why they did not have it. I know it wasn't available in the EU, but if it was just completely removed, I wasn't aware of that.
Excellent tutorial - many thanks! That last shot - aka the 'Vertigo' effect from the Hitchcock film of the same name - is so effective and yet so easy to achieve with the M4P. ❤
@@CreateandKaptivate it's also called a dolly zoom, or push-pull. Not sure if Hitchcock "invented" it but it was in Vertigo. Also Jaws.. This Waypoint information is just what I needed, thanks Mark for this great content. I'm filming a building site of 6 properties being built over 18months and I'm planning to fly the drone on the same path over that time period so the final video will be the houses being built in one shot with a couple of orbits around the site. .

Thank you so much. It is the best video I watched so far about waypoints. Gonna try soon! ❤
Hi Mark, I am Harry from the Netherlands, not the youngest anymore when retired, and recently I have the mini3 pro. So hardly any experience with drone hobby but I plan to make it a nice hobby. I will watch all your videos and save them, I am very happy with the way you explain it. My English is far from perfect but with the help of "Google Translate" I come a long way. I hope you will make many more videos. greetings, Harry
Hi Harry, that's great to hear! I hope you are enjoying your mini 3 pro. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it😊 Also, I do plan to make more videos, just been a busy summer.
New to your channel, just wanted to take a minute to say Thank You! I've been watching several videos from people, and they did not explain things very well, your video was a major help, I really like the way you explain things in full. And the part about how to set up your way point before you go flying if you're familiar with the area. Game changer, I had no idea this could be done. Again, Thank You. I subscribed to your channel.
great video thank you! I have the mini 4 pro and avata 2, both excellent drones for different purposes! I tell people who ask why 2 drones, 'the avata 2 is like a fighter plane and the mini 4 pro is like a nice sunday drive' :). The tracking/waypoint features are amazing!!
Hello, friend. Applause. Your videos are the best. I haven't seen anything like this on youtube. Thank you for your work. You're very helpful. Your videos helped me a lot to figure out and learn more about DJI mini 4 pro. Thank you. Applause. Come to Sicily, we'll fly here.
Wow that's great! I'm really glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it, and I'm sure Sicily would be a beautiful place to fly.
Great tutorial. Easy to understand but shows you advanced things you can do. Can’t wait to try some of them out. I subscribed to your channel after watching this video.
Thank you so much for the video. It is very helpful for me to learn. I did exactly the steps you outlined and was able to repeat all the results with only three attempts - I start at the site first, followed up with a home set up, and then go to the site again. Struggled on the file saving process during the home set up. I finally figured out the difference between "save" and "save as". I simply use "save as" to create a new file and then delete the old file to make sure I do not get confused with so many different versions of waypoint files. It appears that "save" does not update the file's time and date but save the modifications made to it?
That's great to hear! I'm glad you were able to use the video to re-create some of these shots. Also with the "save and "save as" I don't think I tested it as in depth as you you did, that's good to know. Thanks for the comment!
This video was extremely well made and you explained it in such simple terms. The intro video was an awesome edit. I just got my Mini 4 and I didn’t realize you could plan waypoint flights sitting at home in the recliner. From your video now I really want to plan these flights myself. Thanks for your effort on this one. I’m subbing, I want to see what else you will do.
This is an amazing tutorial! Like others, I didn't know you could combine POIs with the waypoints like this! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. One suggestion I would make though. Could you tame the hand waving? It's quite distracting.
Nice video. A few notes, you can manually add waypoints and POIs by taping on the map where you would like to place them. You dont have to fly to the actual waypoints to add them. In fact, you can create an entire waypoint mission without having the drone in the air. This can save a lot of time and battery. Just be extra careful that you set the correct altitude for the waypoints and there are no obstructions on your flight path. Then its easy to make any quick adjustments when you fly the mission.
Dear author thank you so much for this very useful content!, Would be very appreciated if you answer to me why I don't see feature "continue" in my menu "when signal lost" -, only "hover" , RTH and Land ? thank
You're the second person to ask me that, unfortunately I don't know the answer. I assume it's something in the firmware, but it actually mentions it right in the Mini 4 Pro Manual, in the Waypoint Flight section under Plan a Waypoint Flight it shows "On Signal Lost - The behavior of the aircraft when the remote controller signal is lost during flight. It can be set to RTH, Hover, Land or Continue."
This is awesome! Thanks a lot! Note for EU users: I could not find "Continue when signal loss", after some searching it seems it's not available in the EU
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and you made a good point. I didn't realize at first that the 'continue' option wasn't available in the EU until I got a few comments asking why they could find it.
This is a great video and I learnt a few things, but something I don't understand, in the bridge you set POI to 10m, however on the video example it looks a lot higher, and surely 10m, you would collide with the bridge anyway
He's setting the point of interest elevation for the gimbal to aim at throughout the flight, not its flight path. He will be flying at 70m when over the bridge, so he wants to aim down at 10m, or 60m below the drone. Drone will be 60m higher than the bridge.
If you're talking about using waypoints for hyperlapses. I find that feature is less refined than the waypoint flight mode, and you don't have as many settings to work with in the hyperlapse mode.
As someone who very rarely (if ever!) shoots drone video (photos only here) that was nonetheless really interesting to watch on what can be done using WP's! Very slick!
Great tutorial . I will try at a bridge near my town. I have a question: the altitude of the POI. Is it the altitude the drone will take when passing the PIO or the height of the bridge (PIO).
The altitude you set for the POI is for the camera or gimbal, that's the point it will try to keep in the center of the frame, the height of the drone will be determined by the altitude of the actual waypoints. For instance if one waypoint is at 30m and the next is at 50m the drone will start at 30m and gradually increase in altitude to reach 50m by the second waypoint.
When you set the point of interest, do you need to point the gimble at the subject because I’m struggling lol. Amazing video by the way, great content and skills 😃 Thank you. Sam 🇬🇧😊
You're welcome Sam! You should be able to set the POI by tapping on the screen. But it doesn't matter where the gimbal is pointed when setting the POI, you can go into the POI settings by tapping on it and there you can set the height you want the POI to be at and then tap on Link Waypoints to set the individual waypoints that you want to use the POI.
First of all thank you so much for the awesome video, but If I may I would suggest adding time stamps to your videos, that would be really nice. your videos are are very helpful and benefiting, but trying to remember all the steps is al little difficult without going back to the specific part of the video, I wish you could oblige us, but in any case your videos are appreciated anyway.
Hi thank you so much for your videos. Very helpful. I am a complete beginner just working out the combination of way points. In your video it mentioned continue if signal lost. I don’t seem to have this in my settings just land, RTH or hover. Is there another setting I need to change? Thanks again 👍
I have been asked that question a few times, and it turns out that option is not available in all countries. I'm in Canada and I've been told it's available in the US but not in Europe.
Awesome video! Just wondering, can I do this with the DJI Air 3S? I would assume it would be the same for any DJI drone with waypoint missions. Thanks and I subscribed, keep em coming!

@@CreateandKaptivate Appreciate it 👊🏻 All the best 😎🥳
First of all thank you so much for the awesome video, but If I may I would suggest adding time stamps to your videos, that would be really nice.
your videos are are very helpful and benefiting, but trying to remember all the steps is al little difficult without going back to the specific part of the video, I wish you could oblige us, but in any case your videos are appreciated anyway.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I appreciate the feedback, that's a good suggestion👍

Thanks... I jut bought the DJIM4Pro and this has been helpful.
I'm glad you found this helpful! Have fun with your new Mini 4 Pro😊
@@CreateandKaptivate thank you so much for your immediate response. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos. 👍
Thanks, it was very useful!

Much appreciated, thanks!
Awesome video! Just wondering, can I do this with the DJI Air 3S? I would assume it would be the same for any DJI drone with waypoint missions. Thanks and I subscribed, keep em coming!
Yes you certainly can do all of this with the air 3s., and it may even do it all better. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it👍
