    I sat in the house today and planned the wayleave mission before even stepping outside. I made two missions and then flew them from my house. They were fantastic. Then I tweaked them both and flew them again. And both were perfect. This is a really great way to plan and execute a shot if you know what you're looking for. The other thing I noticed was I didn't need as much flying time and therefore not as much battery. Because I was able to set up the waypoint in the house with my controller plugged into the power outlet so not wasting battery and without the drone needing to be turned on so not wasting battery there either. A great way to work. Loved it. I'm not sure how it will work is an area that isn't as flat like say a mountainous area, maybe that's my next challenge tomorrow.

    EXCELLENT. LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED. thanks. Very comprehensive. You really have to watch a video like this more than once because it's easy to forget some of the little things. Like being able to speed the drone up and slow the drone down between waypoints on the fly with the forward and backward controls. Nice little tip. Also the POI section was particularly interesting you're first person I've found so far that covers this. I didn't understand that the height on the POI section was the 'gimbal' elevation. Thanks for that. I also found out I can set up my waypoints without having to have the drone itself turned on. It took me a while to figure it out but I got there in the end. Maybe that in and of itself is worth a short tutorial.

    Terrific explanation! Question: when you are on waypoint 3 at 4:48 into the video, Follow Course Heading is shown according to the planned track. I get that. Then, you press the 'Follow Course' menu at the bottom left of the box. When you press Custom in the menu, what previously read 'Follow Course Heading' changes to 0° Heading. It appears as if the arrow at waypoint 3 then changes to face north on the map. (4:58) When you move the custom slider to the right, the heading changes to a positive number and when the slider is moved to the left, the heading changes to a minus number. Here, then, are my 2 questions: 1) when you change from Follow Course to Custom, does the heading pointer always default to a heading of north? 2) If so, does a heading of, for example, -30 then meaning the pointer is pointing to a heading of 330°? If the heading is reading 30, would that mean a heading of 030°? Thanx in advance.

    Thankyou very much for your detailed instructions. I am reasonably comfortable with Way Points but had one question which you answered. Sometimes that curve in flight path is there to sweeten the video look, but can unwittingly generate a route over a place you need to avoid. If you want to go back and insert an additional waypoint, say between 2 and 3, but you are now planning at number 32 you effectively delete 4 to 32, move 3 to the desired insertion pointand start all over again. I suppose the secret is to take your time and think carefully about what you want. Planning on a big desk top screen (if possible) would be ideal.

    I haven’t decided as yet whether to buy a DJI Pro 4 drone as I’m not sure how much I would actually use it given that I don’t post to TH-cam or any social media platforms. My main hobby for the past few years has been photography and a drone seems like the logical next step but, only if I actually use it. I enjoyed your tutorial, it was extremely informative and has given me a much better understanding as to the features of the DJI Pro 4. I was impressed by the wide range of parameters that can be adjusted and how you can set the waypoints at home before going out. However, when you were outside I didn’t quite understand everything that you were saying but I have saved your tutorial and can easily watch it again.

    Mats...thanks very much for yet another SUPERB VIDEO. I've watched several Waypoint "How To" videos here on TH-cam and this is hands down THE BEST! One thing I've discovered...and it's apparently a known issue with DJI...you cannot film in the Night Mode while flying a Waypoint flight. I'm headed out tonight to film a Waypoint flight of our spectacular Christmas lights. I flew this Waypoint mission today to test it...and will fly it tonight. Hope to get some great video...albeit NOT in the Night Mode. Merry Christmas and thanks again!

    Interesting... Is there a setting to "continue" upon signal loss? Can you save missions offline? Is there a Mission History tab?.. Oh & at 15:30 .. the GPS position was set in a live situation.. so it should be exactly as you inputted it. If you made the mission on a map then it could be out a few meters.

    • @olabergvall3154
      @olabergvall3154 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Continue mission" on signal loss is indeed an option on the Mini 4 Pro, but only outside the EU. In the EU, it is disabled for compliance/legal reasons.

    First, excellent tutorial. Thanks you. An observation and a comment. From my limited experience, I noticed the drone will start turning (in direction) immediately to whatever the NEXT waypoint is telling it after going past say the first waypoint. But for speed, it won’t change until you actually hit that next waypoint. So I had to adjust based upon that. Meaning if I wanted to view a POI #1 at waypoint three and a different point of interest (POI #2)at waypoint 4, my expectation was it should stay locked on POI #1 UNTIL I get to waypoint 4. But that won’t happen unless I put POI #1 for both 3 AND 4. Speed as I mentioned will change immediately. My question is what happens if it encounters an object on route. You say it hovers to a stop regardless of how I have the obstacle avoidance. So it will stay there hovering until either I change the direction or the battery runs down to the point where it deems I needs to do a RTH? Thank you

    Hi. another great video.. Top stuff.... One question. I just tried to plan a route in advance while watching your video... I could not add a waypoint as the drone needed to be in flight... How was you able to plan this route while indoors.?. ( was the drone outside in flight ? ). Well that was sort of two questions... Thank you...

    Hi! There is one difference wit go 4 app and dji fly app. One can add a new wp between two others with the Mavic 2 pro and go 4 app. I haven't found that possible with Mini 4 pro and the RC 2...

    thx for the video, what is the minimum distance between way points and minimum altitude? can I have the drone to fly in a loop between two points which are just 10' away from each other and altitude 5' from the ground?

    Very nice and informative tutorial about using waypoints with the M4P. Thanks for posting! At 8' 53" you mention the options RTH, Hover and Land in the Lost Signal situation. In some other posts I also see a 4th option: "Continue". Isn't that available for the M4P?

      Continue is not allowed in the EU,therefore its not available in the menu's because the creator is located in sweden. Its clearly stated in the manual.

    Can you please let me know if we can fly the waypoint video in reverse like how it can be done in waypoint-hyperlapse.
    Even when I select starting waypoint as the last waypoint(eg. 6 of the 1-6), it just goes to 6 and then starts to RTH...
    Kindly help.

    Are DJI mini 3 pro possibly will have waypoint feature , or we are out of the luck and only options is to buy new drone (and RC - because of they are Not compatible)

    how many waypoints can you set on a single flight?
    would this be true, the more waypoints the better the flight pattern?

    Very good video, thanks. My question is if you need to keep the drone turned on when you're planing your waypoints on the RC. I guess it must be on to get in to the wp menu, then I turned the drone off to save battery and it will be able to finish my mission. An year ago I was using Litchi with my "old" P4P and it was so easy to plan sitting confortable in front your PC. Now you're a little bit limited until a new version of waypoints with better edition-features appears. Another question is if the altitude from each wp is the altitude relative to the home-point. So you must add the terrain elevation to avoid obstacles. Another negative point is that the mission will not be continued when you loss signal. I understand that's a risc to fly without signal, but if you plan you mission using google earth to check altitudes and the best paths, I guess it will be ok. Thanks for your helpful video.

      Hey!
      I have actually a video about how you plan your waypoints without the drone! Check it out here: Create Waypoints with Drone Turned OFF!

    It looks so cool. Can you take a normal manual flight, and use that pattern as a base for a Waypoint setup ? Thanks

    • @MK-Creator
      @MK-Creator  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t fully understand what you are looking for here… one of the ways to set waypoints is to set a waypoint while flying “normal” :)

      @@MK-Creator Thanks for the reply :) When you fly, you get a flight "history" or flight pattern in the log. Can you use this flight pattern as a base for a Waypoint setup ? Like import it into Waypoint setup. Hope that make sense :)

    I was thinking that doing a gimbal adjustment (and maybe a little bit of zoom action) to the tree POI may have been better than a drone height adjustment (thus encountering obstacle issues) would have been better. I was also anticipating more on how to save, name and then going back in to a saved mission and editing it then re-saving with the new edits. I just recently tried setting up a simple waypoint mission for the first time and found the whole saving process to be a bit confusing. I ended up with multiple numbered waypoint missions and had no idea which was which.
    I would think that setting up a waypoint mission in the air as you go along and then going back into the saved mission later and fine tuning the parameters would be the best way to go for creating a saved mission ready for cinematic video recording.
    ....just my thoughts. I am looking for a video tutorial that delves more into the above interests.

    I am assuming the waypoints are being stored in an XML or JSON format. Do you know if you can access these files on your computer? Can you create or edit these files on your computer and import them into your controller or drone?

    About camera action on waypoint, your example waypoint 1 starts rec. and waypoint 4 take a picture. Stop recording is set to waypoint nr5 but recording is already stopped after wp4. Is that ok or a bug?

    Let's say I want a waypoint at a specific point for which I have the exact coordinates, but it is hard for me to actually go near the points (but I can go within flying range 3-5 km from the points) and there is no clear visual reference to use the map, can I create a waypoint out of coordinate values? From looking at the manual and videos like this (good job by the way), it seems that you can't, which is surprising to me when you can do it easily in other map based apps (google maps for instance using kml files that can be produced and read by many other apps and software). One of the great possibilities I see of this model for my work is doing canopy photo sampling of the same fixed points over time, and I have the coordinates for the points I want. Not all of them easy to actually go really near them and no easy way to pinpoint them in a road/buildings map (no roads or buildings) or the satellite layer (lots of trees that look just the same). Giving how much great technology is involved in this model , it is surprising to me that coordinate input programing of waypoints is not an option using kml files or any other way. Any thoughts? suggestions? Am I missing something? Thank you!

    Very useful video. But question...
    How do flightplan without downloaded map of Area? Or how download to RC bigger map than 2x2km?
    I think Will be nice add Tool for planing wp-flight in web browser.RC has very small screen.

    There's one thing to be aware of: when creating a waypoint mission while flying, the altitude of a recorded waypoint will be set relative to homepoint altitude. If you then try to fly that mission from a home point on a different altitude, the drone will fly at different absolute altitude than during the original flight. This can result in drone running into obstacles due to flying too low.
