520HP Genesis Coupe 2.0T Review! A Hyundai Done Right

  • The Genesis Coupe has become a popular entry level sports car for the masses. With a 3.8 V6 and 4 cylinder turbo offered, most people gravitate towards the V6. However after driving this monster of a 2.0t my entire perspective has changed. This Genesis Coupe with a Precision 6262 single turbo and built internals will surprise just about anybody on the street with its sights and sounds. With fire coming out the back of the exhaust, it's hard not to love this thing.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe making some beautiful noises out of it, and ever since then I have wanted one so badly. However, I never even considered looking into the 2.0 before this. I got crazy lucky and picked my 2.0 r spec up for 4 grand, for the prices genesis coupes go for there really is no competing with it, except for maybe a 350z. They arent very fast stock, but with a simple canned tune, slightly higher boost, and full bolt ons its loads of fun. The aftermarket is still thriving pretty well too so there's lots of options. I drive a black one with barely any mods, because when I do I'm doing similar to the engine but just simple stuffed turbo custom tune slight intake+ mods most people hit around 350-370 with that on 94octane.
These are underrated. Stock BK2 is easy to get well past 300whp for under a grand in mods. If you get an rspec trim it comes with LSD and brembos. They're hard to sell so yes, very cheap on the used market. You can find FBO bk2s for under 10 all day

The Neon SRT4 ways 2900lbs and the GenCoupe 2.0 weighs 3294lbs with the RSpec weighing 3244. The Cobolt would probably do damage to considering it weights 2981lbs.

I eventually went with the ISR as there was some black friday sale going on or something for a decent price. I agree, having a chasis mounted shifter and a poly trans bushing has fixed the shifting drastically. I'll still get second gear grind/lockout rarely every now and then, but the shifting feels so much more visceral and connected. They also just look freaking cool. I'd say the shifter, and a canned tune are probably 2 of the most cost effective mods someone could do to the car, that completely transforms it.
