- A few weeks ago we bought this Abandoned Genesis Coupe for $1,000 off the side of the road.. this car was abandoned for 4+ years, and today we took it for its FIRST DRIVE since the timing chain went & the previous owner parked it! With a new 2.0T engine, and a little love, WE DID IT!

The big "magnet" could be a vibration dampener. Had one similar to that on my volvo 940. Almost the same shape and it weighed a lot for being so small

That's a vibration dampener. It uses its large mass to absorb some of the exhaust vibration.
For future reference, don’t mate the engine to the trans using the torque converter. If the torque converter gets pulled out of the oil pump that’s inside the transmission, and you squish the trans and engine together without putting it back in, you will break the oil pump and will need a new trans. Instead, make sure the torque converter is seated and rotated to a point where you can access the holes once everything’s put together, use the bell housing bolts (through the dowel pin holes if possible) to mate the transmission to the engine, THEN use the crank pulley bolt to rotate the flex plate till the holes line up with the torque converter and bolt everything down. 👍🏽
2:50 thats a vibration damper as far as i was told by my colleagues at the Hyundai dealership i work at. Just absorbs vibrations and a little noise i think
looks like anti corrosion to me. I don't work on cars though I work on planes. Could be different. Anti vibration should be mounted on a shock mount.
That big block that you were asking about is basically a sound absorber. It eats up a lot of the vibrations that are generated by the motor. They’re actually pretty common on a lot of cars, but I don’t see any real reason for any of them.
Good advice Mac. I will always support you 100% on what you do and remember always follow your dreams and don’t let anyone change you. I have to agree with all the comments that you and Robbie make a good team.
A lot of fun watching someone do all the big maintenance on the same car I have. The gen coupes are so easy to work on, did my motor mounts in my apartment parking lot.

Thats oil in the ac lines, usally has dye as well to help find leaks with blacklights 👍

And if you get a volt meter and check your battery car running if getting 14.5s alternator is good if getting lower numbers the alternator is not charging👍🏼

Since you like the bk2 front end you should check out m&s America they sell a front bumper called the hyper G it looks like a bk2 front bumper but it’s made for the bk1 it even cuts off the pointy part of the head lights that some people don’t like.

That “pee pee” is pag oil, ac needs it to keep things lubricated. I suggest blocking off the ports to ac so it doesn’t cause you problems later.

The big magnet is a counter weight for the car. If it’s not put back and you drive it, it will vibrate so hard you’d think the car is failing apart.

I think you should keep this car with the bk1 headlights but get a fresh set of them and just get a bk1 body kit. So both the genesis’s look different

just so you know Robbie, there is some oil in the AC system so that the pump has lubrication

Tape the ac connector on the firewall or you will have a bad time with ac, later a flush is recommended
Rip me my genny is high enough to get a jack under but I can’t afford coils tryna help a homie out if u ever pull stock r spec suspension let me buy it off u so I can get springs atleast
You can completely remove a battery from a car with a good alternator hell even cut the terminals off no battery wires left if the car is running and the alternator is working that car will run.

Surprisingly my KIA can run with no battery connected must have a strong alternator even tho it's the original one with 230k miles on it
