Connection Design Overview - Part 5: Design with User Defined Template || Custom Connector, AISC, IS

In this video, I will cover how we can create a custom database in RAM with company specific templates, update existing template from any standard database and use those for connection design. During customization of connection database, we need to maintain correct database format. What is the correct format, how we can avoid any mistake during template generation, that I will discuss in detail.
For any steel structure, connections are the most vulnerable part, and we need to design these properly considering all factors and check whether it can withstand the critical most loading condition. For any industrial or commercial steel building, like a plant or pipe rack structure, or a PEB warehouse, there are thousands of connections which we need to design, including member to member, bracing or base plate connection. To design any connection, we require the geometric data - like section information, orientation, spacing along with the load data, or member end forces. Based on this, connection design is performed.
