I can't afford to have a pro wrap my car. My car is also worth less than the price of the wrap. So, I'd figured this would be an interesting project to try. I've never done anything like this. Thank you for these videos. :)
Thank you sopp much for thi video. It's either prepimg thr csr with sanding it down. And using black paint. Guessing to cover white spots. The first video that actually I informative. And step by step.
I'm still yet to watch every single one of your videos but I love the good info I know the video is about 4 years old but still very Up-to-date Thank you keep the videos coming
Good video. Great tips! Thanks. Bummer about the redo. You could have come back and just recorded audio to put over the video. But I’m happy to have a 12 minute video that covers the same tips.
Good way to figure this stuff out is on a website “WePrintWraps.com” they print customers wraps as well as have a PDF file with the amount of wrap you’ll need.
Hi. Thanks for another very informative video. My question is if I have a car with a badly chipped front bumper, can I water paper sand the bumper before wrapping to get a perfect finish? Obviously it will need respraying if I remove the wrap, but would it help to flat it down a bit to achieve a good finish? Thanks again. Rudi (South Africa)
Ahh another good one !! Here's a Kool word to spice your presentation up even more , i just made up , letting other's and teaching , PIP , not picture in picture , but , prep is patience , thank's again , John , Harwinton Connecticut USA
It's so difficult to find straight answers on the internet now, this guy says he uses IPA but yet other videos say it's an absolute no as it swells clear coat, dilute to 12% etc. So now I'm scared to use anything on my new motorbike!! I also do wonder if these wrap companies have done the research 😬
Thanks for the video! I have always used 2 different buckets for wheels and car like you do. I also use another 2 buckets of clean water to rinse the brushes, wash mitts, etc before dunking them back in the wash buckets. Keeps all the crap you clean off the car from getting in your clean wash waters.
If the clear coat is still intact, you can buff and polish the clear coat to get the shine back. However if the clear coat is gone you have no choice but to repaint or wrap the car
I actually just warped my Infiniti Q50 and had the worst time with the front bumper. It would be awesome for you to show how you did it. I did mine in pieces..... sadly. The bumpers killed me. Thank you!
So I was trying to fix some chips before my install as I can feel them with my finger, so ill see them after the wrap. Just had the car hand washed to remove last washes wax. Got it home and hit it with Isoprop on a microfiber to prep for the chip fix and it looked like a film of cold bacon grease everywhere I wiped. Just a white greasy mess I was pushing around. Took forever to get it off with damp iso microfib. Is this just waxy residue left over and im assuming a bottle of water and dawn dishwashing det will remove it ya?
What is a good alternative to isopropyl alcohol for films that recommend not usimg it to prep the surface? For example with the Avery ColorFlow film they state on their site do not use isopropyl alcohol before applying the film.
I’m unable to find 70% Isopropyl Alcohol anywhere near me due to the pandemic. But I did find a TON of bottles of 50% at the 99c Store of all places. Would 50% be adequate enough to use before laying down vinyl? Thanks for any help.
If you’re going to vinyl wrap over it… just wet sand it smooth, vinyl is like… painting a wall that has repaired holes in it. Itll be smooth where the holes were repaired, and have normal texture in the paint, if you just wet sand your failed clear coat, (until it feels smooth to the touch) you will not be able to see the imperfection over the wrap. But. Any imperfection will show under the wrap. Including… cracks, texture, a drastic level change (anything you can feel a ‘lip’ sometimes even only 1/32”) and of course.. dirt or debris. Literally a grain of sand will be noticeable. Sorry I noticed this comment and it was already years later :(
I still watch these and laugh because wait till you live and Florida and you wrap cars that people drive on the beach or just in general and you will find sand EVERYWHERE even if you detail the entire car sand will fall out of everywhere
Doesn’t anyone use polishing compound with an orbital polisher anymore? Why has everyone switched to rubbing cars by hand with clay bars??? That’s like...WORK. 🧐
Morning, Had an odd question semi off topic. I'm wrapping a vinyl graphic around a Fender Strat guitar. I know that your focus is cars not guitars. But, perhaps you have an idea on how to best approach wrapping the tight radius on the guitar horns without creating the "bottle capping" effect? I'm just throwing this strange one out there? I have knifeless tape, heat gun, etc... Thanks
@@petegeanacopulos1582 I’ve heard it’s abrasive at that level I’m actually not familiar with the science of it that’s just what I’ve heard from professionals

For good reason. This man needs a raise. Or a hug.
I so appreciate your videos, I will try to wrap my self a Ford Mustang Cabrio 2016 :))) We will see how it goes
Did u do it?

Hey, can you do a video on measuring how much material you need for a wrap???
I have always found that it is usually the amount you estimate plus another 5 feet lol

Highly informative as usual. Cheers brother.

Quick question! Is there any specific special way to prep paint that is faded or oxidized by the Sun?

thanks men, your videos are awesome
Is that 100% isopropyl or did you mix it with water or something?
Hi CK, great vids keep it up. On a side not and unrelated to this what product do you use to wash Matte vinyls, and are vinyl sealers necessary ?
what about nicks and dings on the car?
Question do you charge this as a separate fee or included in your wrap price?
Really interested to see how the vinyl covers up the stone chipped bumper.
You would see every rock chip.

Question about rubbing alcohol,Which one better, 75% or 99%?
99
Hey man how did you find the space that your in for the video? What did you google to find it? Im looking for one‼️
are the rock chips going to show on the wrap ?
Do you mix in water with the isopropyl alcohol?
Isn’t tac solution alcohol? Or is tac just ipa diluted with water?
Does anyone know that he use any adhesion promoter or he just use the Isopropyl Alcohol?
When you say isopropyl alcohol, do you mean neat 99.9%?
70%
Thanks for replying man, appreciate it!
Good job bro

Dish soap is good at removing wax
How much for a job like that one?
Hellon. At what temperature you use the heat gun
do you window tint or is that too easy? lol
hey bro , where can purchase this vinly wrap from
Can you do paint correction before a wrap?

I used isopropyl and it's been fine with their colorflow

Dang wish I watched this before I wrapped my car! I had to do a redo in a spot cuz wasn't this thorough. Good info as usual
Ventilation air scrubbers
100% the bumper has been painted... in the video it appears that the colors are not even close to matching.

Shavin McCrotch it decontaminates the paint anything that washing doesn't pick up ... do that b4 anything else .

If you use 100% isopropanol, not that 70/30 bullshit, you wont have to worry about evaporation. Whats being leftover is the water, use 100% IPA.
100% can actually crack headlights
@@owen3516 how, what's the process that makes an alcohol crack a plastic?

Very thorough i will be using these tips to wrap my car and destroy it lmao hopefully not
Lol do not use dish soap. It strips grease but that's what your car needs to have on it to stay healthy 😂
The ONLY right time to use dish soap is for a pre wrap on a clear coat. Single stage paint; NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!
That bumper looks like a total bastard to wrap
