Thank you so much for vlogging your journey. I had sinus surgery 6 days ago & I can't tell you enough what a support your videos have been. It just helps so much to be able to relate to someone else's experience. Your testimony is an eye opener that this surgery is "no joke" & it's normal to feel miserable for a while. I'm glad you no longer suffer from chronic sinusitis. That was my problem, as well. I'm just hoping this surgery helps. I'm so sick of being sick all the time.Thank you again for sharing your experience.

I just had sinus surgery, yesterday.
Surprisingly: I’m not in too much pain (in itself) but my main complaint is that I can’t breathe through my nose, which is the worst feeling in the world.
My nose keeps bleeding (which is a common symptom, and I had to change my gauze 4 times, since I got home) but thankfully, I have a follow-up appointment, next week.
I pray they remove the splints in my nose, next week, but I watched your video, a few days prior to my surgery, and wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
Many people on the Internet love to exaggerate, scare people, and make things sound worse than what they really are.
While everyone’s experience is different: you motivated me to proceed with having surgery, despite the large amount of anxiety that I had, beforehand, so I wanted to show my appreciation to you for that. :)

Thank you so much for this series! I have been having a nervous breakdown over the number of days I've been bleeding. I'm on day 7. In the US they make you go back to work after 5-7 days. I saw the ENT 8 days ago and l see him again tomorrow. I am absolutely dreading getting the packing pulled out. Just so you know I know this is old but you may one day get another sinus surgery and I wanna tell you for next time the reason it’s black and smellybb by is you haven’t been rinsing enuf so the red blood wasn’t rinsed out so what was left turned black and dried blood stinks so next time you need to be rinsing at least 3 times a day but if your bleeding a lot you can rinse as often as you want cause when I go in for my follow up and he looked up my nose and nothing was there to suck out and he said whatever I did was exactly the perfect thing to do, Everytime I felt like blowing my nose I’d use my bottle and rinse and it would relieve that and the stuffiness just for future or for your subs this is some great advice. Well wishes

    • @SashSays
      @SashSays  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I loved your videos on this.. I went in and they scraped out my sinuses under my eyes, my nasal area & my cheek bone area (all sinus areas as far as I'm aware but I might be a little confused). Then I had to have extra openings I've had since birth cleaned out & sewed shut.. Then on top of that they reduced my adenoids down and fixed my deviated septum.
I remember going into the OR, getting on the table, but they never warned me that I was going out any second. I just woke up, extremely confused. I began hyperventilating, panicking, and received the worst bedside manner I've ever experienced at a hospital or in any medical situation. I was made to feel like a nuisance and was given no assurance/boost of confidence that what I was experiencing was normal.
The nurses would then eventually look up what I had done and all had an expression of shock, as if it finally made sense as to why I was in such a bad state.
My surgery was scheduled for 7:30AM and I was told I'd likely be going home at 11:30AM. I ended up sitting in a recliner after my surgery for 9 hours consistently soaking gauze & tissues with blood.
I am sure when I originally inquired about the surgery, I was made aware of the amount of things they would be doing. However, I don't feel they expressed the severity of it all to me in a way that I could understand as a person not educated in the medical field.
The nurse said to me "Some people come out of this surgery with no pain at all! It doesn't seem you're one of the lucky ones". While that was true to start, after I left the hospital and slept off and on due to the dripping down my throat, I didn't have to take a single pain med outside of what they gave me directly out of surgery.
So.. Seems my day 1 was a NIGHTMARE, but I've been lucky with smooth sailing since.
To anyone reading this; don't let my experience scare you from getting this surgery if it'll better your quality of life with breathing ect. My experience is unique to my body and it doesn't mean you'll suffer or go through anything as severe. I am 3 days into recovery and all I feel like is as if I have a head cold due to how much clotted/dry blood is up there. I can practically breathe through my nose already. It's just clogged.
Also.. I woke up with my tongue so dry I felt like Spongebob in that episode where they are in Sandy's dome without water hahahaha.

2nd: I was watching u're video and got the point that the doctor took out from u're nose something but didn't really get what and if yes , then did hi do it in the both side of the nose or just one (left or right) .

i had packing in my nose for 2 weeks then had it removed by surgeon and had a check up. i hated that so much ickkkkk.
the doctor literally just shaved the inside a tad to open up the nose canals. like cartilege? i believe it's called. no bones. but basically vacuumed up scar tissue :) that was what was actually the issue overall. the scar tissue kept getting infected! x

I just had sinus surgery and septoplasty last friday. My ENT put me on antibiotics for one week and prednisone for over a month. I don't like to take cortisone (here in the US prednisone is also referred to as a steroid). Were you on any sort of steroid/cortisone as well after the procedure? And if so, for how long?

I have chronic sinusitis and polyps up my nose. My ENT prescribed me some medication, but I reacted badly to it. See him again the end of January. I know that surgery is likely to happen. I'm shit scared of having surgery. On a scale from 1- 10 ( 10 being the worst), how bad was the pain and not being able to breathe etc. I had a severely blocked nose from my sinus infection for 2 days and I could barely cope. Totally freaking out!

surgery was scary but worked for me! i could breathe through my nose nearly all the time, but i got chronic sinusitis every month or so... so it was constant illness that made me get the surgery not neccessarily a blocked nose. have a think and chat to family too :) x good luck

This is the part that FREAKS me OUT!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

I Just had surgery last week for nasal polyps, deviated septum, and sinuses that were opacified: Ethmoid, Frontal, Maxillary, Sphenoid. I lost my sense of smell and taste almost a year ago. My congestion kept getting worse (almost totally mouth breathing), balance was off, pain in upper teeth, etc. Glad I had the surgery, and I understand that recovery can be slow, but absolutely worth it. If you have any specific questions, I will try to answer them for you.

This is kinda a weird question but. I've been suffering from sinus pressure and my adenoids are inflamed but I dont have like a runny nose and my nose isnt completly congested but a little but I get pretty bad nose pressure. I'm not sure what's going on I've told my mom and we've visited the doctor and they told me to do nose rinses and they also gave me nose spray non of it's been helping so in your opinion do you think these symptoms might need to get surgery for? Of course I should see a doctor again and see other options first. I just dont know if anyone has ever had these exact symptoms and got surgery and felt better. Hope someone can give me some information :)
