Tip for anyone watching for a upcoming procedure, ask your Doctor if you can use sore throat numbing spray only after you get the feeling back from the numbing lidocaine. Almost all will say its fine and it really helps if you're more squimish or can't handle mucus/blood taste from draining as well as help make the irrigation and afrin spray more manageable

I'm having this done in a few weeks. I had a bad reaction to anesthesia from a past surgery so I'm glad to be fixing my deviated septum in this way. Thanks for sharing your experience. It surely calmed my nerves.
The office I went to recommend this procedure to everyone that walks in. Makes me think they make good profit from the insurance companies. Not sure but I didn’t find out this particular business did this until seeing a different ENT and they explained that certain companies do this: not sure, but I still get stuffed up every night and have frequent sinus infections and post nasal drip. It’s been long enough that my nose has healed. Overall wouldn’t ever do it again, just a bloody painful mess I was awake the entire time. Horrible

Hello, I am getting this done at the end of August. I have been having issue since 2003! 19 years now!!! I did rhinoplasty in Paris, and I moved to Montreal Canada right after that where I started having allergies. So, both combined I ended up taking nose spray. Some days are worse than others. Sometimes I do not breath at all and sometimes just one of them. I forgot how I did breathe before?! it's been so long! If this could help me, I think I would just cry of happiness. I am scared of the medicine before because those makes me sick. I am not a medicine person. Freaking out about the procedure, that is why I never had the courage to do it. But I must! Thank you for this video, as of now it's Friday October 7th, I'm to go into the ENT on Monday the 10th, and like you I've had this sinus issue for years and and have just been putting it off being afraid of so-called surgery, but dealing with this headaches and this pain, and on top of that I just recently within two weeks at Oral Surgery had my upper teeth removed, what other reasons, but with the sinus infection constant no matter what I do I never wake up breathing I haven't slept well in months, so I was definitely worried about going in and having anything with the word operation in it, but you have definitely made me feel a lot more calmer about going in to see the ENT people on Monday, I actually can't wait after hearing you, cuz I can't remember the last time I actually was able to breathe normally, and then have some kind of pain somewhere in my face or my head, so thanks a lot for your video, and wish me luck
Good luck dude! It's way more in your head than it actually is. I made a series of videos over the year after the surgery every now and then. Honestly I've only had like 2 infections since I've had this done 2 years ago.
@@cturboaddict yeah there is definitely way more going on than I knew, I spent $100 on a electric neti pot, called a novage, thinking that it would rinse everything out, only to find out that it doesn't do anything that $2 neti pot doesn't do, because I didn't realize that there were way more sinus Pockets than just the ones in your nostrils
@@cturboaddict this has been the worst I have ever had,,and then like I said,,I also had the remaining 13 top teeth taking out,I was a huge sugar eater ,beside messing up my teeth ,it also came with a slice of diabetes,,and by me not having any idea that your sinuses are really close to your teeth, catching a sinus infection really has made the past 3 weeks hell,, none of the antibiotics or ibuprofen, or Sudafed, not even Mucinex is working,, it means like the knights are the worst, but I'm assuming it's because I can't breathe through my nose, and bring me to my mouth dries up the holes from the pulled teeth which causes pain also, so Monday can't get here quick enough, it's only an appointment that was made when I went to the emergency room here in Minnesota, that I was able to get a fairly quick equipment with the Ent people, so I'm hoping that they do something that day after that day with this pain cover I'm 50 years old, and grew up on the west side of chicago, and unfortunately I have felt all kinds of pain, and none of it out beats the pain of one night of these headaches that I have
It helps to have a younger body with any medical procedure, in my case I am on the upper third age wise so this must be why my experience differs from yours with regard to pain and recovery times. My doc did a couple extra bonus nose procedures because of a coin toss game he plays, “win the game get some extra misery”. He clipped an adhesion from a prior fight and cauterized the side which has chronic bleeding. When he inserted the numbing agent into both nostrils that may have been as unpleasant as it gets, a bit too forceful I believe so quite a bit of tolerable pain. The cutting was not fun and expanding the balloons which makes the cartilage crack and sounds like stepping on bubble wrap, which opens the pathway was not pleasant but tolerable due to the medication given prior to the procedure. Whenever you have your cartridge cracked be prepared for some pain, certainly not horrible but there. The issues I have are all post op. ; Extremely clogged and swollen passages, lots of blood for the first three days, doing a sinus rinse 4-5 times a day is good but the saline tends to burn everything to some degree, I wasn’t told about that side effect and would have appreciated knowing about it as it is a bit unpleasant and a little warning would have helped. I had hoped this was going to be much easier to deal with and almost ready to roll after 5 days, not this time around but if it all works in the end it will have definitely been worth it.
@@cturboaddict overall it wasn't too bad. The first few days sucked. The doctor ended up putting the dissolving medicine stents in my sinuses and I have been snorting and coughing up pieces of those even up to a week ago. However I don't feel any major relief with having the surgery done. I still have a hard time breathing out of my right nostril and I still have pretty bad drainage that causes me to cough a lot. But pain wise overall that wasn't too bad just felt like a bad sinus infection

@@dilwalecricket Oh wow so sorry for the late response. I feel perfectly normal now! Occasionally I'll feel the need to irrigate my nose but that's it besides that it's nice and easy to breathe. I didn't even have to take any pain medicine the next day.
Weird how many ENT doctors push for Septoplasty instead of Balloon Septoplasty for simple nasal cavity openings. Some major hospitals don’t even offer the option
Septoplasty is a permanent solution, balloon sinuplasty is temporary. The balloon is good where surgery/cutting isn’t possible or where cutting/surgery is risky. Balloon sinuplasty is also good when you think the problem will go away once sinuses are initially opened and drained
For me, I did more than just the balloon procedure only. I had a 4-part sinus surgery and it was AMAZING! :) I had: 1) my deviated septum straightened. 2) turbinate reduction. 3) enlarged my right sinus cavity 4) Eustachian tube balloon sinuplasty
Balloon sinuplasty is basically an “I’m too afraid to get real surgery” surgery. It’s great technology, but from what I’ve studied and also from my experience getting the 4-part “REAL” surgery, I’d say the COMPLETE surgery is a much better long-term option for lasting results.
Balloon sinuplasty is almost like a “maintenance” thing. Or its a great addition, if you’re also combining that with other surgery. For example, my right sinus was initially (first) opened and drained using the balloon sinuplasty… BUT, my surgeon also then cut away the tissue from that sinus opening, bcuz he said it wasn’t gonna stay open with just the balloon bcuz the sinus was resisting and very closed off. So it needed to be cut and re-shaped, to be more open, so it can permanently be able to drain fluid/mucus (and also be able to equalize when I’m going scuba diving). Which makes total 100% sense and I’m glad he did it
Going to ring a ENT tomorrow and look into this, it's great to hear someones thoughts, thanks you for posting your experience, not keen on the knife surgery! Cheers
I think I need this. I've had multiple nose surgeries for a collapsed nasal valve, but the air doesn't seem to be flowing through the canals that lead to the sinuses. I feel slight relief when my sinuses "crackle""
@@marmarmcfly4451 you're more than welcome to. I called my doctor a couple days after too. He said, "it always gets worse before it gets better". While it didn't get worse necessarily, it did start getting better after a couple days.
Hi. Great video. Did you have ear fullness as well? My issue is that one side of my nose is clogged and it "jolts" me awake at night a few times a week and I feel this procedure may help. Did you experience similar issues?
I did have ear fullness prior to the surgery. That was reduced significantly with the surgery. But it stil comes around. ENT said we may need to look into the ears again in the future. I've slept significantly better since the surgery.
@@cturboaddict I'm curious what the outcome of your ear fullness has been? I've suffered from that for 4.5 years and ENT's have been useless, telling me it's just hearing loss. It gets worse when I eat and I feel like I'm feeding parasites or some other kind of infection in my sinuses. Thanks!

@@gbozack5935 I have the same thing. Nevage
@@cturboaddict this has been the worst I have ever had,,and then like I said,,I also had the remaining 13 top teeth taking out,I was a huge sugar eater ,beside messing up my teeth ,it also came with a slice of diabetes,,and by me not having any idea that your sinuses are really close to your teeth, catching a sinus infection really has made the past 3 weeks hell,, none of the antibiotics or ibuprofen, or Sudafed, not even Mucinex is working,, it means like the knights are the worst, but I'm assuming it's because I can't breathe through my nose, and bring me to my mouth dries up the holes from the pulled teeth which causes pain also, so Monday can't get here quick enough, it's only an appointment that was made when I went to the emergency room here in Minnesota, that I was able to get a fairly quick equipment with the Ent people, so I'm hoping that they do something that day after that day with this pain cover I'm 50 years old, and grew up on the west side of chicago, and unfortunately I have felt all kinds of pain, and none of it out beats the pain of one night of these headaches that I have
Update? How did it go with the sinus procedure?
Sounds like what I need. Thanks for sharing.
Going to post a follow up. I'm now 2 months since.
Good point
Thanks!! I have this procedure on July 9th. You’ve put my fear at ease.
No reason to worry. Feel free to ask any questions. I posted a video each month after, check them out! You'll be 100% fine!

@@jsully4074 how about you J? How did it go?
@@cturboaddict overall it wasn't too bad. The first few days sucked. The doctor ended up putting the dissolving medicine stents in my sinuses and I have been snorting and coughing up pieces of those even up to a week ago. However I don't feel any major relief with having the surgery done. I still have a hard time breathing out of my right nostril and I still have pretty bad drainage that causes me to cough a lot. But pain wise overall that wasn't too bad just felt like a bad sinus infection

I haven’t been able to breathe out of my nose since I was little I’m gonna start looking into this
Go see an ent.
Weird how many ENT doctors push for Septoplasty instead of Balloon Septoplasty for simple nasal cavity openings. Some major hospitals don’t even offer the option
Yup.
Cheers

Thanks!

@@cturboaddict can I ask u did ur congestion come and go mine is coming and then goes away
Did they wash out the mucous
Yes. Extracted it actually
How much did it cost
Just my insurance deductible
They put me to sleep , and I got plunges in my nose now and I’m in mad pain.
I had this procedure done yesterday morning
The first 2 days are going to be recovery. They did not put me to "sleep". I was awake the entire time talking to the doctor during the procedure. Did you have the BALLOON procedure?
So when do the blood clots clear in the nose
Mine eased up substantially after day 2. Day 4 I was at a bday party. At work on Monday. Watch my other videos on the follow up from here..
When will I be able to breathe again 😂
@@texans117 fully breathe clear will take a week or two. After the surgery, you're swollen. Once that subsides you'll start seeing results.
@@texans117 how are ya now after?
@@cturboaddict that procedure changed my life, from the best sleep of my life, to improved oral hygiene, I strongly recommend this procedure to anyone who needs it
minimally invasive is the word you're looking for I think
I cant breath through my nose when i am exercising i got to open my mouth i think i need this procedure and also they tell me i am always snoring at night also i am sneezing everyday when i smell dust and shit very bad air flow through my nose all day
Do you know how much it is without insurance?
I do not.
@@cturboaddict Obviously it can differ for everyone, but I went in for a final CT scan before being confirmed to do the procedure in a few weeks and in my situation they said I’d need to pay any remainder of my $1200 deductible and later on I’d be billed for only 20% of the procedure. So I’d probably have to pay about $900 up front (what’s left of my deductible, then if the procedure costs $3000 (it varies), I’d be billed $600 later on.
That’s just a ballpark figure but that’s the idea
Wondering how much the procedure without insurance?
I'm sure the pricing is different if your paying personally. But, my bill was around 10k before insurance.
@@cturboaddict Im having it done tomorrow at st lukes in st louis by Dr Burke who worked with Sheldon Davis. Burke said $2,000 but im sure it wii be more. Im not sure if thats after insurance though..
so I just called and they said the insurance approved the surgery and isnt going to cost my anything. hmm i will see i guess. It does make sense for the insurance company if it will avoid extra doctor appointments and medications and improve my health..
@@steve61696 yeah, I hit my deductible. Which was 1k, and then 100% coinsurance after, so my insurance company picked up the bill. Your insurance may vary, and for dear god just make sure the procedure is approved prior to.
i am dealing with this for 6 months...never any issues...now its constant nasty discharging maybe 50 times a day... it all started when i had covid... lungs cleared up but this is horrible.. watery eyes..sneezing .... what type of antibotics ??? had ct scan...said i have chronic sinustitus... lab test showed i have bateria staph infection ...all doctor gave me is 5 days of AMOX-CLAV (10 tablets)...after 3 days i still have no relief ... thanks for sharing
You got this after balloon surgery? Or cause of covid?
@@cturboaddict had no surgery yet..my ent took sample(have staph infection) and just gave me 10 pills... i did some research and i really think my doctor needs to give me a good dose...Again i never had any sinus issues and i am 63 ... A few months ago i went to walk in clinic and doctor gave me predsone and amoxicllin which almost worked...but it did not kill all the bacteria and currently its been at its worst... I really think my ent is not giving me good meds to kill this...thats why i asked you about what you took for bad sinus infection before the nose op... thanks
@@roadstar499 prednisone and amoxicillin. Or prednisone and a z pack.
@@cturboaddict Ok thats what worked the first time and i felt 80% better..than it came back...i took them for 10 days....can you remember how long you did it for??? and did infection completely die... or come right back? thanks again...i know everyone has different issues, but understanding and knowing what gets results for others really helps me deal with this...pretty much i am a complete novice to sinus issues... It pretty much seemed to come out of covid ...thanks
@@roadstar499 in the past (when I had the chronic sinitus) there were times where I had to take it twice.
He ate a peanut butter jelly sandwich.
I sure did
How do you feel now? Did it help in the long run?
@HarisKohi yes, helped in the long run. Not perfect, bit nowhere what it used to be.
@@cturboaddictthanks brother, I might need this procedure soon. I personally use honey instead of jelly in my P&J and almost always with tea.
Do you have an update on how you are feeling and if it was worth it
Search my name. I did 24hrs, 1 month, 3 month, and 10 month updates.
How much did it cost?
My insurance covered it. Had to get it approved first. Only paid my deductible.
@@cturboaddict How much would it be without insurance?
How do you feel now? Do you still feel like it was worth it?
Yes
I’m supposed to get this done Tuesday and then Wednesday I had a trip planned already, it’s a 17 hour drive. Wondering if I should consider postponing and recover at home. I would love your thought based on your experience.
Everyone recovers different. I would give yourself 24 hours if possible. That's me though, I really needed to rest for about 24 hours. The drainage needs to happen. The 17 hours of drive time if you're resting will help. But you'll still have some drainage.
@@cturboaddict I may just postpone my procedure until I get back. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Your video was very helpful and informative.
@@stephanielopez9575 I've got vids from 24hrs, 1/2/3 months after. I'm glad I did the procedure, but you should always allow time to heal. Enjoy your trip, and don't stress about the procedure, it's very simple
