In 1985, Bowser made his first appearance in the Mushroom Kingdom as the main antagonist in the Mario Bros. franchise. Since then, he has regularly kidnapped Princess Peach which, in turn, has led Mario and his brother, Luigi, on various adventures throughout the Kingdom in order to free Princess Peach from Bowser’s clutches and return peace to the people of Mushroom Kingdom. From evading turtles to jumping over pools of hot lava, Mario and his brother will go to any means necessary in order to save the beloved Princess Peach.
The mere fact that Bowser and his many Koopaling children have spent the majority of their lives kidnapping Princess Peach and wreaking havoc on the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom would lead any sane individual to believe that he’s clearly the villain in this franchise, but is there more to the Bowser’s story than that?
Players are only privy to the perspectives of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and, sometimes, Toad. While The Gamer clearly does not condone building elaborate castles and kidnapping those who have wronged you, perhaps there is more to the story than we’re aware of. After all, Bowser is clearly a facet of the Mario Bros. lives and if he really were the big bad threat in this story, would they still continue to allow him behind the wheel of a kart all while arming him with blue turtle shells and banana peels? What possesses him to obsessively kidnap the Princess and what does he stand to gain from it? - เกม
I say Bowser is misunderstood. Think about it, he NEVER HAD a normal childhood to our knowledge, so he could be COMPLETELY misunderstood.

Bowser isn’t bad.
He’s a villain, yes.
That’s because he knows being a villain is what makes us happy.
Playing game after game.
He knows us dunking him in lava brings joy and cheer and as he falls, he can only smile himself, knowing he made a lot of people smile.

Plus, i've always seen it as a sort of Koopa mating ritual. Trying to show off strength and cleverness and the lengths he's willing to go to protect his love. All of them know this, which is why none of them show any enmity towards each other
what about when people lose and get frustrated tho lol. especially in the oldest games. Also that wouldn't be the case anyway, if anything it's Nintendo doing that and not Bowser. Bowser would simply take the power if he could.

Ever since playing Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story, I always thought Bowser was just a misunderstood character. He can be sweet, but he's short-tempered and doesn't know how to handle his emotions, so everyone sees him as a rampaging monster. I love Bowser and I hope the future games give him more character development!

See... Bowser's not bad all the time. Heck he's sometimes willing to put differences aside and and works with Mario and I've even seen Mario and the crew get along with him. Like at the end of Mario Party DS. They let him join in on a game of Triangle Twisters.
Bowser is a big lug and just wants to be your BFF. He just loves to act tough for Peach or Mario. Bowser is awesome and so adorable. :D

Mario is LITERALLY in a claustrophobic staircase with no windows in sight.
On a side note, that was Peach's castle. He just cast a spell on that staircase to stop you from going up there.
Bowser is BEST DAD I mean Nintendo used him and bowser jr. for the parental controls for the wiiu and switch.

I mean he might not be the best dad. But his behavior in Paper Jam after you beat the heck out of the two Bowser Jr's does show that he cares. He gets so angry, that he gives up on kidnapping peach and flat out destroys princess peach's castle with a cannonball, and another one being planned to hit and destroy all the rest of it even while she and paper peach were inside. That alone should at least show that He has some emotion for his offspring.

I feel sorry for Bowser. He wasn't always bad. Maybe he really did had a bad past and Kamek raised him. Maybe Bowser was abandoned as a child. Each villain can show care and soft spot, even though they won't show it easily. Bowser helped Mario in some games, which is a big surprise for some fans. When I was little, I didn't understood why villains helped heroes, but now when you get older, you may understand why. I believe that Bowser is just depressed and wants attention, heck maybe even friendship and love! I also feel sorry for the Koopalings because they don't have a mother. I know that a lot of fans are asking what happened to the mother. Did she abandoned the Koopalings and Bowser because for a reason? Nintendo needs to make some games about Bowser.
Also since Nintendo does have a plan to make an animation movie of Mario, I'm very excited. Also Bowser is my favorite villain from Mario serie.

When Bowser says stuff like, "I'm 100% final boss!", or "I will rule the universe", it makes it pretty easy to figure out his goals. Especially with being able to see from his perspective in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.

Great video! Bowser is a villain, because he kidnaps Peach. Taking someone against their will is a villainous act. I agree Bowser is misunderstood, and that he never got the chance to grow up. I believe Kamek is the true villain, while Bowser is actually a pawn. Kamek probably believed that he could raise Bowser, a powerful koopa, and have his loyalty in adulthood. In doing so Kamek's "parenting" resulted in raising a rebellious monster that takes what he wants, but also believes he deserves better than the lonely, loveless life he got.
Bowser just wants to be loved.
What I think is that seeing as peach never seems to make any attempt at escape after “kidnapping”, she really doesn’t mind being captured that much, and in fact really enjoys her time with Bowser. He of course does everything he can to make her stay comfortable so he can have someone around longer (which is also why he picks her up in the first place, because he’s lonely). And then Mario comes in and “saves the day”, after which she also seems happy to see him. So peach enjoys two guys company, and one of them is pitched as a villain? I think some villains wear pink dresses...
(Also this video is fairly similar to another one I saw, but that’s a side point; I just wanted to let you know that your five finger discount was showing ;p)

I like Bowser so much, it's kinda sad how tragic his life can be at times: Doesn't know real parents, raised by magical psychopath, father trying to find a mother for his only son and (in my view) 7 adopted children, constantly getting beat up by a normal-ish guy, and only really wants attention and a family. Think about that next time you send Bowser plummeting into some nice hot lava.

I first fell in love with Bowsers character in the Legend of the Seven Stars SMRPG. He was a dynamic character then and fought for good. Bowsers Inside Story is another great game and example for Bowser dynamic character.
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the rpg Bowser’s Inside Story. Pretty concrete example of Bowser being one of the good guys/ a protagonist in the game. Sure, there’s conflict with Mario, but in the end, Bowser fights for the good side.

I think for 1, the way I think is that Bowser is the type of character who prides himself in raw strength and usually leaves things like switches around as something to use to dispose of his opposers once he's done beating them up. In the RPGs, Bowser's lines and personality fit this idea pretty well, and he does say at the very least he's willing to beat up anyone who stands in his way.

Canonically, there are only 7 humans living in the mushroom kingdom. 4 of them are not even from there. (2-4, depending on Wario and Waluigi, are from Italy) And the remaining 3 are royalty. That indicates that humans are not native to the mushroom kingdom but rather foreign invaders and conquerors.
Bowser is rightful King of the Koopas and he is supported by the Gumbas, who are mushrooms just like the Toads.

I don't see the contradiction here. They clearly have both Italian accents, Italian names and look like stereotypical Italians.
They can be born in the Mushroom Kingdom and still technically be from Italy, as they would still be considered Italian citizens if their Parents were Italians and never received proper citizenship in the Mushroom Kingdom, despite living there for years. The Parents of Mario and Luigi not having proper Citizenship in the Mushroom Kingdom further suggests that humans only recently colonized the Mushroom Kingdoms Dimension, and therefore proper Citizenship for the Mushroom Kingdom might not have existed back then, as it was not considered independent from their homelands on earth yet. (And if it was an international colony, that might really be plural)

Poor guy just wants a lady around for his kid and adopted kids, but Mario keeps messing it up. Why not just let Peach reside at Koopa King Castle, it could be like Beauty and the Beast!
My headcanon is that, while originally he despised Mario and Peach, he became friends with Peach and empathized with her after she was being nice to his son. So now Bowser just plays heel along with Peach in order to motivate Mario enough to settle down with Peach, stop adventuring and consuming hallucigenic shrooms. Everyone has settled down except Mario: Bowser is a trillionaire architect and real estate developer, Peach is a monarch and landscape designer, Luigi is a successful horror writer and lives with Daisy most of the time, Wario is a conman and Waluigi is his lawyer keeping him out of jail.
Everyone but Mario has stable careers and have stop taking drugs since the mid-90s, only Mario likes getting high every day and trek to the woods while tripping on his "adventures". Peach believes all he needs is to be motivated enough to finally marry her and goes to Bowser under the pretense to being kidnapped to force him to be sober for a little while and "rescue" her, while Bowser is comforting her while both drink tea and pastries all afternoons chatting. Bowser just doesn't have the heart to tell her Mario is far too gone nor he has the coldness to put Mario to rest, and thus continues to play heel as the other two keep struggling with their relationship, and tries to steer Bowser Jr. away from Krazy Kamek's grandpa shenanigans.
All in all, _Bowser is a pretty upstanding bloke._
I still like the theory that the main Mario games are stage performances (the backdrops in old games having screws in them, for example), and that the actors are buddies who play sports with each other in their free time.
Maybe Bowser likes lava bath,so he let Mario reach the axe or button to destroy the bridge,then Bowser can have a lava bath

I’m all for playing devil’s advocate, (confusing, considering I’m an atheist,) but if Bowser didn’t intend to kill Mario, he may be a *bit* more reluctant to:
1. Spit fireballs at him.
2. Launch homing missiles (red bullet bills) at him.
3. Literally send an army after him.
4. Violently crush the walls of castles Mario is in.
5. Hire wedding planners to kill him (in the upcoming game).
But perhaps he only does all that knowing that Mario will succeed anyway.
After all, why are the levels in Mario games in increasing order of difficulty? I mean, sure, the “real life” answer is that it simply makes sense for a video game, but an in-game explanation could be that Bowser is gauging Mario’s skills.

I always had the idea that Bowser lives in his own kingdom next door to the mushroom kingdom. I mean that's why he's a king without being any relation to Peach. So what he's really after is not so much the Princess, as it is dominion over her kingdom. Lying about Bowser Jr. being Peach's child as well as his could have been quite the set up for his son to inherit BOTH kingdoms in the future, if the lie hadn't been quite so obvious anyway! LOL

I know why bowser has those buttons, it’s because he thinks that if he comes before Mario on the button Mario would fall
