10 ways Luigi is secretly better than Mario! It’s very easy to overlook Luigi. Since his debut on Nintendo’s Mario Bros. in 1983, Luigi has been Mario’s sidekick. When Mario is on an adventure Luigi is often nowhere to be seen unless it is a two player game. From his physical differences to his personality, there are qualities of Luigi that make him a better character than Mario. It’s hard to believe that Luigi was just a simple palette swap of Mario at first, but over the years he has evolved into a character of his own. Most of us see Luigi as an emotional coward who lives in the shadow of his brother Mario, but just because Luigi is not as brave and confident as Mario doesn’t make him a worse character. Luigi had to wait until Luigi’s Mansion for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2001 to finally get his face plastered on the front of a game and he made the most of his opportunity. Luigi has come a long way from his humble beginnings so we are celebrating his journey in this video!

People tend to forget that the Bros in the Mario title means 'brothers', that the game is about both brothers, not just Mario.
Their family name is 'Mario', the elder brother was named after the family, making Mario's full name 'Mario Mario' and Lugi's 'Luigi Mario'.

Finally someone is sticking up for Luigi. I truly think that Luigi is the greatest Mario character. My ex-friend said he disliked Luigi for being a coward. That's not a reason to dislike him. He may be a coward, but he is able to overcome his fear, and save his brother. Another reason I like Luigi is that he normally is an overall better version of Mario in terms of statistics. He jumps higher and runs quicker then Mario, but has less traction. I think Luigi is an amazing character, and very much greater then Mario

I like Luigi, Yoshi, and toad,
You know how I said Luigi is one of my favorite characters? Well, Mario is one of my LEAST favorite characters in the Mario series. This is basically because Mario is just a dull and balanced character with nothing special about him. Everything Mario does, Luigi does better. Another reason I dislike him is because he is a jerk to Luigi. The true reason why everyone loves Mario is because he is the mascot of Nintendo and is the true character of the Mario series though I don't think these are reasons why people should love him. Overall, I just view Mario has a more dull, less interesting, boring version of Luigi
The reason Luigi is so great, is because, no matter how much credit Mario gets, he loves his brother.

An other reason, Mario is trained, has experiance and practice, Luigi can do the same feats with no training, less experience and even less practice.
There seems to be a new trend going on where people are saying that Mario is a bad guy and saying Luigi is better then Mario. This really annoys me. It seems like every youtuber is just saying "oh, Mario doesn't love his brother" this is completely false. You can see in several games that he loves his brother. Sure he overshadows him, but he has saved Luigi a lot in these games. You have my dislike.

I feel that there is a difference between the two words ‘courage’ and ‘bravery’. Although Mario may be courageous in the regard that he does not falter in the face of danger and when the odds are stacked against him, Luigi is weak and afraid. Luigi comes across things that scare him, frighten him, terrify him. Every sense in his body tells him to run and hide yet in spite of this, in spite of feeling helpless, fear and the lack of hope, Luigi never gives up, he never backs down, although he may be trembling, he faces his fears because he loves his brother more than anything else even though he knows full well that he lives in his brother’s shadow. Being brave doesn’t mean not being afraid of anything. Being brave means being afraid but instead of running, you face your fears.
Mario may be courageous and confident and Luigi may be weak and afraid, but he is also noble, loyal and brave.
I see what you mean but the thing about Luigi is that he still isn't a character. Yes, he does always face his fears and always saves his brother, but he still will always be scared. Since he isn't a complex character, he will still always stick to that one character trait just like Mario. He will never get any development in his character because he will always just be the scared character. That's why I just don't like either of them better. I also don't really understand why people think that Luigi is more of a character because one day he would be the normal fearful Luigi, another day he just acts like Mario or does the same exact thing as him.
