Now in Mario Oddessey, if Pauline asked who was Mario, he would say Mario. Not knowing Jumpman is his last name,she would not know him.

There are multiple theories that Bowser Jr is actually not Bowsers son, but actually past Bowser himself.
I think the Kooplings are nieces and nephews. One of them is named Morton Koopa Jr. which indicates that he has a dad named Morton Koopa Sr.. If he's not Bowser's son, he's at least related to him and the most logical answer is that he's a nephew. Apply that logic to all of the Kooplings and they are nieces and nephews. After all, we have no evidence that Bowser is an only child. What if Morton is Bowser's brother?
