Very worthy notes taken here. Thank you for posting, this is saving my elder parents thousands of dollars in roof repairs. As a commercial Electrician - I feel confident tackling this job due to your skill sharing.
Good video. I built houses one season a lifetime ago. They all ended with roofing but I never even thought about repairing a hole until it happened. I feel stoked and confident now. Climbing up in the morning.
Genius!! The extra effort with starter strips and sandwiching should prevent leaks that happen so often around vents, rather than relying on cement that ages long before shingles do. I am a licensed general contractor and gained knowledge from this!!!
Thank you so much for making this detailed video, you did such a good job. We have a leak on our porch roof and I was so stressed out about it but this video calmed me right down about it! I especially appreciate you reminding people to give themselves time so they aren't stressed and rushing. Thanks again!
Wow that’s a professional job done with absolute pride..Your craftsmanship is terrific as well as doing correct the first time.you must have apprenticed for years..Roofing is easier said than done and I can tell you know your stuff Congrats and knowledge is power💪🏼
Nice video. In 2007 i shingled my own roof for 1,900. Now i have a water leak and getting quotes of 12,000 to redo roof. I'm tempted to attempt again but hard to find a helper. Can't believe the huge increase in price. Wished you lived near me in Florida! Very nice job and excellent pro tips.
Excellent video. VERY thorough and perfect pace. I do not like the videos that move too fast and skip over details because they're second nature to the contractor. Most people watching these videos aren't pros so we need every detail and tips. This video provides all of that. I learned so much. Thank you!
Best instructional roof video ever. Invaluable information. I just bought a house cash on a short sale that I couldn't pass up but it's left me with little for repairs so I must successfully repair the roof myself. Thanks for the help!
I came here looking to see how to patch a section of decking. I got that and also refreshed my memory of installing an attic vent. Plus got some excellent PRO tips, cutting, sealing, etc. WELL DONE, SIR!!! I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
I did this today. The installation was pretty easy thanks to this video! Thank You! The hardest part was taking the old shingles off. The shingles in your video seem to pull apart quite easy. Mine were bonded together. This made pushing it up and getting to the nails quite a pain. It was hard work but I managed to teach myself how to pry apart the shingles without tearing the shingles on the uphill side. A learning experience. I would like to see you do a video on how you separate welded/bonded shingles. Thanks!
I have to fix a shingle roof on a building my grandfather built in the 90's. A tree fell on it, made 2 ~10" holes and has been leaking through. I was debating on adding a vent and I feel your video sealed the deal. 😂 Vent it is.
I agree with Gary Brosz, this is the best DIY roofing video, its one of the best IY videos done. Thank yo for taking the time and the effort. It will help me tremendously to do my roof repair almost exactly like this except without the vent replacement.
Hi. Very professional job and excellent edition video. On the future I am going to keep watching your videos and if I have any issue with my home, I will ask You. Thank You so much. :DAV:D
You can do it! Feel free to call with any questions or concerns. We'd be happy to help in any way we can. You guys have the best roofer in your corner.
Seriously. We just put our home on the market and two days later we had a leak. We were both freaking out. I searched and searched and then BAM! You're the man! Can't thank you enough!
Your welcome! Feel free to also call we are here to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. (FaceTime, phone call...) central time zone #Pflugerville, Tx
Amazing informative video. Thank you for taking the time to make & post these videos. Am going to review many more of your posted videos. You do a great job of explaining the steps. With your explanation and tips I do have the confidence I needed to tackle a roof repair myself. Thank you again.
Excellent how-to video! You're at the top of your profession. Whatever state you're in, I can't imagine businesses or homeowners using anyone other than your company to fix or build thier roof.👍🥇🏆
LOVE this video. Looking forward to checking them all out! Not suggesting there is fault in the video when i say -> screws are great for plywood. Ive found better at correcting for uneven studs/ joists. Firms up entire roof, imo in a good way but i could see how maybe faint wiggle from nails was needed to not crack interor drywall. Also holds well to beeswax or tar, and easy to dip and zip. easy to push below surface and fill, and still easy to remove, vs covering nails.
Very clear video and nicely explained. You are a Godsend. Thank you for helping us. This is a project that I want to do myself, but I want to make sure I know what I am doing. Your videos are the best.
I'm just an average joe, wannabe handyman (Very curious in other word's) but willing to learn. Pointing out common mistakes & obstacles is a big plus. Reusing Clips vs Hoarding a bag for just a few pieces definitely a money saver. 👍 Thank you for a well Detailed Video 👌 and YES I watched from start to Finish. 🤓
Thanks good job. This is the job I have to do. I have a smaller vent close by. I won’t have to cut the ply wood hole for the vent but I will have to remove the shingles around it. I’m in prep mode to make the job as fast as I can. You do really good work. I’ve helped put a roof on. We didn’t have any nail guns. It’s like doing electrical have every tool ready to go to make this job as fast as possible. Preparation is key. I don’t want a hole in my roof for a long time.
Fantastic video sir perfect pro tips Your choice of music is interesting. I like it I'm almost ready to tackle my project. I think 98 degrees is a bit too hot for my old self to get up there today😉 & it's 5 o'clock somewhere 😊 Thanks again
I have to remove an old metal chimney that is no longer connected to anything and re-roof over the top of it. A simpler job than this, but this video was extremely helpful. I appreciate your step by step descriptions and your clear speaking voice. I was a little confused by the protective starter shingle, but you showed later what you meant by that. I also liked seeing how and how much seal you used. Thanks!
EXCELLENT VIDEO, very impressed with your THOROUGH AND EXTREMELY ORGANIZED PROCESS of repair. Because I can’t do the repair myself I have to hire a roof contractor and I I needed to understand what would be the right way to replace damaged part of roof - which is cathedral ceiling where mold stains marked the leaking roof. Would you recommend to open the entire section of roof to see the extension of insulation damage? Not sure that rotten plywood is the only thing that needs to be replaced…THANK YOU AGAIN FOR HELPING PEOPLE!!!❤
@@AurumRoofing Thanks! That was indeed relevant. A fun twist I have is ... no attic access! So I'll have to assemble the duct onto the vent while on the roof. At least its a shallow pitch. Got that in my favor. Thanks again!
Awesome video! Thanks so much for your time. You made it look easy. I know it isn't for us first timers, but it explained a lot. And definitely helped me avoid a serious headache. 👍😘
The roof fan should be nailed directly onto the roof wood not nailed onto shingles . You can nail this 3 ways. : 1 ) Nail the fan directly onto the roof . 2 ) Roll silicone paint on the roof with 2 coats - make sure the 1st coat is dry before applying the 2nd coat . Nail the roof fan onto the roof over the silicone painted area .Make sure the the silicone is painted 3 inches past the roof fan flashing and use neoprene washer shank nails on the flashing . 3 ) Put synthetic underlayment on the roof and nail underlayment and cut the circle out for fan exhaust hole . Nail neoprene washer shank nails into the roof fan flange . Make sure you put another synthetic underlayment over the fan flange that is exposed by cutting a O out of it with a slit at the bottom on the downward slope ( straight cut from the fan tunnel toward the roof edge so water will flow to the downward slope . This slit should be 1 / 4 to 1 / 2 inch wide to let water flow downward to roofs edge . Make sure their is underlayment the entirel length of the slit or you will have a roof leak . Lay synthetic underlayment on rest of exposed wood and nail it down . Make sure you are running underlayment up the roof to the highest part of the roof . Put next underlayment 3 inches over the previous underlayment . The next row of underlayment should always be tucked under the next underlayment 3 inches . Nail NEW shingles onto roof . REMEMBER YOU ARE NAILING NEW SHINGLES FROM EDGE OF ROOF TO HIGHEST POINT OF THE ROOF . Good luck .
Very worthy notes taken here. Thank you for posting, this is saving my elder parents thousands of dollars in roof repairs. As a commercial Electrician - I feel confident tackling this job due to your skill sharing.
Methodical & thorough & detailed. Outstanding 👍.
THIS ROOF LOOKED IN SUCH GOOD SHAPE THAT IT IS SURPRISING THAT IT WAS REPLACED!
Sometimes the lack of workmanship can cause even the newest roofs to fail. It's very important to hire someone who knows what they're doing.
Good video. I built houses one season a lifetime ago. They all ended with roofing but I never even thought about repairing a hole until it happened. I feel stoked and confident now. Climbing up in the morning.
I'm no roofer but I like your attention to detail and the way you teach. Thank you.
As a woman. You thoroughly and professional explained and showed exactly what to do and you made it look so simple. Thank you. Awesome video 👏
You are very welcome.
I'm a woman too
I rebuild a 3000 sq. ft
building but never repaired my roof
Wish I had seen this sooner!
So what you are implying is women can't understand roofing work.
As a former roofing salesman for 5 years, this was a very informative video for the consumer!!
awesome video - goes into the details!
Best roof repair video I have seen. Excellent job, covers everything I needed to know for my repair. Thanks for this work.
