    I've been having a hard time finding a contractor that is willing to install a roof vent cap to connect to the 6 inch range hood duct already installed in the attic. Just found a sheet metal company that gave me a quote. However, the quote referenced a "roof jack". I've never heard of it so research lead me to your video. May I ask, what the difference is between a roof jack and the more low profile vent caps. Does the roof jack prevent birds, critters, or insects from getting inside?

    LOVE this video. Looking forward to checking them all out! Not suggesting there is fault in the video when i say -> screws are great for plywood. Ive found better at correcting for uneven studs/ joists. Firms up entire roof, imo in a good way but i could see how maybe faint wiggle from nails was needed to not crack interor drywall. Also holds well to beeswax or tar, and easy to dip and zip. easy to push below surface and fill, and still easy to remove, vs covering nails.

    Hi! What roofing caulk would you recommend for using in Houston? Is there any product on the market that won't dry out, crack and shrivel too quickly on a hot Texas asphalt shingle roof? I am looking at resealing vent flashing, their exposed nails, as well as securing down the parameter of roof edges to minimize first course shingles blow off from strong winds. Your expertise is greatly appreciated!

    So how do you remove shingles that were installed on top of Ice & Water shield. I've tried to remove some shingles and the top half of each shingle is in contact with the roof which has I&W shield, and as I'm sure you are aware the shingle is now bonded like its grown to the I&W. If you know of a technique to remove the shingle from the I&W I will be eternally grateful. Thanks and be safe up there.

    • @AurumRoofing
      @AurumRoofing 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is not an easy way. You would have to peal the ice and water shield off the plywood. Ice and water shield is easiest to remove in hotter temperatures.

    I’ve always questioned spray foam for this reason. If a 2 inch wide vent was placed linear on a gable roof soffit with a 2 inch thick air gap between the roof rafters all the way to the ridge with a vent. Would that be adequate for ventilating shingles? (2x2 on each side of the roof rafter with a 7/16 osb nailed to separate the foam from the roof decking.) Just a thought I had, because Owen’s Corning sells the vented pieces that go from the soffit to a vented attic, so when installing attic ceiling insulation it doesn’t block air flow.

    spray only increase roof temp by 2.7% compared to shingle color which increase the roof temp about 30% and I bet this dude has no problem selling black tomdark grey shingles. Plus the spray foam creates a studier roof reducing deflection and bowing under heat and since it cools the attic the shingles even on the north facing roof get nearly as hot as the south facing shingle if they're a dark color, plus you house gets hotter andd you spend more for cooling. this dude really needs an education

    I got some issues with your video, You dont show the underside of the roof, what the roof decking is. So we are taking your word about the sprayfoam that is actually sprayed on the roof decking. Now around the 5:35 mark you say the attic was supposed to have attic ventilation then go right and say the attic is supposed to be sealed against any air intake or exhaust, so which is it. Now you might be saying you want a vented attic which brings air from the soffit vents and out the ridge vent. Most attics are getting in the 130 degree range so where is the savings for the shingle there. the sun is baking it from the top and the ambient heat from the attic is baking it from below, at least with Sprayfoam the attic is conditioned and its not baking from below. The sun is doing the majority of the damage to your shingles and not foam. Funny how the shingle manufactures are also Foam Manufacturers as well. Certainteed and Owens Corning have Foam, When they come out and say dont use our product on roofs then i would believe it.

    30 years of spraying foam to the underside of roof decks, not one problem regardless of 3-tab or architectural, or metal. You roofers are always looking to void a warranty . Texas is a high wind state, 3-tab should be banned there. I live in the real world and also look at many studies regarding the effectiveness of spray foam. Your real world view is an advertisement to get business through scare tactics.
