Here a few things about brawl and Meta Knight : - The main reason people played or pick up Meta Knight was because of ICs - ICs countered/neutralize literally the entire cast cuz you only need one grab and it’s chain grab and it lead to stupid stall battles - MK is the only character that counters hard ICs , so eventually people have to pick up MK if they wanna beat ICs - Furthermore more characters can beat MK such as Marth , Falco , ZSS , Olimar , Snake , Pikachu , Diddy Kong and more can go toe to toe with MK. Problem is that all of them get shutdown by ICs. - I would even say Icies was the main problem that lead to Meta Knight popularity.
MK was completely dominant, with ban discussions being centered around him, before people mastered icies. Before icies were a problem. It actually took a while before popo and Nana were meta. I remember reading debates fairly late into brawl's life from people who claimed that icies would never fulfill their potential, because their combos "straddled the line of human capability." I remember being surprised when people broke that barrier and made icies truly cancerous. It was big news. And all this during a time where every character's placement on the tier list was determined by how well they did against Meta Knight. So no, Meta Knight was definitely the main problem. It's just that if he wasn't, icies would be. The game had two major problems. Along with tripping.
It's not even that they "picked up" MK. the character is so broken a brick could mash buttons and win with him. Every player just picked up a controller and boom god tier

Dededee is the only character in any fighting game that legitimately has a 100-0 matchup. The matchup is so ridiculously bad that, if two players of equal skill fought, Dededee would win every single time without fail. And he has more then 1. He was truly the low tier slayer.
Competative game aside, gliding with Meta Knight and Pit was a blast. Super OP recovery, but when you're not taking the game seriously or playing Sub-Space Emissary, covering that much space a simple 360 stick rotation was my favorite unique mechanic in that game.
I would buy the mario kart dlc because it looks like a really fun time with lots of value. These videos are my favorite! Can’t wait for a potential reaction to the melee and 64 ones
Dapuffster and his "Brawl Tutorial Video" was my introduction to the concept of "competitive Smash Bros" as a casual player and I have learned many techniques/strategies from it!
I honestly absolutely love brawl, was my first smash game and i still own it to this day. If I had that eShop card I would buy Xenoblade 3 or probably Bayonetta 3 when they come out xD
When I was 8 years old, when I went to my cousins house we played brawl every now and then and I knew nothing about the game but I had a lot of fun. Now I have ultimate and I see this game and think how the fuck was this ever okay
I would say even more absurd than MK's Uair coming out on Frame 2, which is absurd, was that it *ended* on Frame 13. Meaning the second Uair came out on (essentially) Frame 15. Also, as someone who's only foray into Smash tourneys was during Brawl and attended a few Apexes, I always appreciated seeing Hbox showing visible hype for Brawl matches at those tourneys. Obviously, no one *had* to enjoy playing/watching Brawl, but with so much venom directed toward SSBB from SSBM players at the time (and some also directed back), it was refreshing to have a top, primarily Melee player also get excited by seeing top players face off in our game.
Random fun fact: DACUS made it into Smash 4 at launch, but was sadly patched out in version 1.0.4. It was patched out so early on that the Wii U version had yet to release!
Brawl has a special place in my heart. At the time it was the smash I'd played the most and I have a lot of fond, and frustrating, memories of this absolute mess of a game.
I have a friend who I commonly fight in brawl. I main Ganon and he mains MK. It's the worst experience I can ever imagine. For the card giveaway, I'd likely buy Ultimate and a DLC character.
Apparently snakes up tilt is like that because his model was supposed to be bigger. Which btw would’ve been funny because his head would be like in the battlefield platform.
In brawl some of the best characters to fight meta knight were Marth, Pikachu, and Ice Climbers. They weren’t winning match ups, but Pika had an infinite, so did icies, and Marth had grab release into dair (which only worked on mk). However that made the game plan revolve around grabs, or pikas up b on the ground, and the ground isn’t something that mattered to mk.
Quick story on snake in brawl his model was supposed to be bigger but they went with a smaller model so the hitboxes carried over to the smaller model probably because of time
I don't know if this is 100% true, but there was speculation that the reason why Snakes up-tilt in brawl was that massive was because he was being designed originally as a big body, like around Ganon size, but something happened that might've caused him to get a smaller body, but they forgot to adjust his hitboxes as a result.
He's already very close to Ganon size, and that wouldn't explain the up tilt hitbox if he was as big. If he was even bigger, he would look ridiculous. Along with that, none of his other moves have this issue. My best guess is that they were either worried about the move not having a good range so they overcompensated or the original animation had him fully extend his leg out but they changed it because it looked odd.
NGL, I got the game on a midnight release and played all night with my buddies. I immediately noticed how Meta Knight was easy to play, and I picked him up and never put him down.
I will say, brawl being INCREDIBLY slow in terms of having so much recovery, etc, made it really fun from an extremely casual perspective, especially with characters like Lucario that could actually use it and scale rather than being stuck dying at 60%. Obvs not amazing for competition but it could be braindead fun.
I definitely enjoyed watching these "broken" videos of Smash when Heew uploaded these when they did. I'm sure the Ultimate ones will have some badly aged parts, with the updates that patched out silly things, like infinites as they get discovered. Or maybe some never got patched out as they forgotten them, who knows. Now if I had the $100 eshop gift card, it would definitely be used to buy whatever game is left on my wishlist. And perhaps some DLC on the 3ds and Wii U games while I'm at it.
"Brawl is Broken" is one of my favorite Smash Bros videos in general. If I had $100, I'd probably buy some DLCs I want like the Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 8 ones, and some games I'd like to play on the go.
Brawl was the very first Smash Bros game I got. I got it for Christmas in 2015. Fast forward to late 2019 to early 2020 and I hear about other Smash Bros games. Now thanks to Brawl I'm a good player.
with the eshop card I would Buy kirby forgotten land and Nintendo switch sports, both coming from the new direct which I have been anticipating for a long time.
This is how you play Brawl: You can pick any character, if you; stand still, crouch, walk, attack, jump or grab ledge. You're automatically DQ'd!! You can only run, first player to "Trip" WINS the set!
For the gift card: If I won the card, might just have to pre-order Switch Sports. Been eyeballing the game since it’s announcement and it actually seems to play pretty well. I missed the server test, but I’ve heard good things from people who participated. Also, to be relevant to the video, I got into smash pretty much after Smash 4’s release, so I never really played much of Brawl except for one or two times with a friend of mine that brought the game over, but it was all Smash 4 and Ultimate from there.

64/melee players thought it was glacial; Brawl players thought it was *blazing.*
"DO YOU REALLY NED TWO BANANAS???"
Dededee is the only character in any fighting game that legitimately has a 100-0 matchup. The matchup is so ridiculously bad that, if two players of equal skill fought, Dededee would win every single time without fail. And he has more then 1. He was truly the low tier slayer.
What about Ice Climbers up against Ganondorf?
I would love to see him react to both Melee is Broken videos
100% beleive is doing them all
1:35 I know Mockrock has already said this, but you do know you main Jigglypuff in melee, right?
I honestly absolutely love brawl, was my first smash game and i still own it to this day.
If I had that eShop card I would buy Xenoblade 3 or probably Bayonetta 3 when they come out xD
2:48 that laugh gets me every time😂
When I was 8 years old, when I went to my cousins house we played brawl every now and then and I knew nothing about the game but I had a lot of fun.
Now I have ultimate and I see this game and think how the fuck was this ever okay
The only redeeming things about brawl is the character roster and subspace emissary
I’d probably buy mythra so I can finally be good at the game
Pyra and Mythra, not just Mythra. Pyra and Mythra as separate characters are high tier; together they are Top Tier.

POV you're at an optometrist and HBox is letting you try out different lenses.
Man, Brawl was and still is a good game. I enjoyed it, when Sonic was in, it was wild. But man, brawl was Crazy from the looks of it.
Imagine flying across the globe to lose a brawl tournament in grand finals because of tripping.
I have to go back now! I never knew his cape move could be infinite!
Same here
Random fun fact: DACUS made it into Smash 4 at launch, but was sadly patched out in version 1.0.4. It was patched out so early on that the Wii U version had yet to release!
Whats funny about snakes up tilt is that the move actually attacks before snake even fully lifts up his leg.
New kirby game, he has a gun, he can duel wield, dodge roll, and stop time. He’s even a car now. He’s like the Rock with how many things he’s doing
2:01 I never noticed it
Brawl has a special place in my heart. At the time it was the smash I'd played the most and I have a lot of fond, and frustrating, memories of this absolute mess of a game.
*The community: Wavedash was removed in Brawl*
*Diddy: Hold on my glide-tossing*
My online ran out so I'm going to use the money on that, then I'm probably going to see if I can get some games on my wishlist.
I have a friend who I commonly fight in brawl. I main Ganon and he mains MK. It's the worst experience I can ever imagine.
For the card giveaway, I'd likely buy Ultimate and a DLC character.
Just remember that someone beat a Meta Knight as Ganondorf in an OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT
Meta Knight is the most elaborate pun ever.
Hungrybox- There’s gonna a whole section for Meta Knight.
Thanks for the unexpected foreshadowing!
Apparently snakes up tilt is like that because his model was supposed to be bigger. Which btw would’ve been funny because his head would be like in the battlefield platform.
No joke I literally played Gone Guru while watching this because of how much PTSD Brawl can give someone with how broken it is
I just realized something.
A down tilt that comes out at Frame 3 and can cause tripping?
That describes R.O.B.'s to the letter.
You know a character is broken af when they get their own section in the video
In brawl some of the best characters to fight meta knight were Marth, Pikachu, and Ice Climbers. They weren’t winning match ups, but Pika had an infinite, so did icies, and Marth had grab release into dair (which only worked on mk). However that made the game plan revolve around grabs, or pikas up b on the ground, and the ground isn’t something that mattered to mk.
Quick story on snake in brawl his model was supposed to be bigger but they went with a smaller model so the hitboxes carried over to the smaller model probably because of time
"Was the term 'meta" even a thing before Brawl?" in the chat @ 10:54. Never change Smash players, never change.
2:26 I would buy Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright because the 3DS eShop is closing soon and it's very expensive to buy it second hand
I immediately noticed how Meta Knight was easy to play, and I picked him up and never put him down.
a brawl tournament with no mk and no chain grab allowed would be perfect
With the e-shop card I would get the new Kirby game and the Mario Kart DLC
Every roguelike I can find. Can't get enough of em.
"Brawl is Broken" is one of my favorite Smash Bros videos in general. If I had $100, I'd probably buy some DLCs I want like the Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 8 ones, and some games I'd like to play on the go.
Meta Knight was the only character I'd use the Wiimote and nunchuck with. Swinging it around as I hit those multi hit moves
He's called Meta Knight for a reason
This is how you play Brawl:
You can pick any character, if you; stand still, crouch, walk, attack, jump or grab ledge.
You're automatically DQ'd!!
You can only run, first player to "Trip" WINS the set!
The word Meta is literally in his name 😂
I'd love to pick up some DLC with Eshop credit. Mostly for Hyrule Warriors. I'd also preorder the new FE Warriors.
Ices, meta knight, tripping, AND snakes up tilt
