  • Yesterday(please see my video from yesterday) FSD 12.3.2.1 did not recognize a road closure sign!
Today, it surprised me by stopping... then doing something else entirely! See what happened and what it means for the future of self-driving cars!

Surprised it did not read the "Road Closed" sign. Cannot miss that. You are probably not the only one. If it happens often enough, it will be on Tesla's priority list.

💯 Tesla needs to address this.

@@KidKickThe training will fix it. The current system 3.3 seems to have the driving sorted. Now it's these kinds of thing and having reverse available that will be another step forward. It should be incredible in 6 or so months when other cone also start getting it. Other countries will add even more edge cases and crazy road types to the data set. They have mountains of data but have likely been feeding mostly NA clips to it. Now NA works well for most use, they can start feeding more "other" stuff which will likely also help for NA. E.g. Highway stack will benefit from Autobahn data as it flows at a much higher speed.

Do you consider that as a good manouver or rather a bad one?

Not too sure. There's one cone set aside, and it seems construction hasn't begun yet. I'm not sure if it's okay to proceed. What do you think?

If car ignores a Road Closure, and Detour signs, that could be very dangerous. Not a good thing.

Of course. That's why they keep training it. The more it sees these things with disengagement the corrective action that's taken the better it becomes.
The ability for the car to reverse is coming doon. That opens up lots more options too.

@@eubikedude Wow, after almost 4 years in beta, FSD will soon go in reverse. Maybe.
Did you know that FSD can not handle diagonal parking spots? When is that coming? 😄
Can the mighty neural nets and AI ever read road signs: Detour, No Right Turn on Red from 6am to 9am, Men at Work, Bridge Out?

@@DerekDavis213 12 is a totally new architecture in development for a bit over a year. Do you know how hard the progress has been? How much compute is needed? These things will come.

@@eubikedude Are you a STEM graduate? Then of course you know that progress with FSD currently *does* *not* mean continued progress in a linear fashion until 100 percent autonomy is reached.
FSD that you can 100 percent trust with your life might never come.

@@DerekDavis213 You don't need to be a STEM graduate to know that. But a bit of logic will tell you that adding diagonal parking based on what it currently does seems quite plausible. There will be fast and slow rates of improvement and it gets harder as the cases get narrower but that's offset by increases in compute/algorithms. No one really knows. But it's already very usable and safer than a lot of humans. Not having 100% autonomy does not mean the system is pointless either. Even basic AP on motorways is safer and more relaxing if used properly. Waiting for perfect is the enemy of good/useful today. Nirvana fallacy a bit too.

Please don't use those huge/annoying subtitles. YT generates pretty good ones anyway that people can turn on/off and move around. Or if you must, do them on a sentence basis not flashing up for every word. Even if your video is great, it makes it unwatchable.

Thank you for the feedback! I am super new and don’t know what works and what doesn’t. I will keep that in mind for next one.

@@KidKick👍🏻 For this kind of content, clear and no-frills is best IMO. Concentrate on getting the vide/view looking good and no music or other stuff. Soft music is OK for sped up bits/no commentary.
