There are some things the Cybertruck does that I hope catches on with other manufacturers. Specifically, the headlight placement. It's nice and low, which is great because every truck has their headlights at EXACTLY FUCKING EYE LEVEL with every other driver on the road that's not also in a truck.
@@LukeIngels no it's not. I like bright lights so I can see but I hate blinding drivers because it's scary driving at night and not knowing if they are going to crash into you going on a opposite 2 lane. For that reason I keep the normal low and fog lights high to minimize blinding but also letting me see the road. The cybertruck is great that it has brights but facing downward. Yes there are some jerks on the road that tailgate and blind people but that's not limited to trucks. Plenty of sedans and SUVs do that as well however it's not the majority of people.
Yet! My first goal (when I get mine) will be to learn it inside and out. Like every other piece of hardware I own, it'll be fully custom. People doing the same will inevitably be in high demand as Cybertrucks start to roll (or limp) into shops. I can tell you I'm particularly excited that it can not only run my welder, but is _literally made of blank stainless panels!_ I think people are vastly underestimating the versatility of that, and the degree of customizability this will bring. *You can magnet/weld things to the truck!* Cybertruck might accidentally become a Maker fad! While I can only imagine in anticipation of the Artist's visions it'll enable, for me it's going to be a utility workhorse. Winches, boxes, benches, etc... This thing was built to be a Mars rover, and I'll probably end up using it much like they will, there.
I doubt you’ll see this but… if you do the same kind of turning radius comparisons in the future, it might be easier to compare if you draw the path of each vehicle in different colors. Just a thought! Thanks!
This is the most honest review I’ve seen of the truck. Everyone else has given somewhat glowing reports. Maybe because they don’t want to be shunned from future events. Good for you.

This is the rare MKBHD L. The downside list should probably contain aspects of the design like the doors being razor sharp, the panels rusting, poor visibility, and having missed so many of the design promises that were originally made. Disappointed to see such a focus on the limited upside of this vehicle after calling the Fisker Ocean the worst car you've ever reviewed.
30:06 I feel like this scene would’ve been so much better if the f150 lightning and the cyber truck both stopped where they started the turn, would’ve shown how much of a difference there is between both of them
Ackshually if both cars just do 360 and stop where they started, they would be in the same position and there would be no difference. The main difference is visible on the 180 degree point, on the other side of the turn.
tires arent any more expensive than a full size pickup truck tbh....wiper blade looks to be a standard Semi truck blade but with 2 of them maybe which arent that expensive tbh
Im interested in the repair cost as well because its really going to be replacement or repair (if they can even repair stainless steel) but there's going to be no need to paint the vehicle.
You show up at my place and I perceive you to be smart. Considering TCO is much more important than initial purchase price. Cheaper to “fuel” and less downtime for oil changes and other maintenance. Win, win for a business
So... the first thing that came to mind when you looked at how sharp those edges are on it... Being made of stainless steel, if you accidently hit someone, even going relatively slow, on the corner... That's gonna cause some pretty serious bodily harm compared to a rounded/plastic headlight.... Like, that's sharp enough to just outright split a person open instead of them bouncing off and flying.
this will be (probably) the reason why in EU it wont get aproved. Also the big windshild - how expensive it must be to get this shit repaired. In EU you cant drive with a windshild who has a crack inside, so you gotta swap fast. idk seem srsly not good practice to have something that big to be replaced if you drive often on highways etc where small stones all time flip up
@@hollow7981 It's not a passenger car. You Can register even full-size trucks in EU and they all have much taller front-ends than this. Hell, most new cars sold are crazy tall right now and many SUVs have completely vertical front ends, so passenger cars regulations have little to do with actual pedestrian safety in this reality of exploiting the legal loopholes. The windshield is huge, but truck windshields are huge anyway and this is at least not too upright. Owners of big windshields (like big RVs) put transparent PPF foil on them. And I doubt anyone will use this car as a highway daily... or at least anyone sane ;)

There obviously are other pickup trucks but they're much more reasonable, and being used to do actual work
@@pdcichosz - It's not the height of the front end. Cars have to have crumple zones and so forth. You cannot have a vehicle which is basically a stainless steel wedge. You can easily Google better information but it is also the weight which means you cannot drive it on a normal driving licence. The EU doesn't want 3.5 tons of stainless steel with no crumple zone smashing into the back of little family cars. As far as I heard it is already known it won't pass EU standards of safety. @@BenjoCovers Quick search suggests that Model X windshield replacement cost is between 2000-2800 EUR (or 2200-3000 USD). I'm 68 and probably over the hill as a driver, but I'll be damned if I'm going to get a car that doesn't have an *analog* speedometer I can glance at through my steering wheel. Not to mention one with virtually no convenient knobs and buttons. Tesla didn't get rid of them to make its cars look sleek and futuristic; it got rid of them to lower its production costs. And there's no doubt in my mind that burying basic car controls like AC and music in a touch screen makes solo driving more dangerous.
Pointy corners and high blocky front combined with a rigid exoskeleton. I guess we're not going to see this in Europe anytime soon, and honestly, I'm glad it won't be hitting pedestrians here, for all that some of the other features are cool. It's frustrating how everyone is ignoring the fact that these larger vehicles are far more dangerous to pedestrians. When hit by a car people get pushed under the car instead of over the hood. Those sharp corners on the front should be illegal. It's incredibly immoral to make a dangerous car like that just to suit Musk's vanity. It doesn't improve the car's performance or add new features. Thing is, the metal in cars was designed to crumble in an accident to reduce the amount of force reaching the passengers. It was saving lives. This thing is being built like a tank, but in serious crashes, there will be a lot of force transferred to the passengers that can cause serious damage.
Check out the crash footage and notice that the cybertruck stops like a brick wall, putting all the g-forces on the people inside who aren't made of metal and continue moving as the car has completely stopped. However, I very much enjoyed the review and have always enjoyed this channel 🙂
I like how Marques does these videos, I am seeing more of these videos pop up and they always seem over excited where Marques just tells me what the thing is
People make this mistake all the time, but the difference between a steel panel and a plastic panel when crashing at 30+ mph is basically nothing. Steel crumples just like plastic when that much force is applied.
It’s very safe for the person inside, but probably for anything outside of a semi, it’s highly highly dangerous and very incompatible with crashing other vehicles
The fact that Marques isn't going nuts over this thing and actually giving us a balanced review of the vehicle, with some pros and some cons. That's a pro. I know other car/tech-reviewers that are gonna be simping like hell over this thing (finding no flaws) and then F150-ganggangers that are gonna hate on it for no reason.
you cant find something you're not looking for. There are biased people out there and there are also people who don't care about anything else. Everything in this world has flaws, you just have to look for them. Don't blame the reviewer who only says positive things. And also, Marques hasn't said one thing that i found as a flaw for me that is. For some people some things are deal breakers but then again if you want something you have to accept whatever it comes with especially when you've been made aware a tons about it.
I believe is not balanced, he is focus on many irrelevant details for some reason. He has not in favor of Tesla lately for some reason. Feel bad for that. I found many other reviews today with plenty of information extra. There are hundred of very interesting details. He is trying to show some details and minimize them almost all the time, LIke is ok, I will not do this just because it could break, total refraction when talking about the massive winshield, minimize the extraordinary things when compare with other brands, avoid topics about safety, durability, and so on. He has the budged and skills to do a way better review and for some "unknow reason" he didn't.
I think he's glossing over a lot of the things that make this a form over function buy and an infefficient use of resources (it's slow and inefficient given the power train used, and has little utility given the enormous size) -- in order not to offend the hand that feeds him. Expected more simping though and the gent is charming and informative to watch. There are worse way of making money I guess...
Pro detailer (and Delorean) Tip: For quick - and constant fingerprint removal, Lemon Pledge is your best friend for brushed Stainless Steel. Stainless cleaner is okay, but Pledge, rubbed in direction of grain is awesome, and reduces further printing.
@MM-fh6kp True. The Weisman stuff is decent. But amazingly, Pledge is some stuff..they changed the formula about 10 years ago, more water based than silicone, sbd had to revise when users revolted. Bikers and detailers use it like mad for certain jobs. It is the best for Piano Black glossy plastic finishes, and lubricates to prevent wear and micro scratching on black gloss iPhone finish. It's something I am never without. Good on leather too, but not for high end leather like Gucci, Connolly etc.
I used to be a janitor when I was a teenager, and we used lemon oil, so that sounds like lemon pledge would be similar/the same. It worked really well.
No door handles and the fact u have to put your fingers in the door just seem like a great way to break your fingers if you get bumped into or something. Frozen door is a good point too
It does seem like there is a LOT to re-learn about driving when it comes to this truck. As far as the frozen door goes I don't think there will be much to be concerned about. If the door is frozen on a traditional vehicle, you're still facing the same problem.
Other electric opening doors have a pin that holds the door open until the door has been manually opened and then closed again. It makes pinching hard to impossible. No idea if Tesla did this though
I appreciate that someone finally mentions how the production truck is smaller than the prototype. It has been obvious in photos/videos of the test mules, but no one seems to have mentioned it.
As someone who has driven full-sized pickups most of their adult life, I can completely understand the "Where is my nose" concern. We used to just put an antenna with a bright orange tip to indicate, but you can't do that here. I would recommend taking the truck to a parking lot and practice parking using the front-facing camera to help build that muscle memory.
The thing I think is a missed opportunity with the large windshield is an HUD where they could have put the speedometer and a simplified navigation picture.
@thomasreese2816 you don't get get to decide whats necessary or not. Having a hud is always better. The option to disable it should depend on the customer
@@thomasreese2816what's needed and what isn't is the question. A heads up display would have been great especially since it only has one screen. All that space is just wasted
In your full review I think it would be critical to discuss how safe it is, both as a driver as well as people outside the vehicle. To me, this is one of the most important features of a car, because of how dangerous driving is, especially for people being hit by cars
Yeah, I'm actually generally concerned about something so heavy with so much acceleration. It could potentially lead to some fairly gnarly accidents, but maybe the automatic collision breaking could help circumvent that. But this is the issue with heavy vehicles, it's inherently dangerous for others on the road due to the sheer mass difference between vehicles.
To further add to the concerns raised by the others, the huge blindspot in front of the car means frontovers are a huge concern. I know he said there is a camera on the front grill so is this automatically activated if your pulling out of a parking stall or is it just a tech gimmick you can optionally turn on?
Be interesting to see how it performs in crash tests with what seems to be a very rigid body and crumple zones that don't look like they would crumple easily
it's literally the first thing i thought about when they announced it. the reason cars used to be so dangerous, was because they didn't give when you hit things.
It will be interesting to see how this truck performs several years down the line, because with that amount of stainless steel, there will definitely be a lot of thermal expansion/shrinkage in play
It strikes me in US videos that no one mentions that this beast is SOOOO heavy that : 1/ it doesn't quite have the mileage per KWH it should but most importantly 2/ it requires a truck permit in Europe and would likely be very deadly for third parties caught in a car accident involving this car. Thanks for the nice "impression" video :)
Also, the door system is very unsafe. You literally can’t open the doors from the outside it if the power system fails and there is an unconscious passenger
Yeah I'm a little surprised the sharp-edged design got past regulators...I would have thought the rules for pedestrian safety would have precluded such a design.
I would be interested in seeing how it hauls things like boats, campers, trailers and ice castles. 11,000 towing capacity is pretty damn good, but it would be interesting to see what hauling things does to the range, how it handles with a trailer, etc.

@mattdajedi I think you overestimate how many people have 100,000 lying around for a car, and the amount of those that would actually spend it on this specific car.
it's weird that we never get a camera shot of the driver's POV. Marques mentioned multiple times that he cant see the nose of the car-- so it would have been great to get a view of this.
True, but almost no "normal" pickup truck can you see the nose of the car. It's the first thing anyone who never drove one will notice, but that's how it looks for every pickup I've had (2 RAM 2500s and an F150). Takes a few rides to get used to it.
Would've loved to have seen a camera angle shot from the drivers perspective regarding visibility. The super long A pillars look like they would create troublesome blind spots. It was mentioned that visibility is good, but show us that too.
that is impossible to actually express with a camera. You can get a view, but cameras see VASTLY differently than our 2 eyes, in 3d, in the real world, with a tilting head.
I am used to seeing your phone reviews; the curiosity to see your reviews on cars made me watch this, and guess what, you did great! You are so good with reviews, and your contents are always so engaging.
One thing that no one seems to notice is the limited access to the front of the bed. Because of the shape of the back, the height of the sides at the front of the bed is nearly shoulder height (Marques seems pretty tall), so there is no way to reach over the side and into the bed. Since there doesn't seem to be any step at the side, the only way to access the front of the bed is from the back. Say you put something in the bed at the back and it slides to the front during driving, You'd have to open the tailgate and climb into the bed to retrieve it. This makes me question the CT's practicality as a real day to day work truck
No argument about the difficulty of reaching over the front of the bed but you have a lot to learn if you put an unsecured item in the back of the bed. Touch your brakes at anything over five mph and it will come flying forward. Ask me how I know.
I'd say most modern 1/2T trucks have the same issue (unless they have a step there). I have a 22 F150, I'm 6'1, and I still have challenge reaching anything in front of the bed from the side.
The thing I’m worried about with these is the severe lack of crumple zone, it’s a safety feature built into every car and truck to protect people in case of an accident. Seeing that this is a giant stainless steel sharp block, I’d hate to see anyone on the receiving end of a crash.
Model S became the safest car, then model x overtook it. Model 3 again took the #1 spot as worlds safest car, they literally couldn’t roll it using the standard setup. Model Y saw a new star rating as it exceeded every test and became teslas 4th safest car in a row. Cybertruck comes after that record and your worried about safety? I’m worried about about being taken out by another car before I get a drive.
Uh, I don't think you want the side windows to be shatter-proof... It's kind of important to be able to be able to shatter them so that you can get out in an emergency.
A Tesla engineer said on X that the windows still shatter with a traditional glass break tool. It’s just designed to be extra resistant to blunt force from objects like rocks.
Also the reason cars aren't bulletproof is not a lack of money, it's that in a car accident you'd rather have the car absorb some of the force instead of it getting through to the driver. This looks like a pretty big safety hazard
@@amitthehuman And for that reason the bulletproof windows are optional. Its your choice between being safe from getting shot or being safe from drowning or fire

As a person who has done a bit of repair work on older trucks I can assure you no mechanic in existence could ever work on this thing.
Which is exactly what Musk and Tesla want, you're forced to visit their mechanics and pay them directly.
It's such a piss take of a truck haha

30:06 I feel like this scene would’ve been so much better if the f150 lightning and the cyber truck both stopped where they started the turn, would’ve shown how much of a difference there is between both of them
You can see the difference when the Lightning is turning off camera and the CT stays within frame.
Thank God it wasn’t just me. I watched it like five times to make sure i was not crazy. It’s extremely hard to tell any difference in that visual
what difference? There is barely any difference
I was expecting that, and then when it didnt happen, I was thinking to myself, wait, wtf..
Ackshually if both cars just do 360 and stop where they started, they would be in the same position and there would be no difference.
The main difference is visible on the 180 degree point, on the other side of the turn.
This feels like it would be such an expensive car to fix?? Those tires, that windshield, the wipers?? Absolutely insane
Well it's expensive to buy too. I'm guessing the target audience can afford the repairs
Its a "throw it in the bin" once you crash it truck.
tires arent any more expensive than a full size pickup truck tbh....wiper blade looks to be a standard Semi truck blade but with 2 of them maybe which arent that expensive tbh
Im interested in the repair cost as well because its really going to be replacement or repair (if they can even repair stainless steel) but there's going to be no need to paint the vehicle.

I'm glad you are impressed with Cybertruck - renting one next week in Sacramento for a week. Can't wait!
So... the first thing that came to mind when you looked at how sharp those edges are on it...
In EU you cant drive with a windshild who has a crack inside, so you gotta swap fast. idk seem srsly not good practice to have something that big to be replaced if you drive often on highways etc where small stones all time flip up
Hitting anyone with your vehicle is pretty serious
@@pdcichoszthere are pedestrian safety regulations here in the eu, believe it or not. If you can register some of the "american" trucks that means that they passed the safety tests, we'll see about this one being sharp and with way more rigid panels.

On a personal note, I'm not sure it is going to live up to the standards of an actual truck and he's been beaten to market with an electric truck. I think Tesla might be in trouble. Twitter is draining money and time out of the company and the semi-truck will never come to market and everything else like the robot is BS.

At least the wheels are high poly
People make this mistake all the time, but the difference between a steel panel and a plastic panel when crashing at 30+ mph is basically nothing. Steel crumples just like plastic when that much force is applied.
Not safe for people are cars around it.
It’s very safe for the person inside, but probably for anything outside of a semi, it’s highly highly dangerous and very incompatible with crashing other vehicles

I was more excited to watch this video than to watch the delivery event yesterday. As always, great job 👍🏻👍🏻
Pro detailer (and Delorean) Tip: For quick - and constant fingerprint removal, Lemon Pledge is your best friend for brushed Stainless Steel. Stainless cleaner is okay, but Pledge, rubbed in direction of grain is awesome, and reduces further printing.
But does it make your car smell like a Lemon?@MM-fh6kp
A detailer aswell, in the Delorean manual, to clean the panels they recommend using gasoline on a rag. No joke
Saw one on Hwy. 99 in California. It was so big! 😊
No doubt. Pinched fingers was my first thought too
Other electric opening doors have a pin that holds the door open until the door has been manually opened and then closed again. It makes pinching hard to impossible. No idea if Tesla did this though
Tesla have a app so if you are smart in the winter just turn on warming from the app and then the is will smelt
Doubt it and didn't look like it@@Zachary55
I appreciate that someone finally mentions how the production truck is smaller than the prototype. It has been obvious in photos/videos of the test mules, but no one seems to have mentioned it.
Probably because it’s been known for AT LEAST a year…maybe for two+. It’s become a given to people reviewing/following the truck development.
It's already been covered numerous times. The original size didn't fit in a standard North American garage.
If the wheels were rectangular it would match the aethetics

A real Homer Simpson car. Well, Musk seems to have taken some inspirations anyways.
how much uglier do you want this truck to be
As someone who has driven full-sized pickups most of their adult life, I can completely understand the "Where is my nose" concern.
Plenty of 3rd party options exist, but it isn't needed
Yep but Tesla will never do a HUD unfortunately
@thomasreese2816 you don't get get to decide whats necessary or not. Having a hud is always better. The option to disable it should depend on the customer
@@thomasreese2816what's needed and what isn't is the question. A heads up display would have been great especially since it only has one screen. All that space is just wasted

Best review on the whole internet right now.
Not to mention the fact it has no crumple zone, at all. Big yikes right there
Inside is extremely safe. Tesla is obsessed with safety and it's a huge heavy car.
Outside you don't really want to mess with any truck.
@@teafvlyou talking nonsense
To further add to the concerns raised by the others, the huge blindspot in front of the car means frontovers are a huge concern. I know he said there is a camera on the front grill so is this automatically activated if your pulling out of a parking stall or is it just a tech gimmick you can optionally turn on?
Be interesting to see how it performs in crash tests with what seems to be a very rigid body and crumple zones that don't look like they would crumple easily
it's literally the first thing i thought about when they announced it. the reason cars used to be so dangerous, was because they didn't give when you hit things.
It will be doubtful if this car can be sold in the EU. This car doesn’t look very pedestrian friendly…
Also the sharp corners in the front might make the difference between some bruises and serious injuries in a pedestrian accident
@@neodym5809the car has gone through crash testing. There are videos of it online.
that was my very first thought when they announced it. It looks like a killing machine. And not in a "cool" or "badass" way.
You know, it’s a start to a great day when the first thing you do is sit down and watch a 40 minute video from Marques! I love it!
I also noticed that in that 40 mins, it received about 5k LIKES while I was watching!!!

It will be interesting to see how this truck performs several years down the line, because with that amount of stainless steel, there will definitely be a lot of thermal expansion/shrinkage in play
And bespoke wheels and wiper and cover, Tesla created an annuity of maintenance work for themselves.
I think I've read that thermal expansion is minimal as its the same steel SpaceX uses in its rockets, but only time will tell.
No it won’t go see the TOP GEAR review it’s 100% better than this and they explain all this
As nice as the specs are that just doesn’t make up for being ugly.
@@HexMagmusI think it looks great, people who think it's ugly just won't buy kne
Very good points.
Also, the door system is very unsafe. You literally can’t open the doors from the outside it if the power system fails and there is an unconscious passenger
I also thought about the safety concerns, if that hits any car at full speed, its over
I fear this car would be a fav for criminals
Yeah I'm a little surprised the sharp-edged design got past regulators...I would have thought the rules for pedestrian safety would have precluded such a design.
Wow! the fold-up rear seat feature is amazing - my 2016 F-150 has that too!
My parents 2001 Chevy Silverado has it too.... It's rare...... but it's useful.. lol
So does my Buick encore!!! 😂😂😂
late to this but happy to watch mkbhd
I would be interested in seeing how it hauls things like boats, campers, trailers and ice castles. 11,000 towing capacity is pretty damn good, but it would be interesting to see what hauling things does to the range, how it handles with a trailer, etc.
well to think the bed of the truck is 2'x2' I wouldn't hold your breath for much.
It’s going to be hard, the Silverado ev can tow 200 miles with around 10,000
@bluntfruntac9981 it's a 5.5 foot bed, same as my chevy.
You're going to lose a lot of range towing unfy
@@shawntame45 Watch the video, there is no way in hell that bed is 6 feet long. Not even close. Maybe if you count the entire back and not the actual bed itself.
With the sharp edges, and huge momentum when it is accelerated, I doubt anyone/anything will survive got hit by it
So? If other people on the road wanted to live they would just buy Tesla's too. Why would they build a car that is safe for other people

this may not be allowed for traffic in Europe, because of pedestrians
I thought they would be illegal is some countries.
I've worked in metal fab for over 20 years and I'm a little impressed that they were able to avoid die marks on that stainless as well as they have.... Looks like they stuck to some old school proven techniques like using thin ptfe sheets to protect it or even dies made with it built in. Good attention to detail. Since they are not using stainless, many auto makers paint over their die marks, but if you look close enough you can still see them.
Uh, it’s not pressed like other csr panels. Duh.
The fact that they are using stainless steel shows just how stupid this car is.

This is a good review. I’m glad it’s so expensive, I’m not sure I’d want to see too many on the road.
I think you underestimate how much people have money and how much they actually have.
@mattdajedi I think you overestimate how many people have 100,000 lying around for a car, and the amount of those that would actually spend it on this specific car.
It's not a review.

it's weird that we never get a camera shot of the driver's POV. Marques mentioned multiple times that he cant see the nose of the car-- so it would have been great to get a view of this.
I'm gonna try to get a POV shot from the Meta smart glasses for the review
@@mkbhd I think you're just used to being tall in small cars, usually most people can't see the hood when driving
I can't see that on my model y, but there are sensors cameras that let you know how close you are to a wall or object.
Guys not perfect.
True, but almost no "normal" pickup truck can you see the nose of the car. It's the first thing anyone who never drove one will notice, but that's how it looks for every pickup I've had (2 RAM 2500s and an F150). Takes a few rides to get used to it.
Excellent, Deployed Through The TRUTH Network… Thank You
Would've loved to have seen a camera angle shot from the drivers perspective regarding visibility. The super long A pillars look like they would create troublesome blind spots. It was mentioned that visibility is good, but show us that too.
that is impossible to actually express with a camera. You can get a view, but cameras see VASTLY differently than our 2 eyes, in 3d, in the real world, with a tilting head.
@@jf8138We could've gotten at least a better idea by him doing what Matt suggested.

That thing is hideous
Yes. Weird architecture, plus the fact that the wiper only goes so far across the windshield, makes it look potentially bad with regard to visibility.

Exactly how does everyone miss that?
No argument about the difficulty of reaching over the front of the bed but you have a lot to learn if you put an unsecured item in the back of the bed. Touch your brakes at anything over five mph and it will come flying forward. Ask me how I know.
why not just put the item in the back seat? The bed is for longer items.
@@AldoVanucci1966 you can simply lower the backend as seen in the original 2019 announcement event🎉
I'd say most modern 1/2T trucks have the same issue (unless they have a step there). I have a 22 F150, I'm 6'1, and I still have challenge reaching anything in front of the bed from the side.
I bought one last week and i'm waiting for the moment to drive it
The thing I’m worried about with these is the severe lack of crumple zone, it’s a safety feature built into every car and truck to protect people in case of an accident.

@@stevem815not really. Most teslas are just on the heavier end of the normal range for their class. Plenty of combustion cars weigh more.
Uh, I don't think you want the side windows to be shatter-proof... It's kind of important to be able to be able to shatter them so that you can get out in an emergency.
Especially when there is no door handle - sounds like in an accident you're trapped.
