Many historians fail in their research because, though they have documents, they do not have a 'reading tool'. The best tool / approach that has hitherto come into existence is the historiography of Hegel. Since Hegel's tool is philosophy and metaphysics, historians apply the easiest method, namely, the materialistic [not metaphysical] tool of Marx. As a result, many are trapped in particular histories without being able to offer the reader a 'historical perspective'. The advantage I find with the video presentations of Dr K. M. Francis is that, though he is an economic theorist by profession, he offers us 'perspectives' even when he at times might run the risk of going wrong with some minor particulars.
The impression created by some so called history writers ,is the Portuguese were like pirates and they were deeply immersed in plundering the then kerala and they did no contributions to kerala society . The protestant countries like Dutch,the then English and they spread the impression that only their rule was helping the kerala society .the arrival of Portuguese gave a better deal to kerala traders and buried the monopoly of the Arab traders who were very jealous of the Portuguese and the local muslime people supported the Arabs on religious grounds . The arrival of Europeans in general helped to get a better deal for local traders and naturally the after effects in the kerala society was so effective that the higher castes in kerala slowley dwindled and a new Era in kerala society dawned .

Arabs were doing monopoly trade. Now Dubai is doing competitive trade 🎉 Just accept that, whether it is Arabs or it is Portuguese their main concern is profit and not social transformation. But during the process of international trade cultural transformation happens. This happened in Dubai. Dubai now permitted religious freedom like western countries 🎉

I am research supervisor and already my six students recieved PhD. This delivery is for proposing new research topics. For example in Kerala a few know that Tippus army and arsenal was the supply of French. Tippu tried to sell Mangalore port to Ottomans etc. Simple accusations does not create transformations in society 🙏
