Just a quick note. I was born in Morgantown but haven't been back in over 30 years. The elevated transportation system seen at the end of the playthrough was called THE PEOPLE MOVER. The pods were more square in the real system, but after so many years away they may have changed to what we see in 76, or it may just be artistic license.
42:23 this has suddenly become a LOT more relevant now that the blue devils have been introduced. We know they were once regular dogs, and we know that they were experimented on and then escaped after the bombs fell. It's only mentioned in a note that "they" experimented on them "there". We don't know yet who "they" are, or where "there" is; but, it'd be interesting if this kid told his influential dad about his experiment idea and his father took the said experiment a bit more literally than he should have when he implemented it.

Well one of the entries mentioned VT aquired the old university buildings so I'm thinking before that they interviewed. Also possible they chose graduates or random people depending on the individual vault. In 81's case the overseer was VTS last unwanted choice.
Ox, you skipped over the list of spices used for the food paste formula, but I think it's funny the first one is Capsacin (sic). Capsaicin is non-edible and by definition toxic. It is used in medicinal applications mostly. Its material safety data sheet has to this to say about it: Ingestion: harmful if swallowed. Causes gastrointestinal tract irritation with burning sensation in the mouth and throat, headache, nausea, vomiting, watering eyes, and runny nose, shortness of breath. May affect behavior/central nervous system (convulsions, excitement, muscle contraction or spasticity). Sounds just like a spice Vault-Tec would pick;)
@@sedlinasera3891 Yes they do, they do not however use pure capsaicin as indicated in the terminal, specifically because peppers were mentioned next. This implies they meant to use pure concentrated capsaicin. Spicy food will not harm you unless you overdose, but pure capsaicin is a deadly poison.
@@hugalafutro You are in for a hard time if you want to stick to that. Despite being flavorless capsaicin is used in plenty of foods and sauces to add a 'spicy' note to it. Simply because the lab produced capsaicin is cheaper than the extacted powder or fluid (if extracted with a still) and it doesn't add the aroma/flavour of the source material that way.
@@sedlinasera3891 I feel like I'm having a hard time to get my point across, I'll leave this convo with 1 last analogy. You are talking about castor oil, I am talking about pure refined ricin. Because in the terminal it mentioned the chemical compound as an ingredient. Not it's solution, not a powder with trace amounts of it. If you still think I'm wrong that's cool, let's agree to disagree.
Oxhorn, when covering the Top of the World and the super mutant infestation in the area, it is good to note you can find a suit of power armor with raider armor in the arena and with about four to five recipes along the “market” of the former raider settlement.
In regards to your question about Vault experiments - is it not entirely possible that some Overseers didn't come via Vault Tec University, even if states other than W Virginia had similar establishments? I swear I read somewhere that some previous Vault Overseers were chosen because of their natural management skills or something to that effect? I could of course be remembering that wrong but just a thought!
The guy that was handcuffed in the locker, if he was hand cuffed how did the locket get opened? Or on the side that allows the locker to be opened upwards? Disturbing questions.
Well there was dead mole rates so i wonder if someone went there before the player and opened the locker and found that and left it there.OR someone hid in the lockers to hide from the ghouls and they killed him by smashing it open.but i think its more of the first one because it seems more viable

I think my favorite thing about this is that the dean's name, Harland Elliot, is a reference to author Harland Ellison. Given that his story "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream" involves a computer trapping a group of humans to essentially torture them in creative ways for eternity, that jives really well with what Vault-Tec was doing.
By the looks of it, haking is one of the most important skills to get, even lockpicking. As you would need to read nearly everything you come across, even lockpick things to get into things to get more quests, So if I get this game, those would be two important skills to work on to be able to get all the quests in the game, and able to find places early. Keep up with the lore videos mate, you do great work and I can't wait to see what you have planned next.
Remember that the first Overseer at 81 had second thoughts about the experiment and decided not to go through with it. They were so ashamed of it that they covered the entire thing up hoping that none of the dwellers would never learn of it. Also recall that the first overseer's terminal was in storage near the reactors and it had a master level encryption, this probably means that the Overseer did everything in their power to ensure that subsequent overseers would not learn of the true purpose for 81.
Using our own waste is not that odd. In fact, chances are you drank toilet water if you live in a medium or large city. That’s what modern treatment plants do. They take waste water, remove physical objects (leaves, wood, etc) and then through several systems that remove fecal material, tissue, etc, and finally purify the water. If you were in such a vault, a system like this would be standard to conserve water and reuse waste for fertilizer in hydroponics bays.
What's bad about dissecting teens? They're only humans, they die, what is wrong with dissecting a teenage corpse when it's okay to dissect an adult one? If they were doing vivisections or killing teens for this that would then be horrible but this way? It's just medical and academic. Nothing out of the oridinary.
I can guarantee you, if it's Vault-Tec they weren't just dissecting teens that died from natural or accidental causes, that isn't their style...no, they found disadvantaged or maybe even runaways and purposely made them into dissection subjects.
El Mutanto I totally agree with you but if they didn’t agree to donate their bodies to science it is completely inhumane, and also they ARE vault Tec so they are probably doing other types of experiments that aren’t moral.
@@FishNeedles hardly... Pretty much every GOOD medical school teaches via dissection child/prepubescent bodies & mid puberty bodies are different enough that you can't go to perform surgery on one of all your experience is with adults with full adult bone structure and closed growth plates. Vault Tec probably were stealing bodies and killing people for this but given its Dissection NOT vivisection it's not an ethical problem to be involved in the dissection of a properly sourced with consent given corpse in a medical class context. Now if it had said vivisection then that would be actively EVIL as it's the cutting open of a live patient, real Mengele shit. Similarly if it's proved Vault-Tec were stealing bodies that would be immoral

There are quests that unlock at lv 25, also i had a lv 10 quest and there where to scorch bats lv 50 blasting fire from the air on me....
This is the oxhorn,a rare speice that lives in the montains he is eating lore and he is a bit fluffy LOVE FROM GREECE OXHORN
Oxhorn love your lore videos! Keep up the excellent work. You can tell that you put your heart and soul into your work!! On a side note will be ordering the book you have written very soon!!
I hope you enjoy it!
I agree thats so true that oxhorn really does put sweat blood and tears in his videos! And oxhorn you have a book whats it about? I bet its great! And if i tried to do this story telling like you oxhorn! It would probably not be as good as your videos! Butt i Can always take inspiration from your story telling and probably use it in show and tell exercises in school! Well all that ”boring” school stuff aside! You make great content oxhorn and Im really Happy that u exist aswell as its pretty cool that you are so skilled at these things! I really wish you a great things! Im gonna try to learn from your very skilled and awesome showing and telling!
@memes co Its called The Tales of Cloran Hastings you can go to his channel and it should be under the about tab.
Oxhorn, you racist! How dare you call that ghoul a zombie!
Please use the politically correct term "Mortally Challenged".
I have removed Cerberus combat inhibitor.
I would pay 5000 caps to watch the Vault-Tec Puberty Welcome Kit vids. It's probably full of SCIENCE!
It probably also comes with some cheerful cartoons!
Get on with this Todd
I know you like 12 year ilds but my god
That's not creepy at all...
"So, we here at Vault-Tec heard that SOMEBODY around here MIGHT be going into puberty! *Canned laughter* Now, we understand that this is an awkward time for you and you may feel uncomfortable talking about it with your family or friends. But don't worry! You can ALWAYS trust us here at Vault-Tec, just like we're your second family! Because we are!
As you enter puberty your body will go through some changes. Again, there's no need to worry as this is all perfectly normal! In the Part 1 holotape, we'll cover what changes to expect and where to expect them. In Part 2, we'll go over what to do if you discover parts of your body changing that AREN'T normal! Sure, you may grow a foot or two TALLER, but you might want to go talk with your trustworthy and friendly Overseer if you find yourself growing an extra foot or two! *Canned laughter*
Also, check to see if your Vault has been supplied with these additional Holotapes on Puberty and Courtship:
What's That Down There?
How Much Is Too Much?
Is This Love?
Know Your Ointments
When Should I Marry?
Procreation, NOT Recreation!
It's A Date!

A Young Man's Fancy
When They Want It Rough
What To Do On A Date
How Much Affection?
In-Breeding Is Never In-Style
Body Care And Grooming
The Home Economics Story
If your Vault was not provided with any of the Holotapes that might answer your questions, don't feel bad! We here at your second family made sure to provide each and every Vault with the best Overseer in the world! Ask them if you have any questions! And remember, here safe and sound in your Vault you are TRULY a member of not only the Vault-Tec team, but of the VAULT-TEC FAMILY! *canned applause*"
Sounds just like a spice Vault-Tec would pick;)
literally every taco booth around the globe is using ingredients with capsaicin in it. Its in chili peppers and every other type of paprika
Capsaicin is what makes hot peppers hot. It was probably used to add flavor to other pastes.
@@hugalafutro
You are in for a hard time if you want to stick to that.
These power armor drops aren't guaranteed though sadly.
I found my Power armor there didnt have raider Stuff on it tho
I like it when he shares his thoughts or laughs because it reminds me that he’s not just a narrator he’s one of us,he’s a player
"Drums in the deep." Killed me, I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes lord of the rings
@@lordstrixe4652 the first one might be cool except its always open like that. A thought for me is someone brought it down(raider or responder) and checked it out. But its still creepy to think about.
@@axlmagnus Maybe one of his (her?) friends tried to open the locker to save them, but they were both vaporized by the blast
That a good question
As someone ACTUALLY NAMED LIAM, Ox... you scared the crap out of me. 🤣
"Drums in the Deep" line earned a like. A true Tolkein fan

For me, there were various bones in one of the lockers you looked at, at 18:06. It definitely put an even darker twist on an already dark vault.
Oxhorn maybe you'll know because when it comes to fallout you pretty much know more than even Todd Howard, but on release day what happens to beta players? The reason I'm asking is I've had a thought. The clock on my pipboy will be maybe a week or two ahead of the players who didn't play the beta. Which will be most of them.
I've got to say it, these videos pick up on all the lore I've missed myself. I live these videos. I know I'm late to it all but these make for great bedtime stories while I'm falling asleep on TH-cam, they make for great background sound and also make for great guides when I'm playing. These videos are awesome.
I hope one of those runes translates to "Valtech still owe us money" or "Who's on first"
Well at least Vaul-tec considered the cannibalism, they were actual scientists thinking in survival.
Doesn't make them any less evil, though.
Nom, Nom, Nom, Nom..... :-P
They also considered gassing residents, irradiating them, cloning them....or even kicking them out 25 years after the bombs fall, just 'cuz...
@@jordaneggerman4734 and the lottery murder. You know, to test their morality.
This is my first comment.... Anyway Oxford
you are making great videos.
Hey Jonathan you mistyped Oxhorn and if you want to change this press the three grey dots near your comment, go to ‘edit’ and then you can correct this mistake! This did give me a small chuckle but hopefully this reply helps you!
Eli Reimann I misspelled it on purpose I thought it was funny
32:56 ox: i dont wanna read this
*reads anyway*
Yes we’re getting fallout 76 lore now boys
WrathOfNile I hoped it was soon but not this soon! The hype is real!
Too bad the game sucks
Yeah, Oxhorn suffers so we don't have to.
@@legatefantastic4984 Except it doesn't.
James Allison did you play it? It’s a really fun game. My friend and I have been exploring the wastes as a team and killed a scorchedbeast together.
I love when Ox starts his episodes with "one day..." Gets me so invested right from the start!
Oh Oxhorn. Bethesda better be funneling you some under table cash or something. I was always into the Fallout universe, but since discovering your channel a year ago, my interest has peaked exponentially. There's so much lore in every nook and cranny. Can't wait for this game to finally release.
I really appreciate these videos. With the limited beta time I've been skipping over a lot of terminal entries. It's good to have an in depth video covering what I missed.
I've never clicked a notification so fast in my life
42:13 dog meat was trained by a long line of older dogs that were trained by vault-tech to train each other and their descendants. That's how he's so intelligent! CONFIRMED!!! XD
"You are suffering from Bone Worms"
"Let me guess, I have Aurellian spine-mites and will be in pain for the rest of my days?"
12:34 Oxhorn, you called it 5 years before the show...
Great video great voice great beard Great Man.
ALL HAIL THE GREAT BEARD-MAN
it should say "Great video, great voice. great beard, great man.
It’s been years but I just realized the coincidence of
West Virginia University’s colors being blue and yellow lol
God, I love lore.
Thanks for making these videos. I don't feel like I have time to look through these when I'm playing with my wife and I don't see myself playing solo too often. There's just sooooo many enemies.
I love how when I watched him play with the controller and enough time watching him play fallout 76 with a keyboard, not much difference.
"Drums in the deep oh! What sorry!" Hahaha
Ox, id pay good money for a lord of the rings audio book voiced by you!
Was waiting for this video. VTU was on of my most favorite places in f76 so far. Tons of lore. Great video!
Am I the only one who finds these nice to fall asleep too 😂
I love your investigative style. I’m very glad you’re covering lore already for this one.
Jediknight 129 How many squirrels did you dissect as a kid in the woods?
@@FishNeedles absolutely none, IV skinned and prepped a rabbit for the pot as part of a Cadet Camp survival training event but that's about it
26:50 that scream when you opened the door and a ghoul came at you. I laughed my tush off on that. Love your videos!
Hey oxhorn, I don't know if you know this but the start of the enclave quests can be found on the right side of lower route 65, also on the right side of the map. It's marker comes up as a cave entrance
Anybody noticed the ghouls are more randomized now and some wear combat armor and military uniforms
29:20
Oh Oxhorn, you sweet innocent child. How many vault lore videos have you done?
Obviously the primary cause of death of a vault dweller is being in a vault
Thanks Ox! It’s my birthday and getting a video from you is an excellent present!
Happy birthday
Jesse Graves thank you!
Absolutely it's always nice to give and receive birthday wishes
One of my favorite things about 76 is how it makes Vault-Tec out to be much more of a malicious force. I haven't gotten very far into the game, but seeing as they're trying to gain control of nuclear missile silos at any cost, I wouldn't be surprised it they were revealed to be the big baddie of the Fallout series.
Oxhorn ur the best fallout youtuber I ever meet
Even tho I watched you Live Stream this, I love the way you bring the whole story to Life in your Lore Videos! I have to admit I was on the fence about buying this as I really prefer the Modding Possibilities in the Single Player Games, but after watching your Streams I went ahead and bought it today. Hope to run into you during tomorrows Beta Run! Keep up the Awesome Lore Vids!
Can’t wait to get my vault boy helmet when the real game comes out
I was just watching this video. When at 26:49 the feral ghoul came out of nowhere. It surprised me I dropped my iPad. Seriously that one reason to stay hidden when feral ghouls are around.
Fallout 76 looks good, these videos are done really well Oxhorn.
The Overseer in 76 is the most well acted Fallout role I've heard.
There being a Vaul-Tec school to be is utter terror. Teaching the youth to be merciless at such an early age and especially with how heir experiment went wrong, it only furthers all that
Basically every Liberal Arts class ever
25:11 "Oh sorry"!
At vault tec university we make sure our professors are completely psychotic I mean meet our educational qualifications.
It really amazes me that for hundreds of years those terminal and those lightings are still working
This may be darker then a real vault because they were so young...
I mean fallout 4 might of had the darkest vualt that school vualt or what ever
@@BrevardCountyFloridox, you're thinking of vault 75, which makes Hallucigen look generous.
43:13 The food paste experiment was pretty harmless but the staff sabotaged it by adding higher dangerous plaquing agents to the paste.
I think this is a nit-pic on my part but if you put "Fallout 76 lore" in front of the rest of the title it would make it easier for your subscribers to see what video you posted so they don't think it's something that they aren't interested in.
I don't think that's nitpicking at all. It's a really great idea. When his video came up yesterday (or the day before idk lol) it took me until he said west virgina to realize it was even Fallout 76 lore. I was trying to figure out how I never saw that building in Fallout 4 before lol completely forgot about Oxhorn doing beta. Ahaha I'm a dumbass, but there are other dumbasses like me out there too.
Its all the same world
@@lordstrixe4652 Why should that matter? Oxhorn usually indicates what game the lore is from in the title.
@@Wearyman but he did put it in the title

The fact that most of the long-arms in this and FO4 are set up left handed but you use it right handed, really grinds my gears
