Not all is graphical. If you want to print the shape, then it makes some difference how you cap a cylinder when slicing - for instance, try printing a tube... I Boolean a cylinder from a cylinder to get the tube. Sometimes my slicers work better depending on how I have constructed the primary object before converting to stl format. Finding a repetitious print fail sometimes leads me to changing my geometry in blender and then try a new .stil file out.
I guess folks are wary of creasing because it doesn't always export, unapplied, and sometimes you want more control over the density of geometry near interpolated normals.
Bro. Just delete the top face, make a loop selection and grid fill, you can even extrude inset a ring of faces before that and get even better topology
It all depends on the final usage. He's not using Tris, as you can see he's removing at the end 1 edge every 2 of them, to make them all quad (Diamond shape quad). This is the most common usage for cilinders while being "all quads grid fill" you have no curvature. For example, if you want to make a weapon Bullet Case, you need to use the method on this video, not a grid fill quad.
Could also just inset the top face on the original cylinder then triangulate the center face instead of the bezel and dissolve. You say this is “pro” but its just overcomplicated
Or you can just delete top and bottom of the face, and re fill again with ctrl F and select grid fill
Thats probably the best, the topology still bad because of only one vertice on top and bottom faces.
Я обычно выделяю n-gon, нажимаю i, потом M и центр
Topology bros just make this stuff so much harder 😂
You don't use this cylinder for any actual modelling, it's just for heaven's sake. A topology-good cylinder, nothing more than that
Bro grid fill is better isn't it
or just insert faces. Ngons are fine as long as they're completely flat.
@@Sychyovnope thats still a bad idea if you want to use it for games. U need quads for better texturing

@@dchannel2211Not really
Topology for texturing only really matters around the edges as not enough supporting edges can cause some nasty stretching
Just select that face >extrude >scale >extrude >merge at the center 🗣️
You can let Ngons or tris on flat surfaces
exactly!
You can simply use crease on these edges, and subdivision works perfectly
you're right, everybody hates on creasing for no reason
@@ramalshebl60 What? Never seen anyone hate on crease before. It's just not used often(Or atleast, I don't)

Very bad tutorial, he never showed how to delete default cube.
You are right ☝️
inset + grid fill
Thanks
nice 😊
Amazing
Awesome

Absolutely excellent example. Great content ~ thank you.
Shift + E (1000) resolve isso!
And here i am still wondering how to change the default cube
My cylinders work just fine what
Better use grid fill since tris are not the best choice at subdiv modeling

@@MattproThethanks for the explanation, I wasn't sure what the advantage of this was until you mentioned the bullet
👍
@@MattproTheyou are right, my bad
@@MattproThe😅😅😅😊

if you can create something cool with it with the least vertices possible its good right
Or just hear me out, crease the edge so subd works
saved

Not good, you've got a pole
tf is up with your 3D curser??
there's no bad topology - there's topology for certain use cases. bad video
You watched and commented, W for me 🎉

Bevel
Я применяю бевел. Мне так гораздо проще. Но этот способ я не знала. Его было бы удобно поименять в других задачах. Спасибо😊
ahaha "Pro" tips.
