Elizabeth, I am loving seeing you expand your subject matter! You are a natural at this. It is awesome how clearly your smile can be heard through a voiceover. Idk where I'm going with this, just wanted to spread the positivity!

The new chanel is so exciting! The content you're covering is so interesting and you teach it naturally. It's a bit weird to have this narrated format although we can totally hear you smiling as you're speaking. That makes me wonder, what is it about your voice (and others really) that let us hear a person smile while they talk? I can't wait to see the next cool vocal subject you introduce us to!!

Sounds like a great video idea... The science of expressing emotion in voice, and how your body changes the way it produces sound based on your facial expressions and moods.
I know I'd love to hear one on how to stabilize your voice, as I know mine tends to change daily so I never know what to expect from it. lol

*_Excellent subject matter.... if we are what we eat, we are also what we drink..._*
I'm going to go out on a stretch here...there are many similarities between Human Vocals and Giant Church Organs. Both use Air in ways more similar than different. Both use Air flowing out under pressure to produce Sound. Air flowing in does not produce Sound very well. Humans need Air to survive while Pipe Organs are inanimate objects and can go long periods without Air. Humans also need Water while Pipe Organs do not.
Sound is produced then Air flows over Vocal Cords in Humans and through Brass Pipes with opening in Organs. The size, shape, length, and thickness of Pipes produce different Sounds. In Humans, different Sounds are produced by altering the Vocal Cords and the paths from Lungs past Lips. Organs have many Keys and Foot Pedals connected to many different Pipes to change it's Sound.
Humans can change shape of Vocal Cords, size of Mouth opening, Tongue placement, Lip spread, Air pressure, and other techniques to produce a wide variety of Sounds. One Singer can have hundreds of different pitches, at different volumes, for different periods of time. Changing Keys or Pipes on Organ also produces different pitches, volumes, and lengths.
I learned about your New Channel while watching your review of Lucy Thomas recently on other Channel. You have so much experience and knowledge gained over the years. It is all new to many people, but you are a patient Teacher. Who would have known that Girl from Small Town (Wenatchee) will be huge Success in Opera and Coaching. I'm from Yakima myself. Good things come from small places.
    *_Thanks for the Tips._*
PS: Rock Singers and others have been known to torture their Vocal Cords. Alcohol dehydrates the Body. Smoking irritates Lungs, Throat, and Vocal Cords. Abusing Drugs never improved a person's Singing. Late night parties and lack of sleep can all have a negative effect on Singing. Some big name Rock Stars are still singing after 40 years. Some have cleaned up their Personal Lifestyles while others have not.

My two cents worth on thirst. I have only heard (so trust this discerningly as you would/should anything you hear on the interweb) that a lifestyle of overeating can "train" you body to feel hungry when it is actually thirsty. So if you're like me and tend to snack maybe more often than would be recommended, get a drink of water instead!!! 🚰💦💧

I been wondering about this I noticed when I try to sing when my throats dry the pitch is either off by being too high or too muffled then when I get a drink the pitches sounds clean and beautiful one of my talents is I can almost mimic others artist to the point of where I sound similar to their voice including female voices also IM a man and I can get pretty up there if the software is accurate I got up to a G5 vocal note according to the software then again it could be not accurate

Here along the coast in central CA, we have a large and growing coyote population... Song dogs we called them as kids in New Mexico. They have such a wondrous vocal range and vocabulary, and when they are tossing songs around between packs they remind me of West Side Story, the Sharks and the Jets. I lay in bed at night and listen to them carrousing around the neighborhood taunting each other, looking for loose pets and just generally misbehaving. Would you do an episode on the Song Dogs? We love you and both your channels, but most of all your operatic performances, which give me shivers! 💖🤗

I spent nearly 20 years in one choir. If we were singing a long and hard piece, like The Rutter Requiem or Handel's Messiah, we would secret small water bottles into the loft and at strategic moments take a quick sip (it was considered distasteful in our church to guzzle and entire pint or more of water in the middle of a service, but an 8 ounce bottle was fine if done discretely).

Thank you for this new (er) TH-cam channel for the nerd in me.
I have an unusual question. I have a new favorite rock band, with young men so young I feel motherly toward them instead of having a crush and putting up posters I want to mom them. LOL 😂 Can you analyze the singer’s voice to see if he is protecting his golden rare rock singing tenor voice? And if he has bad technique how can I gently introduce him to you for lessons? Intrusive fan much? You see, I know someone that sang with poor technique in a local band and his voice was destroyed. He can only speak in a whisper now and is not able to sing at all that I know of. The band I’m speaking of that I would’ve for you to analyze is Greta Van Fleet. 🤗💗

yo im 200 lbs, on ethird of that is 66 lbs. 66 lbs converted to fluid ounces is 1,012. also the same as 8 gallons,. idk if the one third thing is the daily recommended, but that seems a little extreme. i workout and do vocals and 8 pounds seems too much. when I ran my weight through a hydration calculator I got 1.2 gallons as the result. overall, for a moderately active person like me, I tink ill shoot for 1 and 1/2 gallons of water. it just seems kinda tough because I also work my job for 8 hours and they wouldn't like if I went to use the restroom too many times.

A few questions: saline = salt; doesn't taht dehydrate?
Electrolytes? Like Gatorade? I thought that was marketing, gonna have to look up what electrolytes are in drinks/body.
    8 x 8oz = 4 bottles-ish, easy enough I suppose but 1/3 of body weight? 4 bottles = 2kg or 4.4 lbs, a 100 lb person drinking 33 lbs of water leaves me wonder if I missed something 🤔

    • @matthewclark4658
      @matthewclark4658 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Electrolytes are just molecules that conduct electricity. Salt doesn’t dehydrate, it pulls the water out of your blood into your tissues. Your nerves operate on a sodium (salt, an electrolyte) potassium (an electrolyte) system to work your muscles. Low electrolytes = low nerve conduction. Which means the muscles react slower and less powerfully. But just like everything you can have too many electrolytes and not enough water, this is dehydration, but conversely you can have too much water and not enough electrolytes. So you have to have a good balance, this is the basis of Gatorade/Powerade/ whichever “sports drink” you prefer.

As an asthmatic, I was aware of nebulizers- quite familiar, actually. I didn't really connect it w/ my vocal abilities really until this video. I recall that I often spoke better afterwards. One point I'd like to make along those lines: I think that many people have little idea of how much air one needs just to speak at all. My last asthmatic issue nearly killed me 16 yrs. ago this month. I still recall how difficult it was to speak. One word answers were the best I could do. It's scary. Perhaps there's a video for you- "How much air does it take to speak/sing?" Hmm. Great & informative video. Bravo!😊
