It also just worked for me. My mechanic with more than $10000 worth of diagnostic tool could not fix the Airbag light, but thankfully I watched this video about this Z3 expert and light was reset successfully. Now I only have left brake light and traction control light to resolve.

I cant thank you enough. A few months ago I bought the exact diagnostic tool that you use in the video. Annoyingly the instructions do not suggest to connect to the OBD1 port and I had been failing to get the device to function. Iv'e struggled so much trying to get this problem solved. Your suggestion to connect to the OBD1 port under the hood fixed the problem immediately. AMAZING !!!

I usually need to reset the airbag once a year using the same tool. I have never found any real reason for the fault indication. I guess it is just a bad construction with some glitches in the fault detection circuit. I usually need to do it to pass the yearly inspection here in Sweden as they will not let a car pass with a faulty airbag. Once I had to do the reset while waiting at the inspection station when the airbag light came on when I started the car to drive there. I have a -99 Topazblue 2.0 here in Sweden, purchased the car in 2001 and use it every year for 6 summer months when the weather permits. Have not had any problems, just change the oil every second year. Now my son drive the car whenever he can and love it. He is younger than the car at 21.

    • @MomentofZed

Love the father and son Zeds! The airbag light is a funny thing. I think part of it is the age of the components that make up the system.

Good luck w/ yours. Have to admit, I don't. I'd take it to a Autozone or other parts store and have them run it on their machine and see what comes up. You may end up having to actually fix the thing. Other option is to return the B800; reorder it and see if the new one will clear it- maybe it's the reader itself.

The error I get when scanning with B800 is 38/02. Looks like it is "Warn Lamp" as per the booklet. What is it and why am I unable to clear the code?

Bartosz- here are two old threads about this same problem- zroadster.org/threads/fault-codes.464/ and www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?2405358-Airbag-light-issue There is a LOT of information in both of these- one that I found interesting in the second thread is the possibility that the manual is wrong (it does warn about that on every page), and you actually have a table 40 fault 2, firing circuit belt tensioner drivers side. I can't diagnose from here of course, and I'm not sure where you are, but if you can get access to a more comprehensive code reader, that might be the way to go. Let me know what happens.

@@MomentofZed Hi: I’d only buy a standard transmission. I walked out the door at $12,355.00. It included a repair on the passenger door and the piece that holds the seat belt in place. They never fixed that. Do you have a video on how to replace the seat belt holder? If so please let me know when you can show it. My Z-3 is forest green. I’m not sure if the motor for the hood is working???

Should I trade a 2002 Yukon with 150,000 miles for a 1999 z3 with 62,000? 5 speed excellent condition. Just wondering if anyone thinks it's a fair trade $ wise. I know the cool factor and rarity are selling points.

I'd check the bluebook on both first. It sounds like good deal, but I'm biased! Plus, do you need to haul stuff or haul a__? 😀
