Spot on analysis of Jo and the Professor!! I love them as a couple and the 2019 Little Women did them both such a disservice.
    My favorite fictional couples:
    1. Marianne and Colonel Brandon - Sense and Sensibility
    2. Jo and Professor Bhaer - Little Women
    3. Leslie and Ben - Parks and Rec
    4. Elizabeth and Darcy - Pride and Prejudice
    5. Bates and Anna - Downton Abbey

I was so happy to see this in my recommendations! You know I'm a Bhaer stan. Knowing Louisa's own dislike on sensationalism and her desire to improve in her craft of course she would give Jo a partner that she would wish to herself, someone who could help her to reach her full potential. I love your description on Darcy, I feel that sometimes people see his awkward behavior as just being a douche (like Elizabeth does at first), knowing that socializing doesnt come naturally to him really makes it easier to understand his character.

I knew you’d be happy seeing Jo and the Professor here 😊 Yes, I feel like in popular imagination, Darcy is this brooding romantic hero who can always handle himself and is a little bit brusque, but that disregards his vulnerability - which actually makes him endearing!

This reminds me that I need to watch more C-Dramas, the Dijun/Fengjiu dynamic totally sounds like my kind of thing. Sounds very star crossed!
You're spot on about the Padme/Anakin dynamic, I love how much you appreciate the sincerity and genuineness in that dynamic, both its pros and its cons. It really strikes me as a story of unconditional love warped into very possessive and co-dependent love.
Anyways, my favorite fictional couples, :P:
    1. Lawrence Talbot & Gwen Conliffe - The Wolfman (2010)
    2. Anakin Skywalker & Padme Amidala - Star Wars
    3. Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn - Harley Quinn: The Animated Series
    4. Holden McNeil & Alyssa Jones - Chasing Amy
    5. Othello & Desdemona - Othello

I would not have expected pride and prejudice! I hope you enjoyed rewatching the series. I like relationships where they complement each other. I know of little women but it has been so long since I have read it and I have yet to see the film. I appreciated hearing you discuss those characters! Always interesting to hear people's opinions on Padme and Anakin's relationship. That is a beautiful way to talk about the loneliness and how it sparks their relationship.

thank you for the analysis! especially for the c-dramas :) my favourite fictional couple are Blair and Chuck in Gossip Girl series: some say they have a toxic relationship but I cannot agree. I see their story more as a constant challenge from one strong person to another, and a story of growing and evolving together as well as separately (both have very strong arcs by themself) the storytelling in this series is in general very solid and often misread

Where are they Paul? Release them, noodle legs, let them go.
