snaketusv Do you think there's any chance we'll get another RE like one of those? Even the Evil Within probably won't capture the same essence. I'd keep my expectations a little grounded.
*First game (RE1):* Realistic scenario for a horror story... Bunch of trained specialised police are out investigating a series of murders and get attacked. They flee to a mansion which turns out to be the source of the problem. Turns out a company has been doing some dangerous micro biology experiments with military applications. One of the team reveals himself as a defector and the plot thickens. *Second game (RE2)*: Extension of the story. 2 new characters are introduced. The outbreak has spread. We learn more about Umberella and a new virus which is related to the one that has infected the city. *Third game (RE3):* Side story essentially of the second. Follows a character from the first game during the time of the second game. *Fourth game (Veronica):* Claire, one of 2 new characters from RE2, goes looking for her brother, Chris from the first game and finds herself on an island which happens to be an umberella lab, run by 2 important members of Umberella's history. She uncovers their past and goes through a bunch of encounters before escaping the island after Leon, the second character from the second game, sends her some intel on her brothers whereabouts with the help of government. Chris turns up and meets Wesker, both characters from the first game, Wesker who was thought to have been killed survived. -------------------- line of tangent / major unrealism -------------------- Wesker now has *superhuman powers* and almost kills Chris, but leaves after Alexia who is his reason for being there. He wants her virus. Chris eventually heads off to find Claire. Alexia is killed and the Ashford family are gone. Chris and Claire escape leaving Wesker behind. *Fifth game (RE4):* A character from the second game, Leon is re-introduced, now being a US government agent (breifly mentioned in Veronica), in spite of never having a single day as a cop, he now works directly for the president and is directly responsible for locating and extracting his daughter in a very remote town somewhere in Spain. The game now has a new control system and more resembles Gears of War in all styles rather than the awesome survival horror theme it once carried. Leon investigates the town which is apparently completely swarming in an abundance of ammo. The villagers also seem to carry a ton of ammo in spite of using pitchforks for weapons and throwing things at you, and are under control of a new virus which has perfect ability to control people with no apparent purpose other than to serve a religious cult. Zombies don't exist and tentacles come out of people's heads when the virus matures. It has no ties to the T-Virus or Umberella whatsoever and was apparently discovered by a religious cult. Funny how one of the original survivors of the T-Virus outbreak just happened to be there investigating something completely unrelated to a virus outbreak in a remote town in Spain, nowhere near the USA when this, the only maor threat to the human populace, surfaces. Leon eventually finds the president's daughter and Wesker turns up and acquires a sample of the new Virus for himself and his new company. The only ties here to the original games are the appearance of Wesker and Ada who heard about the virus and only appear near the end and of course Leon who seems to have been studying martial arts between games. *Sixth game (RE5):* Chris, a character from the first game, now works for an international anti-bio-terrorism group (BSAA) because apparently there are a ton of these viruses and an international group was needed. Chris, has apparently been taking steroids between games and experimenting with gamma radiation to turn himself into the hulk. Turns out that the virus from RE4 still exists and has made its way to Africa for further experimentation. The local populace has been exploited and Chris is sent with a new partner to investigate a new group called Tricell. A new virus was also created by Tricell and 2 viruses now exist, as the parasitic virus from RE4 has also been further developed. A bunch of unmemorable stuff happens and Wesker gets killed after being knocked into a volcano and having half a military arsenal launched at him in a fight (remember, 1 rocket killed the original Tyrant in RE1 and you only found anything that powerful at the end of the game). Wesker's new group, Tricell is shut down. I have not played much of 6 but in terms of gameplay and story, not a lot seems to have changed. As of RE5 the series seems to be going downhill and might as well become a comic book. Here's to hoping the series goes back to roots with 7 before it's too late...
I like RE4, and i recognize it as a great game. But its not the type of Resident Evil i like. RE4 started the downward trend for RE and it became more about action. Resident Evil 2 is the high standard of the series in my humble opinion. Its the main reason i still have my original Playstation so i can play some RE2. And its so good i can still do playthroughs in 2014 and love it. RE4 i overrated, not saying it isn't good but its not the best in the series IMO. Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil Remake for GameCube are my personal favorites.
@CatXFlash oddly enough that is something i bitched about quite a bit and forgot to add into this since i was just thinking of shit off the top of my head lol but very true its frustrating to have to stop aim shoot then run and repeat
@CatXFlash Because it adds a unique challenge to the gameplay. You have observe the enviroment and where the enemies, your partner and yourself are, then make a quick judgement and choose the spot that gives you the advantage. It also forces you to aim carefully but quickly before the enemy catches up to you, so you make your shots count. A game can still be challenging without that movement limitation, but it would be a different experience and without the gameplay uniqueness that it gives.
Man I'd like to see his response to RE6. If 5 was too much, 6 was a full on action game. Also, I wonder what he thought of SH Downpour. I thought that was an extremely refreshing game.
Have you tried out Lost in nightmares? If you like resident evil then you're propably gonna like. it's got a shit ton of refferences to the old games from the piano scene, the mansion design to even the fixed camera angles at points. Hell it's even got a monsters that gave me a scare at first (in a hunter kinda way). Though I must edmit you propably listed all my requests on what Re6 should have and since capcom is so good with retro styled games I think where gonna get a scary RE some day.
@Lampa9191 ...So it does not really make sense that in number six the President is going to reveal what happened when it was already known. Also Umbrella is all of a sudden just gone like that due to slight story telling, while non of the characters did anything to Umbrella, even though they were building up to that point at the end of every game. Then in number five, all of a sudden this BSAA is around that Chris has been part of. Jill is now dead, even though she really is not...
My Gripes with the current RE games is the simple fact that as a player I'm not that intrigued to go to the next section of the game or very engaged to fight for survival when i can just hit a checkpoint and respawn. The enemies in RE4/5 are sorely lacking that tension i got back in the PSX days when a zombie would gnaw and chomp on my character with visible gore. RE4/5's enemies cower at my weapons and follow the same animations to a point where i just go through the motions picking them off.
@Lampa9191 Okay, again, I wanted to use the word "jump" I flipped the words "the" and "they". Anyway. At the end of every classic Resident Evil game. The characters always mention taking down Umbrella. Then the credits role. So it seem like there will be some big showdown of them wiping Umbrella out. Then in the beginning of number four Leon states how the indecent went public and that the President halted Umbrella's business...
I have to say, they completely nailed the re-release of REmake. The touches they added to it brought it right up to date and made it the scary, tense survival horror it once was again.
Wats your take on the new resident evil game due out in 2012? Idk if its true but threw the grape vine ive heard its returning to its roots, just wanted your take on the whole thing because like u im also a big horror fan.
We should have 2 separate RE series. One with Leon which is action like RE4 and one with Chris Redfield or another original character which is survival horror like RE2.
what would make everyone happy is if they released a resident evil classic package, including resident evil gamecube remake in HD for the xbox and ps3, res2 remake and 3 remake, in one package
I remember Re 2 and 3 ... how awesome and tense those games were ... how they captured the feeling of a zombie apocalypse ... and now we have a shitty C-grade action movie "michael Bay style" ... RIP Resident Evil , u was awesome ...
Keep up the rants bro, cuz i feel the same way... After resident evil code veronica, they really took a gamble with the series... but your rite, they went a whole other direction that isn't resident evil. I will say, i loved the new aiming system and camera view, that i liked but if they kept zombies it would've been an amazing game!! keep it up man, you got yourself a new subscriber ^^
CV got rid of the static backgrounds and the characters still moved the same in 4, it's just the camera was different to disguise their movements. But I am so thankful that you don't just view 4 as like the best thing ever like so many other people do for some odd reason. Though I do want Steve back considering that there's a ton of potential with him and the T-Veronica Virus and stuff.
You said what I wanted to say, but the mastermind of Resident Evil (Shinji Mikami)is no longer working with Capcom over some reasons, I forgot. That's why Resident Evil has not been the same. That's why the recent RE (RE5, Umbrella Chronicles, and Darkside Chronicles) series are way different, because he left. I only own 0-Code Veronica, have not played outbreak yet.
with resident evil 4 it has action and its survival horror sorta what they done with revelations also its pretty scary you can't tell me that the chainsaw guys didn't scare you every time they showed up.
@IR4ID4IR definitely. thats the thing i like the gameplay they have right now but the setting in general and the monsters are not resident evil feeling.
RE4 was not survival Horror.. Other than the Flaming Oven Man.. Nothing else was scary. RE4.. New sheme that revolutionized gaming.. that was its Zenith.. It had no where to go after that.. So atleast in 6.. The control scheme was updated to max out on SURVIVING.. Doing things you will do in ORDER TO SURVIVE.
I fully agree with what you said, dude. What I really wanted for the next Resident Evil game which is RE6, is that we're fighting and running from zombies trying to feast the living hell of me, not from mind-controlled people with guns reading to shot my asses. By the way, I will be your new subscriber!
I do, however, like the exploration aspect. I didn't mind the part where I have to think about either fighting or running. Not every game has to be run and gun. Oh wait, you can't even do that since you have to stand still to shoot.
Alpha, you know what I honestly don't understand? Why the hell did they make the Playstation mouse compatible with Clocktower, but not the Snes mouse compatible with Clocktower for the Snes? I've tried to use the Snes mouse on it, but not a damn thing. =.=
@Lampa9191 Then they show how Chris and Jill were partners for the BSAA before and found there way to the Spence Estate. Then confronted Wesker again. They could have made 5 the story of how Chris and Jill joined the BSAA, then going to the Spencer Estate, and the end of the game showing Jill's death. That would have have been an interesting game and an interesting cliffhanger. But no, they shoved it into some DLC. Then they throw in a bunch of random files to make it make sense.
Alpha I need your help. I have been playing the classic true RE games over and over. Crapcom is not going to the original core game. I need a new game to play that I would enjoy and get a feel of the old RE games. Do you have any games or series suggestions?
I will never forget the forget the time in RE4 where I was caged in with the giant guy with claws, having 1 handgun ammo and 5 shotgun shells. I almost wet myself
Deep Fear on the Sega Saturn is a nice RE-clone, also have Blue Stinger and Carrier on Dreamcast. I highly recommend Deep Fear if you are into the original RE-games.
I know i'm a bit late on this. But Resident Evil 4 came out out 2 years before Gear of War. And your zombies are coming back VERY soon. I'm looking forward to your rant on Operation Raccoon City and Resident Evil 6 later on.
They should keep the graphics they are working on, keep some of the mechanics of the newer ones (like the upgraded melee) and put the camera angels back into it. I swear, I miss the camera angles more than anything... Nothing is more scary than walking towards a camera down a hallway, only for the camera to swap behind you and reveal you are running towards a swarm
Resident evil is by far my all time favorite game series, up until RESIDENT EVIL 4 of course when they completely dumbed it down and created the new play stile. Granted I still liked 4 and 5, they just aren't really resident evil . I haven't even played 6 since I heard zombies have guns..
the problem is when the games evolve in the worse direction losing everything that made them special in exchange of what the creators think (but doesn't mean it will) make more money take the Mario example: they have changed a lot but is still the same concept, you go around in platform level to reach the boss and save the princess, the graphics changed, the controls changed, same games are now in 3D, but in the end is still the same
You made a lot of valid points but what I think Capcom is doing is letting Silent Hill take the crown because who ever at Capcom was in charge with the horror is gone lol
To further my point on RE4.. It still has you planning out areas, deciding if you should use up ammo or just run, it still has slow, panicky and intense situations, it still has slow moving, brainless "zombies" that pile onto you (no, they aren't the living dead, but they're the essence of what makes a zombie a zombie).. it has EVERY element from the past RE games, just with a few more action oriented segments (like RE 2 didn't have those). Unlike RE5 and 6, which stripped everything away.
Hey man Ive been watching your stuff for a while and I enjoy it, I have a question why are the RE films so successful? is it because of milla jovovich or because RE fans are so loyal to the series that they will eat it up despite how bad the movies are, because by now this question has been bothering me.. also do you think game movies can be done if they are handed to the right people. Cuz George Romero would have made the film before they fired him for no reason.
@dave19711998 Well in 28 days later, they are pretty much just fast zombies or "the enraged". That's a realy cool concept, probably would be major pain in the ass to get attacked by those in the game, but they aren't realy the enemies we see in RE4/RE5. In those games we see like slow humans with guns attacking you, that's more in the direction of the old school zombies and actually farther away from the ones in 28 days later.
@AlphaOmegaSin Hmm... Well RE 2&3&CV did have action elements as far as weapons goes! And whole Wesker fight scene thing did start with Code Veronica! If RE 2,3,cv were over the shoulder would it be so different from RE 4? minus Las Plagas of course!
To be honest there are two characters i want to see return the most. Billy Coen, and the guy from resident evil survivor. The only reason i want steve to return is because if he DOES end up returning, he will have wesker-esque super powers. if he went from a wishy washy bitch to a tough as nails mercenary, i would be happy that they implemented him as a character in the first place cause it would almost make him being in code veronica worth it.
@Willynka It has nothing to do with game age, the psx was perfectly capable of handling good inventory systems in other games. Key items sharing space with regular items is bad gameplay design because there are lots of them and you don't know which you are gonna need until you get to the part where they are needed. This Forces you to make a guess, then realizing you picked the wrong one, having to backtrack all the way back to the container to switch, and then return. That's annoying, not scary.
remember sherry berkin? what happened to her? last I heard wesker had her captive or something. Now that he's dead (worst mistake capcom made) what happens to her now?
@heavymetalman707 I know. I'm getting within this in the following week I heard about it a lot but I never bothered until now because I think I should get it, beat it (possibly several times) then get the sequel when the price drops a bit. thanks for looking out for a fellow gamer though. Still a lot of the main parts of survival horror is dying and a lot of the original survival horror series(s) have been screwed up and are dying. good luck to you in the future my friend and fellow gamer.
They need to say 4 and 5 never happened. Go back to the end of 3, and then make 4 and make it make sense. I don't know, maybe say the helicopter broke due to the bomb going off, lands in the outskirts of town. Something like that.
I agree the ps1 resident evil's were so good and my childhood, I personally did not like 5 at all, 4 was alright, and I enjoyed 6, but they really need to get back to the basics of whst resident evil really is
S.T.A.R.S= Special Tactics And Rescue Squad, and i agree with you wholeheartedly. I love the old resident evil games, and i do like 4 alot too, but 5 was just lacking. I dont want bullets flying at me, i want zombies trying to eat my brains out. I would also like to see the element of surprise come back as well, in some part of RE2 you were just like holy shit what was that!? I loved that feeling.
but u know what really pisses me off, is that after 0 and the remake , they did not continue to remake the others at least 2 and 3 , since in the re 1 remake they give u jill's re 3 costume and it looks so good graphic wise , and in 0 u get to visit the re 2 underground labs ,but there sealed off for some reason what a tease! Thanks Capcom...
@AlphaOmegaSin I am honestly a little nervous about it, I hope they don't turn it into a first person shooter or a third person cover based game (like they almost did with RE5) or some other stupid shit like that. Whisper: They where gonna turn Devil May Cry 5 intro a 3rd person shooter until Ninja Theory got their hands on the project.
Im subscribing to this man, fuck he actually brings to light all the things that I think but don't say! Every word is true. Resident Evil 4 was fun, but not Resident Evil fun
Hey AlphaOmegaSin I really like to ask can you make a video about your though about Resident Evil Revelations?? i like to heard your though from that game is going be surivival Horror game :) can you plZ plz take my request?
I actually kinda don't mind the way Resident Evil is going. I played all the RE games from the start, and I think I invested more time into RE5 than into any of the other games. I love playing Mercenaries with my friends and shit like that, I love playing as my favorite characters that I know since like 1997. It's awesome, but I understand how people don't like it. I think that, even though I loved the old games, games like that wouldn't sell too good these days.
Just like your silent hill rant I agree with 100% of EVERYTHING you say, everything. In both rants you hit it RIGHT ON THE MONEY with what my opinions are, and I'm sure nearly every other loyal fan that got into the series at the time of the originals. Amazingly true point, resident evil isn't an action game..it's survival horror which was unfortunately butchered and dumbed down
@AlphaOmegaSin (I apologize if I'm extending this comment too much, it's hard to put your all likes and gripes about a entire series in only a couple paragraphs). I prefer when music, environment, etc. makes you feel creeped out for several minutes straight, you know something's coming and you think you're prepared for it, but you're still scared shitless when it finally happens. I wish they would take all the good things from 1-V and 4&5 and mix them together properly to make the perfect game.
Y'know what would be cool? pleasing both audiences, by doing this all they would have to do is give you the option to be able to play classic or modern camera angles, im not a programmer but im sure doing this would keep both old school and new players happy, and obviously get rid of the plagas having guns and shit
Try out the original clock tower on ps1, that game is scarier than hell. if you can play it with the ps1 mouse if you manage to snag one up, makes controlling the game ten times easier
Honestly, the story does it for me. I love the Umbrella conspiracy. The controls were shit in the old games but in my opinion that makes them even more terrifying. I think that RE is just growing wether we like it or not. I love all of them.
@AlphaOmegaSin Then in 5 they tossed out the great inventory system and used the one from Outbreak, then babysit an A.I. partner, which I have yet to see work in a game anywhere. Of course, they also recycled the enemies from 4, how much effort did they really put in that game? As a whole though, the series has been scary, but only because of cheap boo scares, the unexpected will scare anybody a bit. Last Comment...
S,T,A,R,S = Special Tactics And Rescue Service I actually read the manual to the Resident Evil remake for the Game cube awhile back and still remember it for some reason.
I think Rese 5 could have been a really good game if they would have got rid of the forced co op and actually had a variety of atmospheres in the game. In Rese 4 all of the levels looked different and were memorable. I cant even remember what happened in Rese 5 because it is so generic.
ok resedent evil 1 2 3 and code veronica were directed by shinji mikami the original developer and creator of RESEDENT EVIL and zombie games in general but capcom went out to kick that epic director out and let the Resedent evil fall in to the ground :)
the enemies from 4 where fun to fight and kill the enemies from 5 even though there the same ultimatly ruined it. they should have brought zombies back for 5 and leave the ganados only to 4 well in in my opinion
I think Capcom should seriously take some influence from Dead Space. It basically has the same mechanics and engine that RE4 and 5 do but DS is actually scary.
Resident Evil Revelations seemed like a good combination of both generations of the RE games.
But wasn't still nowhere as good as the old ones, the ones before RE4.
snaketusv Do you think there's any chance we'll get another RE like one of those? Even the Evil Within probably won't capture the same essence. I'd keep my expectations a little grounded.
OptiumusMagnum resident evil 7
Still not as tense or as scary as REmake, IMO.

+Dale Doback RE2 is overrated too.
Lol no
+Walamonga 1313 no if it was overrated then we would have so many damn ports
Haku Yuki Bad choice of words. It is more like overappreciated (nostalgia), not overrated.
I still love Captom, I really do. I just hope they get their act together and start making the right choices.
@CatXFlash

Anybody hear anything about the new RE 6 yet! ive seen the concept art for the title, its suppose to come out late this year, not sure tho!
That's what I say to Resident Evil is really important to us so Capcom listen to fans like us and fix the problem
@c1gangsoldia What you think about resident evil revelations???
Agreed 100%.
Fuck Capcom. All they care about is greed/profit.
The series did much better when Shinji was on the team.
@IR4ID4IR
definitely. thats the thing i like the gameplay they have right now but the setting in general and the monsters are not resident evil feeling.
Yo! What track was that right at the beginning? That was awesome!
There was nurses in Silent Hill one as well, but they looked different.
@AlphaOmegaSin, Would you want Sherry Berkin to come back?
also when will you do a part 2 of you playing resident evil.
Have you played resident evil 2 remake, aos?
I fully agree with what you said, dude. What I really wanted for the next Resident Evil game which is RE6, is that we're fighting and running from zombies trying to feast the living hell of me, not from mind-controlled people with guns reading to shot my asses.
By the way, I will be your new subscriber!
Man your awesome i'll always LIKE and subscribe your cool Videos long live ALPHAOMEGASIN Your a true LEGEND
I do, however, like the exploration aspect. I didn't mind the part where I have to think about either fighting or running. Not every game has to be run and gun. Oh wait, you can't even do that since you have to stand still to shoot.
I miss Resident Evil 2, it was my first Resident Evil.
PS: They are doing a reboot of this series, it was announced, but we didn't see anything yet.
I hear the Alchemy Labs from Lament of Innocence in your intro. Could it be...?
I will never forget the forget the time in RE4 where I was caged in with the giant guy with claws, having 1 handgun ammo and 5 shotgun shells. I almost wet myself
Deep Fear on the Sega Saturn is a nice RE-clone, also have Blue Stinger and Carrier on Dreamcast. I highly recommend Deep Fear if you are into the original RE-games.
What do you think of RE6? Which is has supposed to bring back zombies?
I know i'm a bit late on this. But Resident Evil 4 came out out 2 years before Gear of War. And your zombies are coming back VERY soon. I'm looking forward to your rant on Operation Raccoon City and Resident Evil 6 later on.
I'm re-playing all classic Resident Evil games because i love zombies, keys, herbs , ink ribbon, item box, tyrants and RPD police station .
I haven't even played 6 since I heard zombies have guns..
the problem is when the games evolve in the worse direction losing everything that made them special in exchange of what the creators think (but doesn't mean it will) make more money
take the Mario example: they have changed a lot but is still the same concept, you go around in platform level to reach the boss and save the princess, the graphics changed, the controls changed, same games are now in 3D, but in the end is still the same
You made a lot of valid points but what I think Capcom is doing is letting Silent Hill take the crown because who ever at Capcom was in charge with the horror is gone lol
@heavymetalman707 I know.
I'm getting within this in the following week
I heard about it a lot but I never bothered until now because I think I should get it, beat it (possibly several times) then get the sequel when the price drops a bit.
thanks for looking out for a fellow gamer though.
Hey brother, what is your opinion on Billy Coen?
@AlphaOmegaSin I am honestly a little nervous about it, I hope they don't turn it into a first person shooter or a third person cover based game (like they almost did with RE5) or some other stupid shit like that.
Whisper: They where gonna turn Devil May Cry 5 intro a 3rd person shooter until Ninja Theory got their hands on the project.
Im subscribing to this man, fuck he actually brings to light all the things that I think but don't say! Every word is true. Resident Evil 4 was fun, but not Resident Evil fun
Well Resident evil operation raccoon city is coming out this year and it's based at the same time as Re 3
Hey AlphaOmegaSin I really like to ask
can you make a video about your though about Resident Evil Revelations??
i like to heard your though from that game
is going be surivival Horror game :)
can you plZ plz take my request?
how do you feel about raccoon city?
ada wong had good cutscences in re4? am i right?
i glad to say the RE6 is bringing back the RE material back i already pre-ordered it at GameStop and i've watched all E3 trailers. high hopes for RE6
@CatXFlash I hate pressing 2 buttons to run. Who wants to walk around when ur surronded by monsters
Do a rant on the Resident Evil Movies please i want to hear you opinon please?
I love Carlos xD He's one of my favourite characters xD
@EvilRyuGuy u wud have loved the re4 inventory system . 9 slots on re 5 u say? Try 50 slots on re 4 !
I wonder how much you liked 6?
I want Barry back too so he can almost make me a Jill sandwich! :D
As a diehard fan of the classic REs, I completely agree.
I love all of them.
shindukess, also look into silent hill 1 and alone in the dark - a new nightmare
I just posted 2 comments directly below this, but one thing resident evil did right was keep the original characters.. At least be thankful for that.
S,T,A,R,S = Special Tactics And Rescue Service
I actually read the manual to the Resident Evil remake for the Game cube awhile back and still remember it for some reason.
well, resident evil 4 and 5 are puzzle games if you think about it
arranging your items is a puzzle within itself
but that is it
@TheSorrow696 is it resident evil operation raccoon city and no it is a spin off of re2 and 3
It's sad, it honestly is. I just hope somebody will swoop in, buy the rights, and give us some hope for the future...
I think Rese 5 could have been a really good game if they would have got rid of the forced co op and actually had a variety of atmospheres in the game. In Rese 4 all of the levels looked different and were memorable. I cant even remember what happened in Rese 5 because it is so generic.
I love your videos!
ok resedent evil 1 2 3 and code veronica were directed by shinji mikami the original developer and creator of RESEDENT EVIL and zombie games in general but capcom went out to kick that epic director out and let the Resedent evil fall in to the ground :)
the enemies from 4 where fun to fight and kill the enemies from 5 even though there the same ultimatly ruined it. they should have brought zombies back for 5 and leave the ganados only to 4 well in in my opinion
I think Capcom should seriously take some influence from Dead Space. It basically has the same mechanics and engine that RE4 and 5 do but DS is actually scary.
