@jimmyelgringito then why does snake eater which uses the same cart size not charge the extra $10?Also if this were the case with cart costs then we would have seen the same practice nes, snes sega, gbc, gba, neo geo etc when they would have to manufacture a cart with more space to accomodate the additional data. only common practice i see is capcom finding an additional way to charge people for something yet again
@CommandingCommando he was talking about capcum saying they need to to raise the price since its two disk, and I said; forza 4 still charged the same amount for 2 disk
I hope you just felt the digital high five I gave you, but you nailed this spot on. I read in an article that Capcom said, "Consumers will get a console experience from a handheld game". Seriously Capcom? I remember getting a console experience out of GOW: GOS and Sony didn't charge extra. Capcom has no shame in showing it true colors now and they are going to run wild with this shit now. I'm also looking forward to this title, but now i'm thinking that I should wait for a price drop.
0:55 why does that make me fill like when the Capcom buildings are abandoned the ghost hunters will be going through the halls and hear "herp derp derp derp derp derp" Lol it will be like. What was that. Sounds like the CEO is still here. Or a new employee or reporter are walking through the halls 'herp derp derp derp derp derp" Lol I don't know why but it makes me laugh every single time.
hey alphaomegasin, i just happened upon your videos today, and for some reason i really enjoy your rants, i think it's because we both do that sarcastic tone when getting a point across.
Adam Italiano Even 3ds games are usually $70... Well at least they had the sense to make pokemon X and Y $60 each, but thats still a fair bit of money considering I bought both on launch day (yeah, I like pokemon, deal with it if you don't and if you do then you're awesome).
I was fucking delighted to grab up Revelations a little while ago at a pawn shop for ten bucks, Gamestop's still got it priced used for like $40. Bastards.
@smashlover9 that's honestly the first time i even heard of the games having a price hike like that between canada and the states. i was always under the impression that the games in both countries cost the same 0_o
You can buy a 4 GB SD card or flash drive for 40 dollars. They went over. Also, you get a free case with a preorder which is basically worth 10 dollars as they price it over 11. But if you dont preorder its not worth it at all.
That's not completely true. They were already greedy about 1993, when they brought out a "new" Streetfighter 2 for the Super Nintendo every Year, that was almost the same game. Just more speed or new colours and they charged full price for it.
What's more insane is that The Mercenaries 3D is 19.99, same price as RE Rev and the value of Mercs is just crap, I complete it in 4 hours. The raid mode nested in Rev is better
There is a list that shows how much each capacity 3DS card costs for 3rd parties. The HC 3DS cards do cost more. How much more I don't know but they do charge more for 3rd parties to use them. This is the reason why countless DS RPG's, upon release, had cost more than the maximum suggested retail because they use the highest capacity game cards the system supports.
@smashlover9 Well I went out to get Fable day 1 with a friend and they all cost 60, everywhere including online. Same with with LA Noire. Was no price hike for them here
XD @ this "Late last year we announced the console-sized adventure that is Resident Evil Revelations would arrive on a 4GB card instead of the standard 2GB card; this increase in memory size led to an increase in price as well, raising the retail cost to $49.99. And while we're confident in the game's value at that price (and the reviews reflect that sentiment as well), we're also exceedingly pleased to say that after weeks of effort, we've been able to lower the price to $39.99." - Capcom
After cancelling Legends 3, any bullshittery Capcom decides to pull comes as no surprise to me. It's crazy how I went from loving Capcom to completely and totally hating them within a span of 2 months.
i got this game when the price went down to 20 or 30 bucks... the only reason I waited was because I literally could not find the game anywhere for like six months...
It's definitely BS, it doesn't cost so much more that it warrants charging the consumer extra. Amazon was offering this game for preorder at $40 but have since changed back to $50.
I agree with you Alpha. The fact that they are charging extra just because of the size is like saying most Final Fantasy games that are 3 disks should cost $20 more than a regular XBOX360 or PS3 game. They are being assholes about it.
4GB is not about the size of the data. A DVD costs maybe 35 cents to manufacture and yet they charge you $50 for the game. It's not the media, it's the content. So even if they add an extra GB more than a normal game, that means the staff had to spend more time making the models, programming, planning, checking, ect. You're paying for the extra man hours that went into the extra work, not the media.
I hear that, i been playing outbreak file 1 and 2. Next up is code veronica then it's on to REmake and Zero. Maybe a dash of 2 and 3 but i played those sooooo much in the past.
Every time i watch one of your videos i see a epic title from my childhood. This time around it was Zombies ate my neighbors! WOOT! Office level at the end lol. Idk why that sticks out in my brain...
Look at it this way, a cd rom that a ps2 game is made on is worth pennies, the actual disk is worthless, what you are paying for is the experience on the disk and all the expenses that the company used to create the content, even overtime hour spent designing new stuff for the game is their explanation why you are paying 40$-100$+ for a disc that is almost worthless. If they are talking about a small bit of extra storage, they could mean the effort it takes to fill that storage up.
Mortal Kombat and MGS HD Collection come on 4GB cards for the Vita and cost about 39.99. Golden Abyss is 44.99 which is a dick move but so far no standard vita game is 49.99 that I know of.
The games are not on flash cards, think of them as hard coded, almost like hardware you install on your motherboard. But your point is still somewhat valid.
The 360 Analogy is pretty good, actually. For example, if LA Noire, which was a huge release and had no games like it to compete with, they just said "Oh, it's 2 extra discs in there, so that's $10 more bucks." I'ts complete bullshit, and the worst part is if Capcom gets away with it this time, they'll do it again and again.
So did I,It's basically like this : Dice employee : Alright,we're making Battlefield 3 fair and skill-based,like the previous titles EA Manager : Fuck that shit ! Make some weapons that kill on one hit and make it Premium Only !
nowadays but no, just because they kept on remaking street fighter 2 doesn't mean they are money hungry. they were still developing games like megaman 4-8, the megaman X series, & the resident evil trilogy, puzzle fighter, street fighter alpha, & much much more. until like at the end of 2010 they stop developing games & sell there gaming series to other companies. like the DMC series.
In all honesty guys, capcom is treating their audience like addicts. If you love resident evil so much, they could do anything and everything to piss you off, but you'll still buy it because you want your resident evil fix. There has to be a time, in which you just say to yourself, no I'm not going to buy it. Capcom is literally leading the forefront in the competitive fighting game community, and its probably where they make their money. Unless people actually stand up and say no cont.
Just wait and buy a used one and give Capcom the finger by not giving them any money. I agree. The game companies are starting to alienate their customer base, by over charging them for minor improvements, or things that should be in the game to begin with.
I think their argument with the 4 gig flash drive is not that the drive is expensive, its that they must have so much content in the game, they spent so many more hours developing and paying developers to add more content, that it filled all that much space. Like claiming say, if a regular game has 2 gigs, and has 30 hours of gaming included, all the story and side stuff included, then capcom went way above and did twice that much to fill 4 gigs. This only works if the game is amazing, and long
Well the thing is, the 1st Mass Effect was more about RPG elements then the cover system. While Mass Effect 3 was WAY more about the cover system then it was an RPG (In fact i bought the Trilogy and playing through each game, you can feel a huge atmosphere difference just because of this). Plus in Mass Effect 3 they gave you the option to turn-off decision making and the level system all together (pretty much making it a Third Person Shooter. like GoW)
all capcom has to do is put out resident evil game out and it attracts kids like its candy. my point is why over charge for one resident evil game when every single new resident evil game gets bought very easily.
Ummmmmm I bought a 25 GB SD card for 10 bucks brand new. I could download that game 6 times over, and still have space left on the card. TEN GOD DAMN DOLLARS.
@bumhunter2282 Basically,it is a 2nd circle pad mad by Nintendo that makes your 3DS ugly and not that portable, the thing is it isn't even needed you can use the touch screen or gyroscope, but Capcom wanted it to be made.
So your telling me that capcom says its okay to charge 10 extra dollars for a 4gig handheld game that after release last about 8 hours, yet konami can fit the entirety of SNAKE EATER which last nearly twice as long with new features, polished character models, and cutscenes perfectly intact, for the standard price? I dont know how big mgs3 is exactly but I know it has to be something I mean this is metal gear were talking about here. MG games usually use up a lot of space.
it starts with this, soon every game will do this, because people will see that this kind of robbery makes money... so other companies will follow suit.
well companies like atlus and nisa have always made games with innovate and even risky gameplays, style art and yet they never have tried to suck their costumers money with DLC or going into the "safe path" like you said,i wish more companies focus on their costumers rather than their wallets
this brings me back to a time where I read something on somebody trying to pull something off along the lines of having only one save file and that's it.. Who tried doing this? I can't remember
I think Axelay on the SNES should have been $20, because it's a small game that takes 45 minutes to complete, and Final Fantasy 3 should have been $500, because it's a huge game that takes 30+ hours to complete... That makes sense to me lol
No, I was testing if you new of non-mainstream games. And I dont follow the crowd for I play games like ratchet and clank, jak and daxter and sly cooper. Have you heard of those games?
It really bothers me that some people actually defend Capcom. Its like they don't realize the people behind the company could give a two shits about what you consider a good game to be or what is fair. If they think it will make money they couldn't care less. Those investing in the company don't care about video games nearly as much as we do, but they have a say in what games get made and how much they sell out.
A 3DS game should NOT cost that much money. There have been countless people complaining about this, and I think that it shouldn't be purchased at launch. If it sells well at this price, other companies might jump on that bandwagon and raise their prices as well.
I still don't understand how people can bitch at EA & Activision, yet will still come to rally behind Capcom's defense. Don't get me wrong, EA & Activision does fucked up things too, but no where near the level that Capcom does. Capcom has broken of the ending to a game to sell as dlc, charge for cheat codes, charge for demos to games that they eventually cancel like Mega Man Legends 3, and unlike Call of Duty Capcom literally does re-release the same game over and over and over again.
I can get a 4g flash drive at Walmart for $8. Capcom's reasoning is invalid. Good thing the price is now set at $40. I just wish Capcom would fucking learn for once in it's life.
You are probably right they just want the extra $10. However if the game is bigger the cost of the extra flash memory is not the only extra cost they have. It also costs more to develop the extra material. But you are they are just exploiting the market.
I really hope they make up for those 10 extra dollars by putting a shitton of extra content in the game. Really using that extra space. But it's Capcom we're talking about. I'm not so sure...
Capcom have literally sunk to a new low. Their greed is their ultimate downfall. I pray that someone out there who's so die-hard of their fave Capcom franchise...will pay'em a visit at Capcom's Euro, US & Japanese branches...& apply ALOT of C4...& level their asses to ground zero. Hell, I would...wouldn't you?
Crapcom needs to knock off the bullshit. It's really starting to get old, and it's really sad to see a awesome game company like Capcom turn into a bunch of dicks who apparently love pissing off their fans just so they can laugh in their faces. Yeah, charging extra for a 4GB flash-card is bullshit.
Agreed. Remember how many Ps1 games had like 4 disks?! Those were the same price as single disk games.
Touch My Katamari: $29.99
Army Corps Of Hell: $39.99
Uncharted: Golden Abyss: $59.99
W...T...F...
I agree with you Alpha. Sadly, this $10 price increase will bring the game out reach for some gamers.
@smashlover9 when did fable cost 70? It retailed brand new for 60. the limited edition cost more but that was all.
@CommandingCommando he was talking about capcum saying they need to to raise the price since its two disk, and I said; forza 4 still charged the same amount for 2 disk

The best solution would be to buy the game used, as long as you can wait a few weeks, you get to play it still and Capcom don't get your money.
hey alphaomegasin, i just happened upon your videos today, and for some reason i really enjoy your rants, i think it's because we both do that sarcastic tone when getting a point across.
Mate in Australia (where I live) a hand halt game is the same as a ps3 and xbox game brand new $80
that sucks bro
With PS4/Xb1 being $100 for EACH GAME (new from EB games at least, cheaper from JB-HIFI for whatever reason)
TheEpicFollowerBeta yeah at lest i get discounts with a eb world card but we should pay chper
Adam Italiano Even 3ds games are usually $70... Well at least they had the sense to make pokemon X and Y $60 each, but thats still a fair bit of money considering I bought both on launch day (yeah, I like pokemon, deal with it if you don't and if you do then you're awesome).
TheEpicFollowerBeta true

How many gb can the carts on the 3ds hold anyway? Someone told me 32gb but the seemed a little too out of this world so I guessed about 8gb.
There is a list that shows how much each capacity 3DS card costs for 3rd parties. The HC 3DS cards do cost more. How much more I don't know but they do charge more for 3rd parties to use them. This is the reason why countless DS RPG's, upon release, had cost more than the maximum suggested retail because they use the highest capacity game cards the system supports.
the only reason that i can think of is that they couldn't be bothered to borrow an existing factory that makes cards and set up there own.
@smashlover9 Well I went out to get Fable day 1 with a friend and they all cost 60, everywhere including online. Same with with LA Noire. Was no price hike for them here
XD @ this

After cancelling Legends 3, any bullshittery Capcom decides to pull comes as no surprise to me.
It's crazy how I went from loving Capcom to completely and totally hating them within a span of 2 months.
in japan all games have different prices depending on development costs
i got this game when the price went down to 20 or 30 bucks... the only reason I waited was because I literally could not find the game anywhere for like six months...
It did very shortly when it was originally released...
and I forgot blaming the megaman cancellations on the fans of the series. so 11 strikes.
can you read? i said "3DS cartridges can hold up to 8gb...so twice as much as this game". which game did he talk about? resident evil, which had 4gb.
It's definitely BS, it doesn't cost so much more that it warrants charging the consumer extra. Amazon was offering this game for preorder at $40 but have since changed back to $50.
it depends on the cost of the circle pad as well as the cartridge doesnt it.
If anyone wants to buy it at true standard price pick it up off amazon for the preorder price of $39.99
I agree with you Alpha. The fact that they are charging extra just because of the size is like saying most Final Fantasy games that are 3 disks should cost $20 more than a regular XBOX360 or PS3 game. They are being assholes about it.

Every time i watch one of your videos i see a epic title from my childhood. This time around it was Zombies ate my neighbors! WOOT! Office level at the end lol. Idk why that sticks out in my brain...
he made a whole capcom rant playlist lol.
BUT, capcom has to buy the licensed 4gb cartridges from nintendo. That's why it costs so much more for a 4gb 3DS cart than for 4gb of flash memory.
He's talking about the 3ds version....

MW3 in the UK is £10 more for the game. £55 for MW3 and other games are £45
So did I,It's basically like this :
Dice employee : Alright,we're making Battlefield 3 fair and skill-based,like the previous titles

Shin Megami Tensei 4 for the DS is 50 bucks but then again you get a slew of stuff when buying it including a strategy guide and soundtrack cd.

Nah, the dodge system was okay. What it needed was a delete file feature.
Well, I don't have that many games from Activision, so I can't tall.
yea it dosent cost that much to put extra memory but the extra work is what they are talking about
I don't think even Phoenix Wright can convince me that Capcom is innocent of bullshitting us loyal customers!
but then again... how would they become used?
I think their argument with the 4 gig flash drive is not that the drive is expensive, its that they must have so much content in the game, they spent so many more hours developing and paying developers to add more content, that it filled all that much space. From what I read it was due it having 4gb cartridge to handle the data. I see no reason to complain about .

I downloaded my copy for €10 through Xbox live in a sale back in August of 2014.
I wonder how long before C(r)apcom starts charging a monthly fee for single player games to be able to even work
No, I was testing if you new of non-mainstream games. And I dont follow the crowd for I play games like ratchet and clank, jak and daxter and sly cooper. Have you heard of those games?
Everybody should know by now that Capcom is nothing but a Money Vampire.
I know. Years ago Capcom was one of my favorite companies, but no more.
A 3DS game should NOT cost that much money. There have been countless people complaining about this, and I think that it shouldn't be purchased at launch. If it sells well at this price, other companies might jump on that bandwagon and raise their prices as well.

Only costs £2 more than usual in the UK, bit weird
I thought is was because the Circle Pad Pro was bundled with it.Guess not.
@gqunit69 Pretty much. It's not like this sort of thing doesn't have a precedent--just not yet for the 3DS, mostly due to its fairly small library.
the plastic for the cart costs more than the flash on it.
I can get a 4g flash drive at Walmart for $8. Capcom's reasoning is invalid.
Good thing the price is now set at $40. I just wish Capcom would fucking learn for once in it's life.
Amazon is selling it at 40 and they have preorder price guarantee so I don't know why anyone is complaining
what does that have to do with anything?
Monster hunter 3 ultimate is 16GB right...
You are probably right they just want the extra $10. However if the game is bigger the cost of the extra flash memory is not the only extra cost they have. It also costs more to develop the extra material. But you are they are just exploiting the market.
As far as I know it is NOT free. It's like Mass Effect 3 where you have to pay for the good ending to the story
I really hope they make up for those 10 extra dollars by putting a shitton of extra content in the game. Really using that extra space.
But it's Capcom we're talking about. I'm not so sure...
WHAT!! a 4GB flash card that cost 10$ in 2011??
isnt it coming with the slide pad
They still needed to do a lot of work on revelations. Primarily the dodge system.
@Octoberfleshed then if you dont get zela oot 3d or starfox or ntendo exclusvies
Well at least the circle pad is $19.99.
i think mgs 3ds is using the bigger cartridge and i don't think their upping the price (i could be wrong though)
R.I.P capcom
they made great games since 1983 through 2010
Capcom have literally sunk to a new low.
Their greed is their ultimate downfall.
I pray that someone out there who's so die-hard
of their fave Capcom franchise...will pay'em a visit
at Capcom's Euro, US & Japanese branches...& apply
ALOT of C4...& level their asses to ground zero.
Hell, I would...wouldn't you?
the solution...you say "screw u capcom!" and u buy it on amazon or ebay next year where u can buy it for $30
Yip it seems they dropped the price from 50 to 40 bucks. Like it should be regardless. Just found out on Crunchy
Crapcom needs to knock off the bullshit. It's really starting to get old, and it's really sad to see a awesome game company like Capcom turn into a bunch of dicks who apparently love pissing off their fans just so they can laugh in their faces. Yeah, charging extra for a 4GB flash-card is bullshit.
getting games used
is now the only option.
