I would love to see Evil Zone on the Playstation Network. An obscure but entertaining animé-style fighter that found a special place in my heart from the second I played the demo back in the day.
Glad you brought up Brave Fencer Musashi; that was a hidden gem my brother and I found by chance. Thing is, no one we've met in person since we got it seem to know about it.
That's a good to start with. I started with Legend of Dragoon, and it's not a good one to start with. Other RPG's have good magic systems, and Legend of Dragoon's magic system was atrocious, so when it came time to learn how to properly use magic on an RPG, I was completely lost, especially since my second RPG was FF8. But yeah, Legend of Legaia was awesome. I just wish I could play it long enough to get past the first part. Maybe that should be the next ISO I download for my PS1 emulator.
Since this video there have been a few more titles added. A couple you mentioned. I agree with Doom and Final Doom. Though it is now in a Doom collection. I was exstatic to hear the Command and Conquer games were on there. I love playing those games so now it is nice to know I can just play them on my Ps3 when ever I want to. The only game I can think of right now is Intelligent Cube. I love that game and it would be nice to be on the Psn store.
hear me bro 4 year later they put on psn many games you told but still is missing many of them like: attack of saucerman, drive 2,vigilante 8 2 offense, road rash jailbreak, medievil 2,bust a groove 2,twisted metal 3 and 4.. and many other but i think you video made great progress cuz today many games you told are avaiable
AlphaOmegaSin The reason why you can't play those classics is because of licencing issues. Some of the companies that made those games no longer exist. Add games that use the likeness of celebrities such as Tony Hawk and it makes it a nightmare for SCE to even buy or make deals for those rights.
ok so i just bought crash bandicoot which was advertised for $7.55 and then checked my bank account and it says that i have payed sony $10.00, what the fuck?
I'm really happy for this PSone and PS2 classic selling in the PS Store, I found there some games that are impossible for me to find like Tomba or Godhand.
BEST VIDEO YET. OMG i love the topics you talk about, but sometimes just the scenarios you put in are F.UCKING AWESOME. I'd like to see nuclear strike in there, badass game, you were like in a helicopter trying to make the world not end. There was an army men, like the plastic ones, in there that i cant remember the title, but LEGEND OF DRAGOON! best game ever, so glad you put that on the list. Keep making these videos man, my friends would love these.
although about 3 or 4 games you mentioned are already available on the psn you're absolutely right. The japanese store even has almost 6 times the amount of psone games the american and european stores have. The same goes for Dreamcast games.
BEST VIDEO YET. OMG i love the topics you talk about, but sometimes just the scenarios you put in are FUCKING AWESOME. I'd like to see nuclear strike in there, badass game, you were like in a helicopter trying to make the world not end. One thing that sucks is that ever since the Vita came out, the entire list of PS1 classics has not been made compatible with it (with some notable cases including the Crash and Spyro games). What's funny, is that there was a glitch in the PSN store that allowed any PSP game and PS1 classic to be downloaded to the Vita (which of course was quickly fixed). Many people downloaded games that weren't supposed to work, but they were able to work on the Vita just fine, so it has nothing to do with compatibility issues. Some people have argued that it may be due to licensing issues (such as Activision owning Crash and Spyro), but if that were the case, then why are the games available on the PSN store in the first place?
The PS1 was a great, groundbreaking console, it helped bring video games into the mainstream and establish games as a hobby for adults, not just kids but in terms of the games i don't remember it as fondly as the SNES, Dreamcast or PS2.
There is a good reason. They need to optimize their emulator to make each game work perfectly. At one stage, they released the spyro games on the EU store, but there were issues with it, and they removed them until recently, so they could make them work perfectly. Unofficial emulators have no obligation to be perfect, however, if Sony are going to charge money, they have to work right. It's apparently very time consuming to go through each game individually like that.
@darckjo its not, the background is black as is the hat. i might just change the background color lol but my avatar on here is how it should look normally
You know alpha, I have the same exact complaint, but with PS2 games on PS3, and 4, and on virtual console on Wii and Wii U. PS4 is missing some awesome PS2 games that MUST be available for download on PSN, like Spider-Man 2, which is my all time favorite Spider-Man game thus far!
U named a lot of great games i remember some games that u probably have but just forgetted, psone was "the" consola back those days, i add to your list this games : nuclear dawn, destruction derby, oodworld, syphon filter, crash bash, crash team racing, pandemonium for example, great vid
it's great you mentioned nightmare creatures 1 and 2, NC2 is one of my favorite games, ever. don't know why, it's really not as good as many other games out there but it has a feeling that connects to me very well.
I'm blessed to live in a city where I have access to retro and new games whenever I need them. We have a local game store that sells everything from NES and Master system to PS3 Wii and 360. I can pretty much get whatever game I want whenever I want as long as I have the money :D
Gex: Enter the Gecko The original Gex and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko have been on there for years, yet there's no news of Enter the Gecko, which happens to be my favorite of the series and a hugely nostalgic game for me.
Could be worse. They could put Bubsy 3D on there lol Also Alpha, I always love your "I would rather" bits while you rant. It's funny hearing what you come up with.
PSOne is without a doubt my all-time favorite system. Pretty much every game we play today on current systems has its roots in the PSOne, simply because it was the BEST of the early 3-D Polygon Gaming Systems. Platforming, Racing, FPS, Role-Playing, Strategy, Action-Adventure, Survival Horror, Fighters, Skateboarding and Snowboarding, were ALL genres of games that came to be what they are today because of the classic titles found originally on the PSOne. Love this system!
Awsome man you mentioned Star Ocean the 2nd Story I thought me and my friends were the only ones who ever played that its such a great game that was overshadowed by ff8 thanks for mentioning it man thanks alot
i'm one of the "rather-have-physical-copy" guys, but I agree if they are going to have a PSone classics, they should have a lot more available. I wouldn't think it would be too difficult or costly.
@ROFLSoup i did mention brave fencer and legaia but the monster rancher games, makes me wonder if they would work the same since they had the disc reading feature to make monsters. hmmmm
legend of dragoon was my real first taste of the PlayStation 1 and the first rpg I was able to beat it brings back such fond memories and I just bought it on amazon so here we go love the vids.
Another video that is interesting in hindsight. I think licensing is a big part of why some of these have not been put up on the PSN or why they took so long.
Well for what I know, the Slim models can still play PS1 games,I searched it up online I haven't tested it yet but I will as soon as I get home which is a little more than a week.
That was Covenant of the Plume, the 3rd game in the series. The original was re-released on PSP a while back but never put on the PS store for some reason.
Soul Reaver has been on their for a while now, so is blood omen. These are my favorites and I'm so glad I can play them again. Hopefully they expand on it so everyone can replay the classics the love.
I read somewhere a while ago, that some popular games that are not on the PSN are not there because of license issues do to companys that are no longer together and shit like that.
You know what pisses me off about the PS1/2 Classics? No trophies. If I download an older gen game on my Xbox it has achievements. It really makes the game more fun for me.
To be fair, you still can play all your PS1 games on the PS3, because Sony failed to realize that PS1 games run on CD-Rom, not DVD-ROM, so the PS3 does have SOME backwards compatibility, but the exclusion for the PS2 was just bullshit.
Hey man, I use an emulator also. I bought a wired xbox controller, and holy shit it makes ALL the games 10x more playable. I recommend it if you love your old games like I do. Best wishes
I literally agree 100% with all of the videos you make, keep it up. And Crash bash was one of my favourite games for the ps one, I'm sad to see that sony cant get their shit together and put it on the psn store.
Well at least they put some of those games you mentioned on there. I agree the whole ps1 ps2 library should be available for download. Especially now that ps3s are no longer backwards compatible.
a couple of this have made it by now, but i agree with u they should update more often. And im also excited that they are gonna start uploading ps2 games.
Probably because the cost of porting them to the PS3 and uploading them to the store would outweigh the profit they would make by purchases of said games. Plus, with the sheer number of PS1 games in existence, it's hard to blame them for not getting everyone you could think of up there. I'm just happy they got all of the big ones like the Final Fantasies, Grandia, Xenogears, Spyro and Crash.
I'm sure near every great ps1 game will end up on there. They do add at least one every 2 weeks. A lot of the games you've listed have ended up coming out, for example. I cannot wait until Valkyrie Profile to show up, but I'm sure it will.
@Icestar20 awe man theres a ton of awesome games, hit up the net or any local game store that sells older games and try to pick up a few. definitely worth it. i had the system when it first came out and was hooked from day one thanks to the original resident evil, tomb raider, and twisted metal games and the plethora of epic rpg's
Spyro worked well for the PSP, but the single stick set-up made precise control in the flying racetrack levels... challenging. But it works well on the PS3. Agree about your list, especially Doom, Einhander, Tenchu, and Ace Combat 3 (have English subtitles of the anime cutscenes!). Really wished that the PS Vita played PS2 games!
For some reason the American PSN has Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, yet the European PSN does not for some reason. Now, you can say what you will about the status of the Alone in the Dark franchise today, like how the 2008 remake/reboot/sequel/re-imagining was garbage, and how the latest installment "Illumination" has crushed what little hope the franchise had. But to me, not only will The New Nightmare always have a special place in my heart for being my first ever survival-horror game (which later led me to RE on the DS), but I will also go ahead and defend it as being the last legitimately good Alone in the Dark game. You can say alot about the game, but it f***ing NAILED the atmosphere, and I LOVED it for it! So if any of you American PSN users play that game on your PS3's, PSP's or Vita's for that matter, be sure to appreciate the game a little bit more, knowing that you are playing a good game that them poor Europeans cannot play. Would you know, that I first played the game as a demo, and when I went to the record store one day, the very last PS1 game they had left, just so happened to also be the last copy of The New Nightmare. It's like it was meant to be
They have Doom on the PS3 store It isn't the PS One port, but if you search "Doom Classic Complete", it's the Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 + No Rest For the Living, Master Levels for Doom 2, and Final Doom, all of which are, to my knowledge, identical to their PC counterparts, minus cheat codes. All of those games for only $14.99.
Isn't Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean Second Story available as PSP remakes? Also aware of the date this was uploaded, but worth noting that Parasite Eve and Breath of Fire IV are on PSN now. And it's PersonA, not PersonO.
You know what's even worse, games that ARE on there but can't be played by your system. I bought pursuit force extreme justice (a psp game) and tried to download it on my ps vita (a system that can easily play psp games) and was told I prettymuch wasted my money.
It comes down to licencing and testing. They need a licence for everything in the game. Music, ads, voices, everything. Many of these licences will have expired by now, and if they can't get every single one of them for a particular title, then they cannot release it again. In addition to that, many game simply don't work properly all the time on the ps3's emulation. They aren't going to go re-write these games, if they can't tweak the emulator to work with the title, it wont be released.
@MrDeathnotefan98 I didn't mention it cause square announced they were putting on psn, as a matter a fact its on there right now lol least here in the states it is
I completely agree with you. Point Is, Sony will probably transfer all its products to PSN - in time (as will other IT companies do). Sony doesn't see huge demand on those games, and/or doesn't have staff to do programming work on few thousand titles from PSOne era. Mind you - in ten years time there might not be a single console with optical drive present on the market. Only streaming, network soft like Steam, gaming via such things like On-Live. Then It start make sense.
Thankfully I know soul Reaver is on there now. =3 Cause I own that copy. XP Loved seeing your list. =3 Also love that you put Wild 9 on there. That game was so creative and crazy. X3
An old PS1 game called Evil Zone. An old fighting game that had a story mode that was set up like an anime. I thought that it was pretty cool in my childhood and would like to see that in the PSN.
a number of these games have been released since this video, but still there's a number of games that are MIA. Gran Turismo 1 and 2 have licensing issues probably.
I just got Parasite Eve today. Yesterday, I got RR4, Legend of Dragoon, and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. I also love the psp games on there. I feel like I'm late in the game, but better late than never.
I think it has to do with ether music licensing on the disks or has to do with the company licensing issues with the game companies. Though if you own these game disks you can play them on any ps3 anyway.
@AlphaOmegaSin lol... nice rant man. I have most of the games u mentioned, but I wasn't exactly the greatest caretaker of them as a kid. PSN has no initiative to add them to the network though, since their service is free, they keep things pretty spartan. They figure the people who want to play these games is not worth the cost, and leave them out. Which is a damn shame, because some of mine are worn down, and ik that a lot of people agree with me that they would like to play their favs again.
I don't understand why you had Alundra 2 on your list. I loved Alundra 1, then tried Alundra 2 and couldn't stand it. It wasn't even just that it was different. It was horrible. But you definitey have some very good points. Even among some of the games I never liked, I was thinking "dude, those were so popular. I don't care whether I like them; Sony should be trying to make bank on them."
Agree with every single word! One game I wanna see is Team Buddies because that is a fantastic game from when I was younger and it's like $60 used online or more and I want it for $6 instead. Even $10 would be nice.
hi, so a lot of those games u listed where some of my fav. I only have one problem, nostalgia almost never meets my expectations. What r your thoughts on remakes. Like keep story and game play just up the graphics and some basic physics. I would pay at least 35 bucks for that. how bout u?
The main business for gaming is GameStop. GameStop does not sell PS1 games. Where I live I have to drive over 60 miles to get to a game store than has classic games. Having the games on PSN would be much more convenient.
My only issue with PSOne is the lack of games here in EU, Otherwise PSOne is good. I was happy when RE1 finally came to PSN here in EU after 2 years of PSN US got it. I was stunned that we got the Directors cut instead. When RE2 and 3 came to PSN here in EU, CAPCOM instead released the US versions instead, which requires you to have a 60Hz display(I don't know what that means). CAPCOM says the EU version of the RE Trilogy was released by Virgin interactive. This comment was made in may 2012.
does anybody remember the game medievil
Tgkjj yea i just got the Psp version
omg yes
Played the demo back then. got it for the vita. :)
yup its on psn I bought it, its $5.99
Tgkjj currently playing the sequel now, I had this in a long time yet I never finished this
5 years later and we still have this issue.
What
@@TheTheHoumer At the time i wrote that comment nothing had changed with regards to PS1 games still not being available on the PS Store.
@@quatz1981 you still alive, very good. hope you doing well
TH-cam recommends this video after 10 years somehow. Just want to say, what’s up Alpha? Miss your videos man
Also to be fair, a lot of these eventually got put onto the system and now they are shutting it down. Get this shit on ps5 already!
I would love to see Evil Zone on the Playstation Network. An obscure but entertaining animé-style fighter that found a special place in my heart from the second I played the demo back in the day.
Thought I was the only one lol
What... Isn't that intro music the main table theme from the pinball game Dragons Fury? That's fucking hardcore! Loved that game!
Glad you brought up Brave Fencer Musashi; that was a hidden gem my brother and I found by chance. Thing is, no one we've met in person since we got it seem to know about it.
+Collin Regan I've been wanting to play that game forever. T_T Guess $ony doesn't want my money?
who came back to this video to see if they made it on PSN today?
I've never seen this dude so chill in a video...
well good luck making a list that some one of them notices. your gonna need it.
Definitely on board for adding Legend of Legaia! WAAAY to many people ignore that game. It's high time Vahn & co. get some recognition!
Good to see you know about Legend of Legaia. It was my first rpg!
That's a good to start with. I started with Legend of Dragoon, and it's not a good one to start with. I'd recommend it highly. It only gets better the longer you go☺
Okay, I'll definitely give it a go as soon as I'm ready for another RPG. I just made another run on Dragoon, so I need a minute to recuperate.
Since this video there have been a few more titles added. A couple you mentioned. I agree with Doom and Final Doom. Though it is now in a Doom collection.

fucking really :P

good luck finding the game affordable anywhere else.. people are charging out the ass for it. :P
they recently put up the English version. for a limited time you can get it for free if you bought the Japanese version
@DPthePcgamer it's from a band called sword of justice and the song is devil's crush
crap this is an old ass vid.

yeah its you guys only. here in the US, we don't have it sadly. such an epic 2D fighter like that should be given more attention

It's like it was meant to be
holy crap dude u got quest 64?!?!:D ur my favorite youtuber on here!! i love that game!!
Im waiting for megaman legends and legends 2 for the psone classics
This is STILL applicable today.
The entire GENRE of skating games is NOT on there... it's SO annoying. TAKE MY MONEY!
Nice video, tbh I just want all the known ps one classics that u mentioned back into the psp, especially the fighting games like the Tekken series🎮💯✔️
They have Doom on the PS3 store
It isn't the PS One port, but if you search "Doom Classic Complete", it's the Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 + No Rest For the Living, Master Levels for Doom 2, and Final Doom, all of which are, to my knowledge, identical to their PC counterparts, minus cheat codes.
You made me laugh soooooo hard at the van part. Lolololol
Some of the titles have now been on PlayStation 3 Network but I'm still waiting for Mega Man Legends 1 & 2
@MrDeathnotefan98
I didn't mention it cause square announced they were putting on psn, as a matter a fact its on there right now lol least here in the states it is
I completely agree with you.
All playstation games that don't have some kind of copy right issue should be in playstation classics on PSN.
He knows that, he means these games should be available to everyone, not just him.
Just picked up both of them for $15. Already clocked in over 50 hours. Great games.
Poy Poy! Intelligent Qube! Ehrgeiz! And I'm definitely with you on Einhander- always wanted to play that game.
Your hair is epic! I just subbed, great channel!
Even $10 would be nice.
at the time that the video was uploaded it wasn't but i believe it is on there now.
hi, so a lot of those games u listed where some of my fav.
