I’m almost embarrassed to admit I just recently discovered the cover of this song. I’ve heard of Disturbed and had listened to a couple of his top songs which I thought were good but wow did I underestimate his power and talent. This was on another level. Although this song was written and performed long ago it’s amazing how accurate it describes our situation today in the world.
This cover is one of the greatest ever.
The way your lips pursed and curled as if you were thinking, “What is this guy *doing* to me?” Then you mentioned the full-body goosebumps. Yeah… David *does* that.

At the same time you did the expression of "goosebumps" up your arms is EXACTLY what this song does for me as well... My father passed away in 2017 at the age of 71 and his favorite song of all time was the original "Song of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkle... a year or so before he passed, I said... "Pop, you gotta listen and watch this version of your song..." Pop was not only impressed, but actually cried and said this is even better than the original! Needless to say this was played at his wake... and again at home for the celebration party of his life... AMAZING
I **love** a good cover, and with the possible exception of Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt, this is the greatest cover of *any* song, *ever*. And it's a very, very close thing.

It may be considered sacrilege, but I'm really not a fan of the style. Operatic and Symphonic Metal just don't do anything for me. If you're a female vocalist, I want fry or growl. Or scream. Or all three. That's why I think Jinjer is the band of the decade.

Like I said though, I like a GOOD cover. Most of Marilyn Manson's covers for example. Or every single video on Ten Second Songs.
@@uncle_thulhu I hear ya. The Pink Floyd cover doesn't include the female vocalist. She's backstage doing a wardrobe changeout. The Viking bassist sings with an appropriate amount of grit. Guitar keeps true to Floyd's roots with Empuu's own unique style. Jukka's work on the drumkit is absolutely breathtaking. His name is David Draiman. He was classically trained as a cantor and was raised in an orthodox Jewish family. His voice is so powerful and he reaches his full range effortlessly. Paul Simon who originally wrote this song back in the early 1960's apparently also loves this version, which says a whole lot.
The live version he does is even more epic. You're getting very good at breaking down the technical aspects. As a singer you have more knowledge than myself and other non-singers about that part. You know what it takes to make the sounds.
This is definitely a goosebump inducing song. The lyrics by Simon and Garfunkel are just profound and are amazing no matter who sings them. I figured you'd really feel the peak of the song just before the end!

You need to react to “down with the sickness” by disturbed to get a feel for what this band normally sounds like and it will give you an even greater appreciation. You need to listen to the full version as well. The music video is the short version

An amazing voice that is more voice than any one person should have. Very few people have the gift that he has, and even fewer can control it as well as he does.
This cover makes one listen to the profound lyrics and the story is told by the music and by the gorgeous voice of David. He has got to have an angel and a demon in his soul to portray the story so well. He is definitely gifted!

Yet another Disturbed EARGASM.
I first heard the song only a month ago and they play it all the time both the official and the Conan version and I believe when everyone says that the Conan version is better. Especially how the camera captures him singing it plus I really like watching people's reaction because I enjoy it so much that is the song. I enjoy watching other people hearing it for the first time and it blowing their minds. I have never heard a song so well sung in my entire life.

This is the best cover of all time for me (from song were I know the original first). I knew Simon & Garfunkel's version a long time before I heard this but there's just so much power and emotion in this version. This should've won a Grammy award but Beyonce collabed with some rock guitarist and beat Disturbed to the award

Great reaction! I've been a Disturbed fan forever! I've seen them in concert three times. They are amazing. I love their covers. Land of Confusion by Phil Collins and Shout by Tears for Fears. They always put their signature on it. They do alot of covers but they do many new things as well for past 20 years. What longevity. Amazing.

This song was a slow burn for me as I wasn’t a fan of his low vocals. It took several listens to understand his vibe here, at last I got it. He had to start low & understated to build his vocal dynamics. I very much appreciated the musical arrangement, I thought it was very well done. There is a certain drama in this version that makes it so different from the original which I like! I tend to prefer the first 2 albums from Disturbed but I think they’ve done a few great covers including this one & Land of Confusion! One of the better bands of the early 2000’s!
