    David doesn't use Auto-tune; he HATES it. In fact, during the Conan performance that everyone is going to ask you to see, the producers decided to use it and it REALLY pissed him off.
    What you're hearing is a natural affectation of his voice from years of being a Cantor.

    Paul Simon loved this cover. I love both mainly because Simon and Garfunkel's felt like a warning to their generation about the cost of isolationism, censorship, and the worship of the sensational materialism vs David's vocal which feels both sad and furious about how those warnings went unheeded and we are living in a time that we were warned about. I see that others have suggested the Conan Performance. I agree because there is a 20-piece orchestra behind him for it, the backstage people came out to see who was singing, audience members said the applause and standing ovation lasted over 10 minutes, that performance was nominated for a Grammy, and it got over 100 million views. I would like the have a DVD of the video of the studio version with the audio of the Conan Show. David was sick with a fever when he did the Conan Show and still pulled it off. I am 76 and have heard the Simon & Garfunkel version and many others since but it was when I heard the version by Disturbed that I understood the song. No there is no auto tune David D. In interviews says he hates that stuff & it would be best to watch his live on Conan Obrien version it is so much better
    Paul Simon actually called him personally told him it was the best cover of the song he ever heard & actually promoted it on his social media. Also, David D. Is classically trained.

    If anyone tells you this song isn’t representative of Disturbed because there’s no heavy guitar and drums, they’re obviously correct. HOWEVER, if anyone tries to tell you it’s not representative of David’s voice, they are absolutely and severely mistaken. What caught your attention at 10:15 to 10:20 is THE David Draiman sound. I would recommend 10,000 Fists or Stricken next, partially because of the range and because they’re “classic“ Disturbed songs, old and very well loved by fans so no one will complain about what’s “representative” of their sound.

    • @SoulSingerDiscovers
      @SoulSingerDiscovers  ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s no accusation here Fi because pitch correction isn’t something to be upset about loads of acts over the past twenty years use it. It doesn’t mean someone lacks talent. The fact that David had to publicly say he wouldn’t use it is more representative of Joe Public not understanding what it is, so willing to skate him for it, than it is of it actually being a bad thing to use. Talented singers use it regularly.

    You may have been led to think (because of so many songs in the last forty years done that way) that trilling and running on notes in a song conveys passion or emotion; maybe now you see that the opposite is actually true - holding and sustaining a note - with a clear, trained and unaltered voice conveys so, so much more honesty and sincerity of emotion it raises the bar to another level altogether. You got and felt the message in the words, didn't you?

      If you look up info on the conan performance David said he was sick and ‘furious’ the show used pitch correction. He used it live and here. Sadly people love David so much that they believe anything he says in an interview. He’s a great vocalist but this silly boomer attitude of ‘vocal manipulation bad’ is sooooo stupid. It has been and will be the standard for thousands of high level singers, people aren’t even aware of. I guarantee you enjoy the music of singers who use auto tune all the time and don’t even know it.
